It did, which was in the hands of the North Koreans when it was taken during the landings.

But it was also not the only amphibious landings in the war, just the largest and most well known. Others were held at Jindong-ri, Tongyeong, and others.

    http://library.uoregon.edu/ec/e-asia/read/boose.pdf

It always puzzles me how people say over and over that Amphibious landings have been obsolete since WWII, yet there have been dozens of them since.

What age do you think most of their soldiers would be? DUring their war with Iraq, they drafted soldiers as young as 12 years old. You are just confirming that they have the capability of creating a huge military, if they do not mind once again tossing away their future.

Aside from deterrence with ballistic missile submarines and to a lesser extent long range bombers..the military exists to support the rifleman. Strong land armies won't necessarily deter aggression, that's what the Navy and Air Force are for, however once war begins, it revolves around ground troops...assuming your goal is to win the war. The Gulf War was highly successful and did involve a technically advanced air phase...however...the war ended, open ended. Meaning a true victory could only be achieved if Saddam's regime was defeated, and this would have involved sending boots downrange. The Iraq war was an extension of the Gulf War..the protracted ground phase. You can't achieve true military victory without troops on the ground and sometimes even that is not enough..however there is no scenario wherein air power alone, or sea power, can acheive true victory. Deterrence yes, but not victory. You need the infantryman for this.

General Electric variable cycle engine. At 1:03 thrust vectoring, would help compensate for some of the F-35 A & Cs poor airframe shaping compromises.

I was just at that site, reading up on the SDB-II that is supposed to be the next CAS system. I'll just link it here.

According to one of the commentators the SDB2 costs $300,000 each. During the no fly zone where Libya was being bombed back to the stone ages NATO forces were dropping concrete practice bombs on tanks.

    I just watched a video of a $250,000 missile blowing up a $50,000 truck.

It use to be SOP to use a $2,000 MK-48 500 lb. bomb to blow up a bunch of trucks.

The SDB-ll is intended for "high priority targets." At what is expected to be $250,000 providing CAS for grunts who will be going up against a real sovereign nation who will have a real army, a real air force, a real navy, not cost effective or not fighting smart.

The SDD-ll with a 200 lb. penetration warhead it's only capable of penetrating 3 feet of steel reinforced concrete. The Iowa class battleship's 16"/50 gun was able to penetrate 30 feet of steel reinforced concrete at about $500 per round. That's fighting war the smart way. We use to fight wars the smart way at one time.

    WIN WHAT????

That is the question isn't it???

WIN WHAT? GROUND? TERRITORY? HEARTS AND MINDS!!!???

    WELL F@#% THAT!!!

We need to change how we deal with those who mess with us.

What sounds better.....35,000 Maines on the ground....go house to house kicking in doors looking for an enemy that is willing to kill women, children or cut off the hands and feet OF A NEW BORN BABY just to make a point to the LOCALS....telling them DO NOT TALK!!

    OR......

Several THOUSAND Robotic Aircraft and Ground Craft either being operated by actual Pilots and Drivers in the States or Offshore or even SELF AUTONOMOUS......being able to be ON STATION 24/7 365 DAYS A YEAR...

OR.....having our guy's drive over some IED?

Look at my reply to another post before this one.

We will no longer need the Middle Eastern Oil.

We need to completely rethink how we fight.

Let them wallow in their own messes.

Time to start taking care of our own!!!

They blow up a building....we fly in multiple Non-Nuclear EMP's and FRY their ability to communicate.

They use the INTERNET to recruit.....we use our vastly superior Computer Skills to shut them down....locate them....and send a WILD WEASILE firing a HARM MISSILE right into their BROADCASTING AREA.

Time to stop acting like MR. NICEGUY.

    The first.

The second is Science Fiction out of the Terminator movie.

Please, let us know when Skynet goes active. At that point we will start to take you seriously.

As for myself, I am about done with this sci-fi thread.

You can deny it all you want but this is the direction we are heading.

Of course this does not yet exist....but it will.

And we are getting very good at it.

That would be repeating the mistakes that were made in 2003.

You have to put 100,000 Marines and 400,000 soldiers on the ground.

We might not need to import oil but our trading partners do need to keep importing oil.

