Harris began kindergarten during the second year of Berkeley's school desegregation busing program, which pioneered the extensive use of busing to bring racial balance to each of the city's public schools; a bus took her to a school which two years earlier had been 95% white.[16][17] Her parents divorced when she was seven, and her mother was granted custody of the children.[9][7] After the divorce, when Harris was 12,[18] her mother moved with the children to Montreal, Québec, Canada, where Shyamala accepted a position doing research at Jewish General Hospital and teaching at McGill University.[19][20] Harris was enrolled at a neighborhood school for native French speakers.[21]

As a teenager she co-founded a small dance troupe of six dancers that played at community center and fundraisers.[22] At Westmount High School in Westmount, Quebec, she was a popular student.[23]

After graduating in 1981,[24][25] Harris majored in political science and economics at Howard University in Washington, D.C.[26][27] At Howard, she was elected to the liberal arts student council as freshman class representative, was a member of the debate team, and joined the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority.[26]

Harris returned to California, where she earned her Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, in 1989.[6][28] She was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1990.[29]

It looks like she does not owe her genius to attending integrated schools in Oakland. The reason she is so prominent is because most Californians her age ended up quite dumb after that madness, like many others throughout the country.

Keep pulling things out of your ass, maybe, somebody will believe it. Let's face it, she isn't your type and you determine that.

Your odd obsession with my ass is noted.

I thought you said kamala is a tough cookie? How tough do you have to be to pull race cards at every stop?

She even got a laugh from Biden! lol

Why wouldn't a person involved in busing from when they were 5 years old to 12 year old remember it? They don't bus you to the nearest school. Integration like that, usually happened in areas with court ordered busing, from what I've seen.

Busing was an expensive waste of money. No benefits were realized by those bused. The main opponents of busing were minority parents.

BTW the student demographics currently at Howard University show 85% black. Apparently Ms. Harris as a college student was not compelled to get a "better" education at a college in which the demographics modeled the US demographics. Curious that.

People naturally segregate themselves? Berkley did not send white kids to black schools, they got the three black schools and made them all one grade (junior high) and 2 grades (elementary) The 6 white schools each lost grades 5+6 to the black schools. and grad 9 to the black schools. Some whites were hurt but more blacks benefited than whites hurt.

And how do you make such a statement that the only ones who benefited were more light skinned. Where did you get that? The long time mayor of oakland was dark skinned, never mind black panther Bobby Seale.

Without photographic evidence we can’t know if it’s worth obsessing over.

No one benefited from busing except for the busing companies. Ask Kamala's parents (Jamaican and Indian) what they thought of the idea of putting their little girl in a bus and transporting her out of her neighborhood.

Kamala should start busing Mexifornia's homeless population into the gated communities that she and her elitist donors live in. That way the underprivileged kids who live in her district won't be the only kids who have to skirt the loads of human feces on the sidewalks as they walk to school.

As black parents at school boards complain, their kids should not be bused across town. The local public schools should be funded instead. You evidently are calling for segregation at public schools.

Hard not to laugh. She's a silver spooner who chose to attend a segregationist college. Kamala ought to explain why urban schools with billion dollar budgets are inferior to suburban schools with 1/100th the budget. The affirmative action chickens came home to roost in urban school districts. Colleges like Kamala's alma mater have zero admission standards, and lousy students become lousy teachers when liberal colleges rubber stamp teaching degrees. These urban kids are essentially seeking asylum from incompetent liberal educators in suburban schools. But no DNC union shill is ever going to come out and say it because they're responsible for it. Participation trophies ruined American academia.

Actually identity politics activists are actually proposing segregation in universities today. Minorities on the streets are dumbfounded by these morons.

Public school funding has been radically increased in places like New York City, Baltimore, St. Louis, Detroit, etc... and it hasn't improved academic performance, so why do you believe public school funding would fix anything?

Some of the best-funded public schools have the worst academic performance. New York City has the best-funded public schools in the nation, and they recently spent an additional 3/4ers of a billion dollars on their public schools, and it didn't accomplish anything. Nothing.

How many times do we have to conduct the "Throw money at the public schools!" experiment, and watch it fail miserably every time, before we face the plain fact that "Mo money!" isn't the solution to poor academic performance in the public schools?

Exactly. The solution is school vouchers for every student. But the D’s can’t buy votes and generate campaign funding by doing what they know to be the right thing.

They wanted it. They did not want to wait the 8 years that Berkley said it would take to equalize the support between the inner city and the outlining area. She would have been graduated by then. I have grown children, If I had a choice of a non-performing neighborhood school and a high performing one a 45 min bus ride away my kids would have better hoped they did not suffer from motion sickness.

Who said that the neighborhood schools were non performing ?? Why would you assume that the neighborhood schools were non performing ?? Busing was a colossal waste of money and time.

I don't know what they did in Berkeley, but in the south, the only kids who benefitted were black kids with middle to upper income parents, who are nearly all light-skinned compared to the average American black. The white kids all suffered from desegregation, while the average poor black kids gained nothing. And in case you doubt my word that people naturally segregate themselves, try going to a few churches, black, white, and Hispanic. In Broward county, there are Korean, Haitian, and Swedish churches. In northwest Indiana, there's an enormous Serbian church. You might find a scattering of other races/ethnicities in those churches, but they will be something like 90-95% all one brand.
