The Conyers family is under the belief and impression that the U.S. is composed of 435 mini-fiefdoms, where their seats and power are passed down to family members. Obviously according to Democrats Congressional seats are not decided by the voters.

 

You can't "retire" in the middle of your term. The media is terming it as such but Conyers is finally throwing in the towel and resigning.
