America is a very big diverse country, and also takes in lots of immigrants. There is a huge amount of wealth, and there does exist opportunity, but there is also much poverty too. The country is currently experiencing a severe employment problem also, so it is not easy for everyone to find decent jobs.

Homelessness has been a long-standing problem in the U.S. ever since the end of the Civil War. It became a bigger problem in the 1920's, then appeared to get better, then began to reemerge in the 1970's, became a big problem in the last decade.

 

There is no doubt that obama has us in a nose dive to becoming a banana republic,

but I know America will survive in spite of our poor choice in leaders.

 

It's not Obama, it's the policy decisions made over the years, particularly with regard to chronic overspending, uncontrolled and excessive immigration, and various Free Trade policies.

The film clearly shows the man killed managed to grab a gun. Its tragic but the usual attempt to turn it into a race issue is bull sheeyit.

The issue here is another one.The US has millions living on its streets.Many of these homeless are drug addicted and mentally ill.

Police are not well equipped to deal with mentally ill people.

Its easy for arm chair experts after the fact to say how they should act with the mentally ill in the heat of the moment, the fact is however they are not psychiatrists, not psychiatric nurses or psychiatric orderlies. Its tragic but the issue here is another mentally ill person dying after an altercation with the police. His skin colour was not the issue, his being mentally ill is.

We don't know what to do with our mentally ill and we throw them out on the streets and ultimately its up to the police to deal with them when they get violent.Stop scapegoating the police and look at the institutions and social network in our society dealing with the mentally ill and point the finger at how we delegate authority to this social system and how its failed.

The usual idiots have come out calling this an attack on a black man. It was a colour blind attack. The real issue is police are not well equipped to control mentally ill people who lose control. Its a training issue not a race issue.

People see what suits their agenda.By turning it into a race issue, they justify their own feelings of insecurity or failure and to little for the very people who need help in this case which are the mentally ill.

I hate tazers.I believe in using foam that forms to a hard cement in seconds as an outshell cacooning the target but staying unabrasive in the inside and can be chipped away quickly but still firmly encases the subject.

I also believe in fish nets. I do not like pepper spray or tazers.

Anyone who has worked with the mentally ill knows a very frail man in a psychotic frenzy can gain 1o-many other times his strength. When police move in within confined quarters to try neutralize the subject they fall all over each other and can get bitten.

Fishnets or foam. We need to revise close in, hand to hand techniques with the mentally ill.

Tranquilizer darts as well. They should also be reviewed as an option. They are not used for fear they could kill a cop if accidentally used against a cop. I agree but not if someone is called in and administers the sedation by a trigger device not a gun on a long handle-barel delibery device type stick similar to the ones divers use with sharks.
