No. No. No. He was not "accused by two women". He was accused by the state. The women did not accuse him nor did they succumb to pressure by the state to accuse him. Sweden has (for some time) been acting at the behest of the American CIA. It probably began when the CIA infiltrated SÄPO and conspired to murder Olaf Palme. His death was the end of Sweden's neutrality and there have been several incidents proving it such as clandestine CIA planes using Arlanda as a stepping point to shuttle illegally arrested "suspects" to Guantanamo. Assange ought to have understood that but he was naïve in thinking that he was working and residing in "neutral" Sweden. He was actually proud of it, not realizing the danger.
I think the available evidence points to it most likely just having been an overzealous feminist prosecutor. There is a thread that already discusses this: Assange Accusations in Sweden But Assange could not have known this, and had good reason to suspect that the Swedish government was coming up with trumped up charges to be able to extradite him and then send him off to the U.S. But this may all have been a moot point, because, as the story has further developed, currently the U.K. has been holding Assange in prison for three and half years while he has been fighting against extradition to the U.S. in U.K. court.
I might agree with this idea except for the fact that the US wanted him strung up and that SÄPO had already been working clandestinely with the CIA, which was (and continues to be) in direct breach of Swedish law. I have no doubt that you are correct in saying that the prosecutor was of feminist inclinations and eager to make a name for herself but there was enough incentive to play with the big boys by kissing Washington’s ass and that is the main point. Let’s face it, putting out an international extradition order for having sex without a condom is outrageous even if there were an accusation against him … but there wasn’t even that. It’s like being charged for the murder of a person who is alive & well and sitting in front of you denying the crime ever took place.
Australian Broadcasting Corp did a lengthy documentary about what happened to Julian. I think this is it Sex, Lies and Julian Assange - Four Corners (abc.net.au)
