Seriously ? They are each the exactly the same crime, a “misdemeanor” and treated the same under the law whether they are working overstays or walked across the border illegally.
Under the law, hiring illegals is a federal crime and can lead to felonies if harboring or providing false paper work which Trump is accused of doing, are involved. There are civil penalties that can lead to criminal prosecution if accompanied by these other activities. . Why aren’t you more upset about that ?

It's a vast, dry, unhospitable desert out there, and while most of the dehydrated dead will go unnoticed, occasionally some hikers or canoeists on a sightseeing side trip, or ranchers, will come upon a few or many dead bodies. Once in awhile they will call and report this. But most of them are just worried about getting to their next water.

Yes, they were covered differently. They were treated as the human tragedy they are rather than a political tool to subvert an American administration. People have been drowning in that river since before there was a United States.

 

That's the way of weird science I guess. I spoke with a notable scientist who studied the behavior of wolves. He had been working on one study for the past 10 years curtesy of government grants. Very interesting conversation. I asked him if he had published any of his work. He said no, maybe in a few more years he would get around to it. I learned a little about human behavior.

Pharma works on promises too. The difference is instead of grants, they rely on stockholders who speculate on breakthroughs and blockbuster drugs that at best may not even have a 50% chance of exceeding trial goals.

I worked on a chain of oncology centers. About all they really did there was to administer drugs and maybe some comforting words to people they knew were going to die anyway.

I think we're all smart enough to know what he's saying, which is that as president he would take any steps he could to advance research and work for a cure. Each cancer type is different but we are close to finding a cure for several types, and the dedication of government would make all the difference. But we don't see Trump making any such commitment.

So, understood this way as we know it should be understood (instead of literally), it isn't a "bold promise he can't keep".

He may even manage to get Democrats to sit down to a little conversation and that would be worthy of a Nobel Peace Prize.