Now it wasn't my generation who started demanding garbage on the store shelves. It's likely anyone who's under 40 years of age is clueless what quality is, they have no problem with cheap stuff they buy. Globalization is all about cheap, inferior products.

Alexander Hamilton wrote: "Not only the wealth, but the independence and security of a country, appear to be materially connected with the prosperity of manufactures. Every nation...ought to endeavor to posses within itself all the essentials of a national supply. These comprise the means of subsistence, habitation, clothing and defense." America’s political independence, Hamilton was saying, could not survive without economic independence.

You think we have the tech edge, but wait until they get their hands on a quantum computer. Non-stop cyber terrorism. There's nothing we could do to stop them.

Quantum Processing is limited to only a few Private Companies and a number of U.S. Contractors.

    For instance LINK.....https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D-Wave_Systems

You can buy a 500 plus to 1000 Quibit Quantum Processor from D-wave but you need to understand how to use it.

The U.S. Cyber Command and our CYBER CONTRACTORS are WAY infront of the curve.

After all it was a combination of a Military Communication System developed jintly by the Brits and the United States that would become THE INTERNET.

And...no...LOL!!! NO!!! HA! HA! LOL!!!! AL GORE DID NOT INVENT THE INTERNET!! LOL!!!

Al and Tipper Gore are still yelling....BURN THE BUILDING!!! IT"S A BUILDING THAT'S BURNING!!! At the Def Leopard PYROMANIA ALBUM!!!!

Al Gore is a DEAD HEAD and his most complex and important to HIM anyways....creation to date is his design of a GRANNYSMITH APPLE BONG!!!

FFFFFFFFFFTTTTTTT!!!! UHMMMMMM! D..D...DD.....DUDE.....Take a hit! It's so NARLY! COUGH!! COUGH!! HACK!!! SPIT!! COUGH!!! DUDE!!! THIS S#!# IS HARSH!!!

Gore...."FFFFFFFFTTTTTTT!!!!! MMmmmmggggh! AHHHHHHHHHhhh!!! DUDE! Can't be helped!! Paraquat!

Once the bad guys get a quantum computer the banking sector alone will be dead meat. Their encrypted systems will melt away like hot butter.

The Banking Sector has the money, comnection and resources to purchase Quantum Systems for Virus and Worm eradication well before any Terrorists will have these.

As I have explained...everytime I hear about some Cyber Attack against U.S. Military, Banking, Energy or other systems I LAUGH MY A$$ OFF!!

    We are NOT VULNERABLE!!!

This is sort of the Cyber Command and Cyber Contractors MISSILE GAP ARGUMENT!!

Back in the day the U.S. Military justified the spending of Billions to close a supposed MISSILE GAP with the Soviet Union WHICH NEVER EXISTED!!!!

The Soviets were more than happy for the world to think they had all these Nuclear Missiles when the actual reality was the United States was so far ahead that we were deploying SOLID FUEL MIRVED MISSILES when the Soviets were still using the massive R-7 Rocket that was used to launch SPUTNIK into Orbit!!!

The R-7 (Russian: Р-7 «Семёрка») was a Soviet missile developed during the Cold War, and the world's first intercontinental ballistic missile.[1] The R-7 made 28 launches between 1957 and 1961, but was never deployed operationally. A derivative, the R-7A, was deployed from 1959 to 1968. To the West it was known by the NATO reporting name SS-6 Sapwood and within the Soviet Union by the GRAU index 8K71. In modified form, it launched Sputnik 1, the first artificial satellite, into orbit, and became the basis for the R7 family which includes Sputnik, Luna, Molniya, Vostok, and Voskhod space launchers, as well as later Soyuz/L/U/U2/FG/2 variants.

The widely used nickname for the R-7 launcher, "semyorka", means "the 7" in Russian.

So while the U.S. Military not only had already deployed Liquid Fueled ICBM's.....and was just beginning to deploy SOLID FUEL ICBM'S AND DEVELOP THE POLARIS......the Soviet Union did not even have ONE SINGLE DEPLOYED OPERATIONAL ICBM EXISTING!!!

Thus the MISSILE GAP......except there was no gap.....the Soviet's didn't even have a single ICBM Deployed!!!

Meanwhile everyone in the United States is being told about the RED MENACE from those who would make money.

    The same goes for today.

