I think that most conservatives know that Trump is corrupt as hell and really don’t care, because they think he advances their cause.

How you do make sure the president has or hasn’t. Congress in a bipartisan mode showed that Nixon had. Thank you. That was the question. In the committee’s vote on the three articles of impeachment you had Republicans voting for the articles on 29/30 July 1974. Article I 6 republicans yes, 11 No. Article II 7 Republicans yes, 19 No, and Article III 2 Republicans yes, 15 No. The full house never voted on the articles; Nixon resigned prior to that vote. Compare that 1974 process and vote to Trump’s. Strictly party line, no bipartisan approach. Of course, the reason behind that, the purely partisan approach is the Democrats are convinced Trump has committed the crimes, Republicans totally convinced he hasn’t. Unlike 1974 when at least a third of Republicans were convinced of Nixon’s guilt. With Trump, impeachment is 100% partisan, only one party wants him gone. With Nixon it was more bipartisan and acknowledging by both he had committed the crimes. Bill Clinton’s impeachment also falls into the 100% partisan affair.

And yes, I meant destroy. But anyone with a bit of political savvy in today’s highly polarized political world with ultra high partisanship knew impeachment would be coming if the House returned to democratic control. That didn’t take a rocket scientist. As for making up the impeachment, I kept hearing from different democratic congress critters that Trump should be impeached since shortly after Jan 2017. You can tell how much Democrats hated Trump by looking at his approval numbers at the end of Jan 2017 comparing them to other president’s approval numbers at the same point by the opposing party. Trump was never given a honeymoon, something all other presidents had. He was never given a chance as opposing parties always give other presidents. Compare the approval numbers of the differing presidents to Trump’s by the other party.

1 Feb numbers of the inauguration year.

2017 Trump 9% of democrats approved

2009 Obama 41% of Republicans approved

    2001 G.W. Bush 32% of Democrats approved

1993 Bill Clinton 33% of Republicans approved

    1989 G.H.W. Bush 38% of democrats approved

1981 Reagan 39% of Democrats approved

1977 Carter 49% of Republicans approved

I know that is Job approval numbers. But what they show is at least a third of the member of the opposite party were willing to give the new incoming president a chance. Not so with Trump. The attitude was among democrats, “Let’s get Trump.” That has been the Democrat’s mission since day one.

So you just came here to try to change the subject, by which you let us know that you won't answer the question on the OP?

It figures. The most loyalist among the Trump loyalist refuse to because they know the answer would not benefit their idol.

I think that a basic expectation of our leaders to act in a patriotic way, and not partisan, start by Americans doing the same.

Stop evading. Answer the question! That's the topic of this thread.

    You can't, can you?

Amazing: Any patriotic American should be able to respond in a heartbeat and without all this dodging.

your whole thread is a non-starter. There is nothing here, Trump even released the transcript of the call. THERE IS NOTHING HERE. Even if Trump had told Ukranian president 'look into possible corruption tied to Biden or no aid' and it's in transcripts IT'S STILL NOT A CRIME OR IMPEACHABLE. Biden is NOT ABOVE THE LAW just because he is a political rival. What he did was terribly suspicious and questionable and SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED.

THERE IS NOTHING HERE... and this is why no republican, not a single one, voted to impeach and senate trial will dismiss this garbage FAST

    1. I'm don't care what Democrats think. I'm sick of their lying and bullying. They've been bullying conservatives and lying about them since 1980. Everything most Democrats believe is a lie.

    2. House Democrats did a shiity job investigating, they can sit in the in the mess they made. Tough cookies

    You are evading my questions.

I can't think of any way other than subpoenaing witnesses and documents for a fair Impeachment Trial.

It's the only guaranteed way which is specifically written in the Constitution.

And, as another poster accurately pointed out, we can only be absolutely sure if the evidence is enough to convince two thirds of the population.

I don't doubt that anybody with enough political savvy to see that Trump has been abusing power since his first day in office would consider the possibility that the House might Impeach him for it if they took control. But I don't know of anybody of any consequence who "knew" or even wanted that.

