Kevin McCarthy Is All Bark And No Bite

I saw McCarthy on TV and had to laugh. After explaining how bad our southern border situation is he is going to "start an inquiry" for Mayorkas next year. Where has McCarthy been for the past two years. And here we go with another investigation. Why not go after Biden, where the buck stops? Heck, Trump was impeached twice. I'll only be impressed when Biden is impeached for his handling of our southern border.

If the really cared about the border, they would pass legislation. The current version of our INA was passed in 1965. It’s out of date, and not designed to deal with our current situiation.

 

Indeed. That one is a snivelling coward who caved in to trump one week after his failed coup attempt.
Repubs are bereft of leadership and can only cower in fear that trump will unleash his maga mob against them if they dare to speak the truth.

McCarthy won't have the votes to impeach, but I think he'll give it the ol college try. That's the barking you were talking about.

The new GOP majority in the house would pass border legislation if only the GOP in the house voted. See, there are the pesky dems in the house to contend with.

 

They will have a majority.

Yes, They will have a majority. I see 3 impeachments on the horizon:
(1) Homeland Security - Mayorkas
(2) DOJ - Garland
(3) president - Biden

 

That should solve things.

 

I repeat, they won't find the votes to impeach the President or Garland. They will pass some legislation but nothing big and scary is going to reach the Senate floor. They can only engage in political theater, so we will see a lot of clips from Tony award winning performances where the shows have closed long before the annual awards ceremony..

 

The majority has spoken. Maybe we'll have a secure border? Maybe DOJ won't harass people just for political reasons? Maybe Biden will be replaced by a president who doesn't already have prior financial relations with other countries?

 

Congress needs to pass some type of comprehensive immigration reform.

Our current INA is 60 years old.

 

Congress hasn't. Congress won't. It'll be up to the executive, er, not up to the executive while Biden is still president.

 

None of them actually want to fix the border. They need it to be a campaign issue.

 

Border security is an issue of The Constitution. As an analogy, one could debate fixing holes in the dike while water pours in but the dry land is inundated with water if the dike holes aren't fixed.

 

Our immigration law is not designed to address our current situation. It is over 60 years old.

It doesn't matter who the president is, the law needs to be remade.

 

It needs to be done now. Is congress gonna get a new immigration law now? No.

 

Trump was building a wall, he was enforcing the law and the Constitution.

 

The border situation isn't going to get better with the law that is in place.

 

Border crossings were rising under Trump in the year before covid hit.

 

The law the previous poster is referring to is a legislative law and we all know there won't be any agreement or any passage of a new legislative immigration law anytime soon...It's up to the executive and the current executive (and Homeland Security) are doing nothing.

 

The crisis is now. Something has to be done now.

 

There isn't anything that can be done, because the law is inadequate.

it's been a crisis for almost 20 years.

 

Other countries protect their border but the USA can't !!! -- interesting how the politicians, the media, and some on this forum think we can't stop an unarmed invasion of our soil. We put a man on the moon and returned him to the USA. We built the Panama Canal. We defeated the Germans. We defeated the Italians. We defeated the Japanese. We defeated the British. We defeated the Confederates. So now for years we have foreigners sneaking (why do they have to sneak) across our southern border and we need a law to stop them -- "Beam me up Scotty, there's no intelligent life down here."
