Immigrate legally or (*)(*)(*)(*)! It's about time we made eVerify mandatory for all current and future businesses. The SSA and IRS are all too well aware of multiple people using a single social security number. With modern computer databases, it wouldn't be hard to pluck out all the duplicate, non issued or under age users excepting the original issuee. Then send notices to their employers the duplicate users payments are coming from that there appears to be an error and they must verify the social security number within 30 days or face massive fines and jail time. Make sure they can't get regular jobs and they'll go home on their own. as far as the employers that hire them, they should be given community service..................1 years on the county chain gang for each illegal they employed. It would stop real quick. Of course I would offer limited legal residence for those illegals that testify with a conviction against their former employers.

It's obvious that the Left and Right will not agree on illegal immigration. At least not enough to change minds in Washington. But could we agree on talking our legislators to make E-verify the law of the land?

Nope, Quality is a factor. Why do you think America needs more unskilled laborers?

We have plenty of them already.

You and guttermouth are clueless, the vast majority of Mexicans have little or no Spanish blood mixed in with them, read more, post less.

More delusion from the right, many Mexicans that came here have good skills, ever seen a home community built?

Then dont cry when wages for those people goes down or is stagnant. What happens when supply goes up but demand remains the same?

Getting a Green Card is not as quick and simple as you seem to think, make the process smoother and you may find out more would take that route, it costs them a lot more to come here the illegal way than the legal one, but time is against them.

Id rather you felt compassion for your fellow countrymen looking for work, before youd champion the plight of illegal aliens.

I am not championing illegals, but I do say if they want to be Americans I have no problem with them earning it. I know more than a few people looking for work but none of them is threatened by illegals becoming Americans.

Illegals take jobs Americans don't want cause the pay is too little, the work is too hard, or the job is "beneath them".

The same people who are in favor of amnesty are opposed to E-verify so the answer to your question is no.

There was nothing important about it.

What I want to tell you is that you are unrealistic if you want welfare cut. How do you expect to get minorities to cut their own welfare? As more minorities come here, which is what you're okay with, they will vote for more welfare and your cause has become hopeless.

    - - - Updated - - -

This will change American politics to the left. IT will make us another Mexico. How do you expect America to be the leader of the world when we favor the poorest of the poor?

I said I want for open immigration as long as we have a welfare state. Where did you come up with my "new position"? By selective editing. Go work for msnbc.

There is absolutely ZERO benefit from allowing the dregs of a failed country to come to ours. They failed where they came from. They will fail here too. EVERYWHERE illegals live, they bring poverty, crime, and blight. The more we let in the more they multiply, the more blight they bring. Its OBVIOUS!!! Its so simple. You STOP allowing them to live here. You remove everything that makes their life better here than where they came from. Liberals have to stop with this bleeding heart B.S. They are purposely bringing this country down for votes. VOTES!!!! How can an intelligent person think allowing the dregs of another country into ours is a good idea. You can't be. They ONLY reason is for some freakish idea of self gain and political power which should frighten everyone.

I support a path to citizenship for any illegal immigrant that currently has a job. Though this would not be a freebie, they would pay a fine of $5000 that can be paid over a 5 year period, or a lump payment. Also support a path for children who were not born in the USA. However the legal guardians of these children would pay a fine of $5000 per child.
Anyone not employed will have a set timetable(1 year) from time of application to find employment in order to apply for citizenship and they too would be subject to the $5000 fine. Any illegal who wishes to stay in the country and not get work would have to pay a fine of $10000 dollars in order to apply for citizenship. However this plan can be paid off in a up to 10 year plan
Any fines will be subject to the 1 year per $1000 owed up to 15 years to pay off the fines. Anyone who has not satisfactorily paid the fines off in the required time will be subject to deportation
This offer would be on the table for 2 years after which anyone who did not apply for the program within the year, to include their children will be subject to deportation.
After this I would also propose the following. First if a woman comes into the USA illegally and has a baby, that baby is not a citizen and both are subject to deportation. Anyone from the time of passage on who enters the country illegally will be subject to deportation. Also start enforcing all immigration laws we have to include going after employers who hire illegals. Also increased border security to prevent future illegals from entering.

Why do they need a green card, there are numerous visas they can get, to include border crossing cards and special visas limited to only them (TN Visa). If they only are coming here to work, why don't they apply for the non-immigrant visas?

A GC is only if they wish to immigrate here and become LPR or USC.

    - - - Updated - - -

There is NO industry in the US that has more illegals than Citizens or LPR's. Every feild/trade is majority LPR/Citizen, to inlcude Agriculture.

Why not allow them to apply for a non-immigrant/immigrant visa instead? If they could get the visa, they then could apply for LPR/GC status after 5 years, provided their visa would allow for change of status. This would legalize them and make them continue the process, if not they get orders of deportation and are banned for life from the US. Penalties and fines could be added, to include full back ground checks.

thats actually not true they take any job that doesnt require special training or a college degree. that "jobs americans dont want" argument is a tired fallacy.

We have plenty who won't work. Unskilled labor is exactly what we do need more of and immigrants, legal or otherwise, are willing to do it.

The minimum wage of legal immigrants is at or above the federal minimum wage. It is the officially determined "prevailing wage" depending on location and job category. If this were your objection, you should support amnesty/legalization.
