    I can already hear it... A judge appointed by Trump. Wonder how much he paid her off? This is all a travesty of justice, :blahblah::blahblah::blahblah:

    Seriously, why shouldn't a neutral party, a special master oversee the justice department's possible mismanagement of Trump's personal items and documents and potentially privileged material subject to claims of attorney-client and/or executive privilege?

    Well, you had 2 out of 3 anyway.... Obviously, T**** doesn't pay anybody.

    To your naive question, because of the delay involved...

    The DOJ will likely appeal and is the favorite to win....

    I think this is a good development.

    However, we already know that if the outcome is unfavorable to Trump, the MAGA hat wearers will cry about bias and the Special Master being a Dem stooge.

    This doesn't help tRaitor tRump:

    - the documents have been reviewed.
    - not legal action will be taken until after the midterms, so it's not going to buy him much time IF any.

    His legal team screwed up not asking for this immediately; you only get "the best" people when you don't pay your bills.

    Yep - I have no problem with this at all. This will rule out any quibbles about the truth of what the DOJ was looking for (and found) and will make sure that client privilege is secured. He won't be able to complain about 'unfairness' any longer.

    In theory, any special master will do... I don't even know why you'd need somebody with a high classification.

    ANYTHING marked an official government secrecy classification will never go back to Trump, so those shouldn't even need to be reviewed.... After that, those documents should go right to the DOJ for continued investigation. Looking at pictures and "gifts/clothing"? Who cares?? He's welcome to most of the stuff like that IMHO...

    There was nothing naive about my question. Perhaps it bothers you that a third party make sure the former president is being treated fairly, and his attorney client privilege is not subject to abuse, hence the necessary delay?

    Is this your opinion? Or the opinion of leftist, partisan "legal experts"? If the latter, link please.

    Even though this Judge’s Order appointing a special master won’t stop the very serious Trump stolen docs investigation, having been the decider of whether DOJ should appeal various cases in the past, I think DOJ has to appeal here. Sets a terrible precedent. That’s what I’d do

    The above seems highly unlikely since the judge who made the ruling was appointed by former President Trump.

    Because of what we already know about the FBI's blatant crookedness regarding unwarranted surveillance of US citizens, lying to obtain a FISA warrant, it's the right thing to have some outside surveillance over this bureau.

    Really REALLY bad interpretation of Katyal's tweet.... nowhere does he indicate eventual guilt...

    However, I (me... personally... moi.....with no assistance) feel his guilt is beyond question, for the simple charges listed in the search warrant... It's only idiotic to presume the DOJ might do something about it this time, and I certainly don't...

    DOJ will get this appealed and win. Judge is a Trump appointee and should have refused herself on grounds she cannot oversee a case in which she was practically employed by the defendant.

    Nah... she should have just followed the law and general precedent on appointing special masters only for cases that deserve special masters. Nobody said BOO when a special master was appointed after the Cohen warrant, because there was going to be a fair amount of legit AC material in that seizure...

    A dollar will get you $10 that this special master will conform fully to what the DOJ has already identified as AC privileged...

    You've assumed she is biased based that she is a Trump appointee. What nonsense.
    In her opinion, Cannon sided with Trump’s legal team and said that the former president does retain some executive privileges after leaving office — a stance that the Justice Department disagrees with.

    Tell us why a former president does not retain some executive privileges?

    Trump could have avoided all this by taking his request for executive privilege straight to the courts the VERY FIRST time
    the DOJ requested the documents MONTHS ago. But Trump thought himself above the law. Trump's own dick-head
    attitude caused all this.

    If not that far, they will certainly scream the FBI took some personal belongings, which they probably did, since T**** kept personal and top secret all together...