Men like Mushroom who are correct when they say.....I SERVE....THIS IS WHAT WE HAVE.....THIS IS WHAT IS USED....are telling the facts....as far as Mushroom knows them.

But after WWII....and after the incident in Roswell and in DC......TWICE.....2 TIMES.....once in the early 1950's and again in the early 1960's when hundreds of Alien Craft were overflying Washington DC.....and Langley Virgina and the Air Base there....well the Pilots when debriefed told stories of having the distinct impression..."WE WERE BEING PLAYED WITH!!"

The U.S. Military uses the best equipment out there save a few things and there are in fact U.S. Military BLACK PROGRAMS that exist over 100 years in Tech Advancement and some even greater than that.

The most basic indication such Programs exist is the U.S. Militaries continual development and testing of MICRO FUSION GENERATORS.

Low Temp.....NOT ROOM TEMP.....but Low Temp. in the sense the Fusion Reaction would not burn through containment and FRY EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING IN A FEW MILE RADIUS!!!

So....you don't need COLD FUSION but you need to have LOW TEMP. FUSION and for a person LOW TEMP. FUSION is well in any Temp Excess to BAKE YOU WHERE YOU STAND!!

But it is within our ability to CONTAIN THE REACTION!!

Plus the concept of it being a MICRO-FUSION REACTION helps.

So....what do you need with a Low Temp. Micro Fusion Generator?

Oh....well it would solve just about every probem on the face of the EARTH...that's all!!!

Low Temp. Fusion would allow us to have virtually unlimited power WITH ZERO RADIOACTIVE WASTE.....as Fusion simply is taking a number of Hydrogen Atoms and via Nuclear Fusion you get....HELIUM, A LOT OF ENERGY.....BUT NO NUCLEAR WASTE!!!

    Imagine what these could POWER?

They could eventually MAKE WAR OBSOLETE as there would no longer be ompetition for Oil and Gas and Coal...etc.

The United States ALONE is more than capable of growing enough food for every man, woman and child on Planet Earth.

So instead of burning Fossil Fuels....and this will take some time for such a large change in Economic Models....but one of my points is......by the time Russia get's around to getting and bringing Siberian Oil to Market......the U.S. will be ready to go another direction.

And I am sorry to say, but with this I AM DONE.

I do NOT DEAL IN CONSPIRACY THEORY, I do not TALK ABOUT BASELESS SSPECULATION, I only deal in HARD FACTS.

Have fun with continuing these kinds of conversations, but I am officially done with it as of now.

Stick to Conspiracy Theory, it seems where posts like this are more appropriate.

Well, I know you're excited by the prospect of Fusion power, but you also once said that it will only happen if the military decides to allow it for civilian use. Well, maybe they won't.

Prohibits building SECRET UNDERGROUND NUCLEAR FACILITIES as all Nuclear Facilities that a nation that was allowed to purchase Nuclear Reactor Tech. must be set up with IAEA DIGITAL VIDEO running 27/7 365 days a year.

Iran ripped out all the IAEA Digital Video Camera's.

The U.S. does not want to Invade Iran....quite the contrary as since over 70% of all Iranaian's are under the age of 30 years old and over 95% of Iranian's not only want Good Relations with the United States they want VERY CLOSE TIES AND ECONOMIC RELATIONS with the U.S.....it is just a matter of time.

A matter of 5 to 7 years as the Old Ayatollah's die out and Iran very well could become a very close U.S. Ally.

In the past our determination of who would become a U.S. Ally or Not in the Middle East was determined upon HOW MUCH OIL THEY HAVE.

This is no longer an issue as North America is calculated and this is a CONSERVATIVE ESTIMATE to have 6.1 TIMES THE AMOUNT OF OIL THAT EXISTS IN ALL THE MIDDLE EAST!!

It just took us time to develop the Technology to turn Shale and Canadian Sand Tar into Oil that was quick, cheap and easy.

The U.S. already has the worlds largest resourses of COAL my many times than that of the entire planet combined and China will become the number one customer of Canadian and U.S. Oil, Coal and LNG Exports....but we are perhaps 10 to 20 years away from VIABLE MICROFUSION GENERATORS.

