IN VIETNAM, gi'S USED TO THROW THEIR AMERICAN MADE CRAP AWAY AND USE aK-47'S IF THEY COULD GET THEIR HANDS ON THEM
The British Canadian colonies did not produce a study suggesting the United States was stupid for not knowing it's capital... while preparing for a bicentennial of a war that took place before they existed... Canada did. So again... what do you think Canada is?
what was going on at the time when the study was done in no way changes the fact that americans are ignorant of geography
I don't think you do. You clearly have no understanding of the consciousness of the French Canadians during the era from the end of the Seven Years War through the Napoleonic Wars.
I guess that is one way to concede. The Canadian government being ignorant of the wars it has fought in is pretty funny when addressing the lack of education of children in the US.
You're right. Most Americans don't know much about geography. I think their lack of knowledge is reminiscent of your own lack of knowledge about the peoples of Canada.
You apparently don't think much of the American public school system. I am forced to agree. But I would like to draw your attention to the fact that the American public school system is controlled by elements of the leftist political coalition in the US. It is the American left that is responsible for the educational deficiencies of the American people.
I have a very good idea. - - - Updated - - - the Canadian government is well aware of what wars the inhabitants of Canada in all its iterations have fought in.
You're not the Canadian govt. You're an Australian. How do you know the about the consciousness of French Canadians during the aforesaid era?
I don't particularly car WHY you are ignorant. - - - Updated - - - because I have studied their history since I was 10 years old, lived among them most of my life and have many French Canadian friends and relatives
I have you as Exhibit A. Your words betray your lack of knowledge. I just don't think you are likely to have focused on this subject during the era in question. There is a superficial element in your analysis. You draw no distinctions between the people of French Canada and their British masters. I recommend you study the reaction of the French conquered by George Rogers Clark and his men in the Northwest Territories during America's revolutionary war. If you understood their reaction it might tell you something of the mindset of the French Canadians during this era. It might also help if you were familiar with Benedict Arnold's attempt to conquer Quebec during the Revolutionary War and the American invasion of Ontario in 1812. There was an evolution of consciousness among the French Canadians during this period.
I am far from ignorant about geography. It is good that you confess your lack of knowledge. The realization that superficial contact does not impart an understanding of either geography or history is the beginning of the journey of learning.
But, H&H, H&K, Glock, Purdey and Beretta aren't Canadian made. Colt has manufacturing and partner agreements with Canada (Colt Canada Corporation) which was formed when Canada decided to go with the Colt M16 (and various derivatives of that platform) for their military. Para-Ordnance is the only "Canadian" gun manufacturer that I know of. Diemaco used to be, but they were bought out by Colt Canada Corp. Tobin started in the U.S. and moved to Canada, so I guess you could argue they are now a Canadian company. Savage as manufacturing up there also.
I am well aware of all of that and none of it has any bearing on the fact that Americans invaded upper and lower Canada and were resisted by upper Canadian militias , newly arrived American immigrants, lower Canadian militias , British regulars and various native allies.
I did nothing of the kind. I have studied Canadian history and geography all my life. and the added benefit of experiencing the culture firsthand gives me an understanding that mere students can never have.
Yes, because God knows not knowing the capitol of your country is is the be all example of how stupid a country is (eye roll).
but not knowing the political structure and geography of your largest trading partner and major foreign supplier of your energy needs certainly is
