She wasn't not quoting anything. Summarize is a more appropriate word. But somehow, conservatives cannot tell the difference between the two.

Yes, and she "summarized" to exclude the key concern of the other side of the issue. Clearly intentional.

The pro-abortion crowd in this country is terrible about making its case, and Harris' speech was just another sad example of that fact. As I pointed out in Post #134, she could have made a case that included the right to life in the broadest sense of the term life but she fell into the trap of thinking of life in the same narrow sense that the anti-abortion crowd wants everyone to think of it in. She was correct to mention a woman's right to determine her own destiny and that's part and parcel of all the rights asserted in the Preamble of the DOI, not just liberty and "the pursuit of happiness".

This is what happens when you let your opponents dictate the language and the meaning of words in a debate, and she went wobbly where she could have and should have gone strong.

She didn't quote 2/3 of the rights asserted in the Preamble of the DOI?

Actually, she did. Go back and watch the video.

Omitting 1/3 of those rights is called negation, not summarization. Evidently, Leftists cannot tell the difference between the two. ;-)

Well just to be accurate the DoI says "endowed by THEIR Creator". They left it to interpretation who or what created, that we are endowed simply because we are created and those rights flow through that linage. That's why it does say "endowed by God". For me endowed by my parents who were endowed by theirs who were endowed by theirs and on and on throughout our common humanity and AT our creation, conception.

Which part and why did she have to bastardize the singular most historically important point in it?

The war began over a year before the passing of the DoI when British forces tried to seize the citizens arms.

And elective abortion, which is what the abortion issue is about, is about the PURPOSELY killing of the unborn baby by it's mother, not about NOT becoming pregnant in the first place. But your need to try and conflate noted.

We are not saying we are DEMONSTRATING how she bastardized one of the most historically iconic phrases in the history of mankind and western civilization and asking why did she have a need to do so and should a VICE PRESIDENT of the United States engage in such a rhetorical lie of omission.

Not blacks, slaves were counted 3/5 not of a "vote" but of a "person" for apportionment purpose and it was the northern non-slave states who did not want them to be recognized as "persons" while the slave states did. Native Americans were citizens of their own nations.

    So your attempted diversions aside.

You do realize that during the debates over the Constitution there was one movement that wanted to declare a "king". It was about establishing our nation on those self-evident truths about our fundamental rights with which we are created and did so in that historically iconic phrase which she choose to bastardize. Why did she feel a need to do so and more importantly though she could get away with it?

Yes Jefferson was a highly educated man who relied on the influence of many scholars and philosophers in writing the DoI. Is there some reason you keep repeating it?

Here is Looke speaking on the matter and what HE described a commonwealth based on "civil interest" not self-evident truths with which we are endowed, that was Jefferson.

"The commonwealth seems to me to be a society of men constituted only for the procuring, preserving, and advancing their own civil interests. Civil interests I call life, liberty, health, and indolency of body; and the possession of outward things, such as money, lands, houses, furniture, and the like."

She omitted one single word from the only sentence that anyone ever quotes.

Well he passed some legislation to take on Disney, after the revelation of their "not so secret gay agenda", removing some kind of sweetheart deal that they had. Then there was what the media dishonestly, and stupidly called the "don't say gay bill." These are just two prior to the election. And what happened? He won in a TOTAL LANDSLIDE! :roflol:

Well yeah. Because by saying "life" in a pro-abortion speech, it would have totally destroyed her own argument! :roflol:

She was pretty much quoting the only sentence in the Declaration of Independence that anyone ever quotes.
The only difference is that her version omitted the word which would have destroyed her pro-abortion argument! :roflol:
