In the broader picture, this is classic DemocRat tactics. Feinstein had the letter for 8 weeks before revealing it, and additional information in August. Yet she withheld it from everyone - until the process was almost over and Kavanaugh had done se well that he was a certain appointment. This type of smear is typical of DemocRats, they have been doing it for decades. When they cannot stop an appointment by honest means then they make something up.

And her claims are already falling apart. She cannot remember the time or place, she cant remember how she got there. The so-called lookout says it never happened. The other person who was supposed to be there says it never happened. Her analysts notes don't corroborate her current story.

She also is a rabid Trump hater, a long term far left supporter, she donated to Bernie. She has a political motive.

There is nothing other than her questionable word to support her vague claim. On the other side, there are over 65 women who have come forward supporting Kavanaugh and claiming a rape was totally unbelievable, all of Kavanaughs background investigations (6 total) have not revealed anything even remotely violent in the mans past.

She is either blatantly lying or has a severe mental problem.

Her claims are already falling apart. Just because someone makes a claim does not mean it has to be entertained.

There is no reason to rush thru a lifetime appointment. He may or may not have done it, but the ONLY reason to not vet this properly is because of partisan bias. If this was a dem nominated judge I would feel the same way.

This should have come out sooner, but that is on Feinstein, not the accuser. And the accompanying accounts lend to her being credible in general. The fact that she doesn't remember all of the details of that night is not only believable, but makes her sound more credible to me. She isn't pretending to have every little thing memorized from so many decades ago, and it sounds like that school had a problem with partying and drinking so she may well have been at multiple parties like this. Also putting another witness in the room who is likely to support the judge isn't something you would do if you were contriving something from scratch.

Not to say he did it, but if he didn't do exactly what she described I think it is likely that he was just acting like a drunk teenage idiot in an era when men (and boys) were more empowered to take advantage of girls and women with little to no repercussion. And maybe she remembers differently than he does, maybe she's embellishing all these years later under the new light of #metoo revelations, and yeah sure maybe it's all made up. But the likelyhood is that something happened. And to me there is enough of a chance that he did it, that there is no harm in slowing down to investigate. The Senate is safe for the GOP, and probably safer if this is investigated. So do it.

The silly poll might as well ask "do you still beat your wife". Virtually all the me-to incidents have one thing in common.... there is more than one victum. Where are the other Kavanaugh victums?

I didn't like this poll's choices very much, but the essence of what we MUST do now is this --

Invite this Christine Blasey Ford to testify under oath before the Judiciary Committee in Washington D. C. next Monday. (already offered)

Or send a delegation to California NOW and question her under oath there. (already offered)

If this woman has credible PROOF AND EVIDENCE that Kavanaugh committed some kind of sex crime against her thirty-five years ago, then that evidence should be presented fully at a subsequent, and immediate, Senate vote for-or-against confirmation. (Obviously, there couldn't be a criminal trial because the Statute of Limitations had expired decades ago)

If there is no credible PROOF AND EVIDENCE to support her charges, that, too, should be announced to the Senate, and the vote for-or-against Kavanaugh's confirmation should proceed immediately.

And, in that event, criminal charges should then be brought against Christine Blasey Ford for making false statements to the government, deliberate obstruction of justice, and deliberate interference with the lawful, prescribed processes of the government of the United States. Civil charges should also be brought immediately by Brett Cavanaugh, charging her with LIBEL and SLANDER!

It's a terrible thing when some vicious faction deliberately conspires to use any means necessary to destroy a man for political advantage!

How else can they get someone like Fauxahontas into office? This is just an extension on the war on straight white males.

    And what a war

Some universities are toying with the idea of obtaining written permission from the woman before having sex

No wonder liberal men are turning into Pajama Boys and the women are becoming lesbians

As has been mentioned her timing is certainly suspect. While it is true, that victims of a traumatic event, can often take years to come forward due to conflicted feelings they may have about what happened, or unwillingness to re-traumatize themselves, or just plain fear...

But she is suspect, in the exact timing of her ability to gather her resolve and confront her alleged attacker. Just now, after decades, she sees a need to protect people from this vicious attacker. All those years, when he could have been potentially dangerous to so many women, she could not muster the courage to out him. But now, as he is poised to advance in his position, when his behavior would be under the utmost scrutiny, and thus less likely to assault anyone, she has this...duty to protect...

In addition, we are talking about high school kids. Are we seriously going to prosecute all middle age people for the crimes they may, ( or may not), have committed in high school based on decades old recollections and little else?

It remains to be seen, if she can scrape up any collaborating witness, or even a single other offended party. But I think they should have proceeded with his appointment on the basis of presumed innocence.

You know full well this isn't even an option on the table for Kavanaugh. If he goes after her for defamation, she will have full access to discovery to defend herself. That means deposing all sorts of folks under oath, including but not limited to the people she already told about this 5 years ago, Kavanaugh's friend Mr. Judge, and of course Kavanaugh. And possibly other kids from his time as a teenager. It won't be limited to just the accusations, either, it would delve into the environment he put himself in as a teenager. All that will serve to do is make him look bad publicly, assuming there is validation to the drunken debauchery that his own pal has previously acknowledged. Kavanaugh himself won't be able to hide behind "what happened in high school stays in high school" because he cannot prove defamation if he cannot prove beyond doubt that she is lying.

This would be the worst thing he could possibly do.

The utter lack of evidence that he did do it would be a good start...

I don't know. It's impossible to tell in today's polarized and ultra partisan atmosphere where each side will do anything in an attempt to destroy and discredit the other side. One can't tell whether this is true or just a partisan political ploy in hopes to delay everything until after the midterms in hopes one takes control of the senate. I wouldn't put anything past either major party.

conservatives did not feel that way about Senator Franken, Cosby, or Weinstein

strangely, that's how they felt about Bill O'LIElly, Roger Ailes, and Roy Moore

Yes. Of course there is collateral evidence. Several people say she talked about this before it became an issue. The year book confirms this was a heavy drinking school The guy himself and his friend have obliquely referenced things from their school days that would best remain in the past

Not enough to convict a person at trial, but imo enough to raise high suspicion

Given Kavanaugh's classmate's memoir of their debauchery at Georgetown Prep, Waisted, in which he describes "Brent O'Kavaugh" so drunk he passed out, I would not be surprised if it happened and he just doesn't remember.

No matter what happens, this won't help Republicans in November.

Conservatives had nothing to do with bringing down those horney libs

Its somewhat reassuring to know that some men on the left are still men who can still get it up

even if they are unscrupulous sex fiends

As for roy moore leave him out of the hall of shame because the charges against him were bs

I find it extremely telling that the WH is doing everything they can to NOT have the FBI do its traditional job of investigating for background as it has always done and that the supposed "Liar" is almost begging for them to do so. This seems totally backwards in that the folks claiming innocence do not want law enforcement to look into who they claim is the guilty party in order to clear their name and prove their case. This stinks to high heaven and if he gets confirmed the SCOTUS will lose the ability to function properly as it will be tainted beyond repair.

A very close personal friend of mine is a retired SVU Detective. Yes, SVU, like "Law & Order: SVU", except not in NYC. When I asked him for his professional opinion about this, he almost pissed himself laughing. Per his professional opinion, such a claim wouldn't be given a moment of serious investigatory time.

statute of limitations have expired so there wouldn't be anything he could begin to do, that's why he's laughing - of course if it was his daughter who had been victimized he would likely be thinking quite differently

It must have taken you forever to speak to ALL of them, (conservatives), to ascertain those facts, because I know you wouldn't make statements like that, unless you had proof. ( God knows you request it of others often enough!).
