An anniversary NEVER commemorated in the media, sailors killed while showing breathtaking heroism in Israel's deliberate attempt to sink an American ship, into order to draw the US into war with Egypt. Sailors fought fires wounded, treated wounded while wounded themselves, while taking hundreds of rounds of strafing fire, rockets, and torpedoes, saving the ship which by all accounts should have gone down. They had names, they had faces, but it is forbidden to mention them, because Americans would learn about the vicious betrayal of one of our closest allies, as well as their own government. I have nothing but the utmost gratitude and respect for fallen servicemen. That said, this happened in 1967, and if you're dragging it up now as some sort of partisan political ammunition, that's pretty despicable (imho).
Grrr.... Damn Jews... Anti-Semitism is flourishing amongst the collective these days. They totally side with Islam.
If you had any respect you would want the survivors to see the truth come out before they have all died. They all believe the attack was deliberate. You have no interest in the truth, no respect for the survivors or the fallen.
Honestly, the world is a stupid place where stupid things happen all the time. The Israelis somehow mistaking a clearly marked US ship for an Egyptian ship wouldn't even be near the top 10 goofs of warfare history.
Yea, a clearly marked US ship that they had reconned all morning, circling close enough to see the blond-haired American sailors sunning themselves on the deck and wave to them, attack them for 2 hours then get close enough to machine-gun the lifeboats. Just fog of war. Fortunately it came out later in declassified radio chatter that they did know it was American. http://www.chicagotribune.com/chi-liberty_tuesoct02-story.html
Not the Jews. Israel. But yes we should have. False flag attacks to get other countries to fight its wars is a modus operandi for Israel. Lavon Affair (blame it on Egyptians): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lavon_Affair King David Hotel (blame Arabs, pit them against British): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_David_Hotel_bombing Then there is the big one, 9/11. We are carrying out Israel's agenda in the Middle East because of 9/11. Oded Yinon, Israeli Foreign Ministry, "A Strategy for Israel in the Nineteen Eighties": Douglas Feith, David Wurmser, Neocons in the George W. Bush administration wrote BEFORE 9/11 in "A Clean Break: A New Strategy for Securing the Realm (Israel)" 1996: Feith wrote that paper for Netanyahu. He later became Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, with the highest security clearances and access to the nation's defenses before 9/11. Who was in NYC cheering and high-fiving the burning towers? Israeli Mossad agents.
Did you forget the Japanese deliberate attack against us and how many died? You love them now. Why hate on the Jews?
You really don't see the difference between an attack by a declared enemy, and one by a "close ally" which we were helping and giving money to? Who we trusted? Who this day lie that it was an "accident"? What the Liberty survivors want is for Israel to come clean. But then Americans would know that its government has been lying to them about everything, all along, including 9/11, and that Israel has taken over American foreign policy.
I don't doubt that the Israelis deliberately targeted and attacked a US spy ship. What I do doubt is that there was any particular animosity to the US, that 9/11 was orchestrated by Israel, or that Israel has taken over American foreign policy. That's all anti-Semitic stupidity. Now for the reason I clicked on this thread: Stop calling victims heroes. Heroes are people who do grand things. Victims are people who have things happen to them. The men who died on this ship were victims, not heroes. The people who died on 9/11 were victims, not heroes. John McCain was a victim, not a hero. Alvin York was a hero, he took prisoners, he didn't become one.
Remember the day that the US Vincennes shot down an Iranian passenger jumbo jet for no reason? No war that day. How are you celebrate that anniversary *******? I have no doubt you haven't got a clue what day that happened.
