How can this not be on most people's Top 5 greatest action/adventure/sci-fi movies of all time ? It was beyond raw and intense. Character development was prime - especially Billy's character who is one bad ass. The plot is so simple - an alien who hunts humans - it is unnerving and so brilliantly directed and filmed. Let's here it for Predator !
"Bunch of slack-jawed f(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)s around here! This stuff will turn you into a *******n sexual tyrannosaurus, just like me".
Awesome movie! "Son of a (*)(*)(*)(*)(*) is dug in like an Alabama tick"
Since I've first seen it I've been waiting for someone to tell me "you're bleeding". So I could reply in the most appropriate and awesome way. Has not happened yet. I should be less careful with sharp instruments.
Sir, if you were not Canadian, I would vote for you for president. Hell, I might write you in anyway. They just don't make action movies like they used to.
Arnie's second best movie, after the original Terminator. Predator 2 is actually a decent action movie as well. - - - Updated - - - John McTiernan was the man back in the day.
I grew up on Die Hard and Lethal Weapon. We didn't do Disney. That stuff will stunt your growth. I have to say though I have never seen the original Predator.
oO really? Never? I would fix that post-haste. Especially if you love Die Hard and Lethal Weapon. It's an amazing movie.
Never seen it. I saw the second one though. My brother's friend brought it over one day and I watched it with them. Haven't seen the new one though. I'm not convinced that they weren't just milking it and it isn't a piece of crap.
Everything past the first 2 are just cash-ins. The first one is one of the best action movies ever made, while the second one is a hilariously weird off-beat red-headed step nephew of the first.
The latest movie (Predators) is not a masterpiece and neither super bad, but keep far away from the two Alien-Predator crossover movies. Those are horribly bad.
OMG! Why are you are underestating how awful they were. I am a Predator and Alien fanboy to the point where I even bought the latest AvP game despite its reviews. The movies were just bad bad bad. I actually didn't mind the Predator's movie though. Wasn't as bad as I was expecting it of course for the weirdness of seeing trees and plants that I have camped around on an "alien" planet but oh well, certainly not the only movie that has that issue.
The problem with them is that while they sort of work okay as Predator movies, they totally fail as Alien movies. If I wasn't such an Alien fanboy, I probably would have enjoyed them more.
If you had said in 1987 that two Predator stars would go on to be governors, you would have been tossed in a padded cell. Reality *is* stranger than fiction.
You can also add to that list: Jingle all the Way Junior Batman & Robin and even though some people enjoy it, I'd personally add Twins as well. If you amend the original statement to read "All Arnold action movies are epic", then I'd agree, for the most part (I thought Last Action Hero and The Last Stand were both kinda "meh"). Especially 80's Arnold action movies = awesome God-like epicness (and I'd include T2 and Total Recall in there, even though they were from the early 90s). Now I think I may have to break out a few Arnold classics this weekend.
I took issue with the movie initially. Jesse Ventura uses a hand-held mini gun which requires external power, and thy are fed with 4400 round magazines. The recoil would be uncontrollable and the torque would be a problem for an individual to handle on an unmounted mini-gun. Having seen these weapons in action, it is truly awe inspiring. Understandably Hollywood likes to use poetic license, so to speak, and present a visual symphony of violence with a character in a movie using one of these mini-guns as a squad automatic weapon.. In practice however, it would be impractical. A mini-gun needs to be mounted on some sort of platform with ready access to external power to be more effectively used. I'm providing a visual reference of another character in the film using the back-pack version of the mini-gun... Bear in mind, these are blanks they are using which significantly lessens the recoil, and I'm guessing an external power source is being used that is out of the frame of reference. A back pack mounted battery system would be extremely heavy, let alone the ammunition.
Sure, but it's Jesse Ventura you're talking about. He doesn't need an external power source. His minigun is powered by awesome.