By the time Russia even develops the ROADS AND INFRASTRUCTURE to get to the places in Western Siberia where the vast majority of Oil and Natural Gas exist as Eastern Siberia does not even have 7% of what Western Siberia has.....it will be too late.....as U.S. High Tech. will be concentrating on Fusion and Solar.

Russia had it's chance....and it could STILL TURN THINGS AROUND with our help...our being Canada and the U.S.

China has ZERO EXPERIENCE working and developing anything in SUPER COLD TEMPS.....the U.S. and Canada do!!

You know one would think that RUSSIA would have developed such Technology as you can't use ordinary materials used for warm weather Oil and Gas Drilling Platforms when Temps. decrease below -50 Below Zero F.

But for whatever reason....Russia simply did not develop Super Cold Weather Drilling and Infrastructure Development Tech.

The U.S. and Canada have over 100 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE.

And remember.....even Moscow and China consider the U.S. and Canada as ONE SINGLE ENTITY....because we are.

We could do so much to help you which would raise the standard of living for average Russian 10 to 20 fold within 5 to 10 years...and there would NEVER...EVER AGAIN BE TALK ABOUT A RUSSIAN/AMERICAN WAR!!!

    China??

No experience...and China will say and do ANYTHING to get it's hands on Russian Siberian Oil and Gas Reserves.

China could have 2 Million Chinese PLA Forces over the Russian/Chinese Boarder in 24 hours and short of RUSSIA NUKING THEIR OWN TERRITORY.....Russia simply does not have the manpower or Military to confront this.

    WE DO!!

Putin has made many speaches years ago about how CHINA CAN NEVER BE ALLOWED UNFETTERED ACCESS TO SIBERIAN ENERGY RESERVES!!!

The people of Russia have to WAKE UP now!!!

They have to realize that the United States and Canada are the only Nations that can be TRUSTED to work with Russia USING RUSSIAN WORKERS.....to first develop the Siberian Infrastructure as without ROADS, SUPPLY NETWORKS, AIRPORTS, HOUSING, WATER AND FOOD DISTRIBUTION NETWORKS...ETC...not to mention HOSPITALS, POLICE AND FIRE.....ETC....and before any DRILLING IS EVEN DONE.....this SYSTEM OF DISTRIBUTION AND INFRASTRUCTURE must first be developed in a manner that is purposeful and not haphazzard!!

Just to let members know who do not.....the United States has the WORLDS LARGEST INFRASTRUCTURE SYSTEM and U.S. Cargo Railways move more in a DAY than all of Europe move in a MONTH!!

In a single day there are thousands upon thousands of Passenger Jetliners flying in the United States more than the entire WORLD COMBINED.

Therre are currently 965 Million People flying Commercially in the U.S. a Year....JUST IN THE UNITED STATES.

What Freight MovesAlmost anything can be shipped by rail. Since each person in the U.S. requires the movement of approximately 40 tons of freight every year, many of the goods people use daily are either wholly shipped or contain components shipped by rail. Of rail freight, 91 percent are bulk commodities, such as agriculture and energy products, automobiles and components, construction materials, chemicals, coal, equipment, food, metals, minerals, and paper and pulp. The remaining 9 percent is intermodal traffic which generally consists of consumer goods and other miscellaneous products. [6]

Rail is efficient at moving heavy freight over long distances, as are water and pipeline freight services. Trucks excel in providing time-sensitive delivery services for high-value goods being transported over medium- and short-haul distances. Raw materials and heavy freight going long distances are likely to continue their journey by rail, or some combination of truck, rail, and water. With the future growth in freight, it is anticipated that freight rail will continue to make investments in the capacity required to move heavy and long-distance shipments. [7]

[6] Association of American Railroads, “Class I Railroad Statistics”, May 2012.
[7] Federal Railroad Administration, "National Rail Plan Progress Report", September 2010.

40 TONS OF of freight every year PER AMERICAN!!!

    320 Million American's means 40 x 320 Million = 1.28 BILLION TONS OF FRIEGHT A YEAR!!

This is more freight moved in one nation that THE REST OF EVERY NATIONS CARGO AND FRIEGHT TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM COMBINED.....by a factor of 5!!!

    You havn't answered my question.

    A) Which paragraph exactly prohibids building underground bases?
    B) Try providing some proofs for this as well:
Wasn't really interested in reading further
