Since the situation did not escalate beyond that, pretty sure you are wrong.

So no Aussies ever fight or assault with weapons, just sing kumbaya and drink beer? Sounds like some fantasy, utopia.

Anyhow, as long as I dont perceive a credible threat, my guns remain unloaded. No 'living in fear''.

I don't need to. Ultimately, when it is all distilled down, people carry a weapon either as a tool of aggession, or because they fear being the victim of an aggressor.

Clever Cain......and his House was eventually destroyed by a zillion handguns. Neat, hey. Let that one sink in for a while, and you'll get it. :)

    Occassionally...

You inferred you had some grand point to make based on the answer to that question though. Is that still the case?

How simplistic and erroneous. I guess in your mind, no one hunts or just shoots beer cans for the hell of it? Used to walk the river for miles on fossil hunts, always took a gun just for the fun of plinking in the wilderness. Just for the fun of it.

Guns tend to be fun, for men that enjoy manly things. Hell, for some chicks too.

We'll never know will we. You did not try.

Nah...we have fights...gangs even use illegal firearms. I know of no-one who sings hippie songs but plenty who are happy to have a drink instead of an argument.

Well, that demonstrates you are not completely without redeeming features. :)

When visiting my Grandma in Tamaqua Pennsylvania, I used to enjoy walking the coal banks looking for fossils. I found many perfect fern fossils in coal.

Semantics. You are preparing to deal with what you fear.

    Thank you.

And to continue the line of thinking in the OP...
if Australia has a military, I guess that means Australians live in fear?
if Australia has police, I guess that means that Australians live in fear?

One thing my extensive collection lacks, any plant material. The Peace river is world famous for Pleistocene era, fossils. If I'm going fossiling, I'll need my sifting tool, beer and my gun. Find a good mud bank for a backstop so your bullets dont go on private land perfectly legal. It would be unusual to find anyone on the river, miles from public access, without a gun on the boat or in their pack. Never gone to a shooting range, just not for me.

So you say. But that bloke on the Clapham Omnibus would disagree with you.

I have no desire to make friends with a drug dealer just released from prison, making death threats against me and my wife. That would be silly, in the extreme.

A violent drug dealer and the type they run with? I'll pass. We moved shortly after he was evicted, a sweet place opened up. After settling in, i went dont to the river and commenced hostilities against an empty beer. Cap n ball revolvers cant easily be unloaded without firing.

Like I said. You have obvious redeeming features demonstrated again by use an empty beer can. :)

Shooting full cans would be a travesty. I do put water in them, makes for a better reactive target, can pretty much explodes. Even my pellet gun rips one wide open. I can shoot that in the back yard, with a stout piece of wood as a backstop. It will go thru 5 cans of water @ 100ft
A bit stronger than the ones we had as kids.

So you speak for Cody Orlando, David Leyonhjelm, Ryan Kropp, and thousands of Australians who disagree with you?

Or are they part of the estimated 115,924 or so Australians over your 25 million figure?

You really think all Australians think like you?

Well, when your position is distilled down, you either fear firearms or you fear you may become the aggressor if a gun is present.