As for Democrats hating Trump, That's irrelevant. Anybody who is not a blind Trump loyalist hates Donald Trump. Even his own family hates him. I just think there has to be something wrong with anybody who doesn't hate a d-bag who adopts a policy to separate children from their family and put them in cages with no intention to ever re-unite them again.

It can be very disorienting arguing with someone like yourself who can read the words Trump used to extort Zelensky and then claim it didn't happen. Factual debate becomes a non-starter.

I don't hate. I'm not pro Trump and not anti Trump. I don't care if he stays or goes. That is for the two major parties to battle out. I do care for fairness. The Democratic controlled house wasn't fair in my opinion, so I don't expect the Republican controlled senate to be fair. Partisanship wins out in both chambers because in each chamber, those who controlled it wanted guaranteed results.

I do see a lot of democrats now who condemn Trump for doing the same thing Obama did. Separating children was done during Obama also. It probably wasn't something either president said, let's do. It was done by the agency in charge.

I'm a weird type of guy, I believe what is good for a person or a political party ought to be good for everyone else or other political parties. More or less, if it was good for the gander, then its good for the goose to do the same things or not doing them as long as it applies to both.

I see the house making their own set of rules, so why not the senate? I see democrats with their minds made up, so why not Republicans. I see democrats as partial as all get out, pre-judging, so why not Republicans?

Kick Trump out or let him stay, but do so in a fair, equatable way. If your side is biased as hell, why not the other side being biased? It seems to me what we have here is one party saying, "Do as I say, not as I do."

Wearing mismatched socks is impeachable. This is a political action, not a judicial one. Laws and crimes are not required. Since there were no crimes, the House dems have proved that.

You sound like that is a bad thing. The people, seeing how horrible a human Trump is, were motivated to fight back. The marches were just the beginning. They resulted in the flipping the House for to the Democrats and getting Trump impeached. 52% of the people want him gone.

lol, you gotta love these dems/lefties/liberals. They change the rules in the house - deliberate, conduct hearings behind closed doors, don't allow president to defend himself, are selective with witnesses, even fabricate statements that Trump never made. Then they expect the senate to be fair... LOL! Karma..

Trump NEVER extorted Zelensky, even Zelensky said so. Nowhere in the call does it point to a clear quid pro quo. These are JUST FACTS.

but forget this. Even if there were a CLEAR quid pro quo, IMO, IT DOESN'T FREAKING MATTER. The president of the U.S. should ask countries to look into possible corruption. Asking a foreign country to look into possible corruption IS NOT A CRIME, especially when it involves what Joe Biden did as VP. Joe Biden has admitted to a quid pro quo. The irony here, we are going after Trump for a quid pro quo yet Joe Biden is 100% guilty but MUCH WORSE as Biden was demanding Ukraine stop prosecuting a company his son worked for. This is MUCH WORSE and Biden doesn't even deny it. Not to mention Hunter was earning a big sum of money for doing nothing, talk about corruption! The son of a VP making big bucks in a corrupt company and then his dad bailing him out by abusing his power as VP of US. Trump asking Ukraine to look into this is, IMO, HIS DUTY. Is Joe Biden ABOVE THE LAW? can he just claim he can't be investigated because he is a political rival?

So with Biden, a CLEAR quid pro quo under much more dark circumstances (hiding corruption and protecting his son) and with Trump, NO CLEAR EVIDENCE of a quid pro quo but even if it happened, just so Ukraine merely 'looks' into possible corruption. It wasn't like it was a quid pro quo in exchange for something criminal, which is quite possible with what Biden did.

There is a reason not a single republican and a couple of democrats voted NO..

You can pick and choose your poll or go by RCP averages.

    https://www.realclearpolitics.com/e...ment_and_removal_of_president_trump-6957.html

My point is we have one party that wants Trump gone, the other party who wants him to stay, with a plurality of independents, the less to non-partisan, quite a lot in neither the pro nor the anti Trump camps against impeachment and removal 47-42 against.

    https://www.realclearpolitics.com/e...t_and_removal_of_trump_independents-6960.html

I just want this whole thing over with. whether Trump goes or stays is irrelevant. I'm just sick and tired of all this BS from both major parties.
