I am a Hunter and Massachusetts has so much game we are trying to encourage hunters from other states to come in and buy their permits to handle our way too many deer problem!!

I live in a beautiful rural area and I wake up in the morning go out on my 3rd floor deck as my home is large and I will see anywhere from 3 to 8 deer and maybe a few bear and we have Mountain Lions as well.

I love bagging my share of Pheasant and Partridge and Wild Turkey but there is NOTHING like a nice Venison Steak 3 inches thick in the grill!!

I don't think you are going to beat my buddy Butch Johnson who is up in CT. but if you shoot tournaments to have fun then you do win everytime.

You know I would LOVE to enter a Tournament but I am in Hawaii right now as my laptop is being rerouted by MOTHMAN my Tech. Officer back home to my setup as they don't like it when I talk too much.

Anyways I would LOVE to enter a Tournament and I really am that good!!

But unfortunately because what I do it is just not allowed.

You might find this funny but at one time I was a Boy Scout....made Eagle Scout actually and I fell in LOVE with archery at Moses Scout Reservation in the Berkshire Mountains in Western Mass.

I got so good I was soon running the range then the rifle range then the Survival School...etc...etc...etc.

I once shot....and I am ASHAMED of this as I NEVER KILL THINGS I DO NOT EAT.....I once shot and killed a Wasp with a Crossman 10 pump BB Gun that was holding on upside down to it's hive from 100 feet.

Don't have a clue. They were virtually his first words and had never, to my knowledge seen him previously. Maybe my Irish accent, maybe I wasn't pretty enough... who knows? It was in a pub... maybe....

OK....just so I can understand you were in a Pub....where?

Was there anything going on outside or inside?

And be careful with the throat punch as I don't know how big or strong you are but I am 6 foot 2 inches and 250 lbs of solid muscle and if I throat punch anyone I could easily kill them.

But if you feel your life is at stake then do whatever you need to do!!

It was in Milwaukee in the mid 80's near where I owned a pub on Water St. I and a friend had just walked in and ordered a drink at the bar. Nothing going on that I saw, but no clue if anything transpired before we walked in. No more than 2-3 minutes likely passed before he made his declaration. I have 40+ years of martial arts in more than one style, prob 30 years at that point. I am not a big fellow and given the confined space, the obstacle of a couple interviewing bar stools, the immediacy of the threat, and this fellow's size, at least what I remember, it was the most expedient way of meeting the threat other than grassing him with a beer mug. It was very quick... I am pretty good at deescalating confrontations and have defused many situations in the pub business, but honestly can't remember how good I was at it at the time. And I am sure having a couple beers before hand reduced my immediate access to my quiver of tools in the compressed timeframe. 6'2", eh? If it was you.., sorry for that... though I think he might have been bigger or maybe that's how it seems now. It took four in blue to get him packed away for transport. I am pretty sure had he landed the first punch, the outcome could have gone not well for me.
In retrospect, I would have liked to have known why, why me?

I am an expert in combat as well as CQC Combat or Close Quarters Combat.

I also am an expert in a number of martial arts as well my sparing partner is UFC Champion Gabriel Gonzaga as we lived near each other in Western Mass. and he was working out at a place called Team Link.

I came in for a check promised for a charity I run and the guys at Team Link KNOW who and what I am so they said why don't you get on the mats and first one down donates $200 for the charity in the winners name.

I took Gabby....and I am the ONLY living person who can call him that nickname.....I took down UFC Champion Gabriel Gonzaga in less than 10 seconds.

After that we became good friends and as we are about the same size and weight we both got good workouts on the mats.

I miss him as I have not seen him for a while.

I met and trained with Wally Jay a few years before God retired him. In the mid 60's I still train in a blend of styles, but even now things I learned on the streets of Belfast in the 60's and 70's I still think are effective. One thing I learned there was the value of Will over technique.

One of my favorite quotes on it was from John Wayne in the Shootist...
    Made perfect sense to me.

    OH MAN NORTHERN IRELAND!!

You will not believe what I did!!!

If you have been there back then then you KNOW you can be in a Sinn Féin Pub on one side of the street and the right across the street will be a LOYALIST Pub.

I was there to do a JOB with my Team.

It is near impossible for me to get drunk as my metabolism runs about 4 or 5 times faster than average but the bunch of PADDIES in the bar started picking on me telling me no American could drink Irish Whiskey and survive!!

I put them ALL under the bar and I was WASTED!!!

Then I walked out the door and YELLED over to the group of Loyalists standing or rather GUARDING their Pub across the street..."HEY!! THE QUEEN LOOKS LIKE MY GREAT UNCLE MAYBE SHE IS A MAN!!!??"

    Oh man.

    I started a F#$KING RIOT!!!

I got out of it fine but I am not too proud of it but it's sort of funny now!

An adrenaline rush will give tremendous strength to someone. Anger and rage are sources of adrenaline.

    This results in excess strength.

But technique and speed can always overcome excess strength.

Yeah but not excessive strength way above average speed and endurance and TRAINING!!!

You could put a 7 foot 500 lbs guy against me but I will have him on his knees in less than 5 seconds.

Lucky to survive. I have only found one American that could stand whiskey with me...she's all of 100lbs and 5'. I did take friend over my local friends enjoyed plying him, the Yank, until he went from ok to literally blind drunk, resulting in 3 days of hell for him.... funny... he's a flaming liberal, one off the few with honor.

Do you remember the opposing pubs? Not too many places where that would occur unless in Belfast on Lisbon, close to Queen's. You can be tossed from a pub ordering the wrong whiskey, a Black and Tan, car bomb. Usually a loyalist place will have Red, White and Blue colors prominate and the Republican pubs the Tri colour and 1916 references.

It's true that unless your trained a shorter guy can be a problem if they can get inside.

But as I said I am an expert in such things.

I am actually headed out soon to do another JOB but I am older so now I will be working out of an FOB or Forward Operating Base.

Fact is a person would have to have a death wish to tangle with the likes of us.

Like the old gunfighters, there is always someone better...I have no illusions, but I figure my experience provides some edge...until...

In fighting, I like creating an image of weakness in many situations...the profile of a snake or stonefish... and I don't believe in being fair.

Silly comparison. Excersizing your right to defend your life against an agreesor is significantly different than adhering to traffic rules for a privelege.
Rhetorical question; does VG's apples taste like oranges?

Except no one is good enough to just shoot you in the leg. Plus you can still bleed out with a leg wound.

    See,
Here lies the confusion many people that talk like Ron,
What we have here is failure to communicate.........etc.....

Ron and so many others are confusing
    Structure with Liberty & Freedom.

Traffic regulations and Signals and Stop Signs and Alternate parking regulations to faciltate street cleaning, speed limits are all examples of structure to facilitate life among people and motor vehicles, to mandate Insurance, Driver's licenses etc...

This is not the same as Freedom & Liberty issues related to the Second Amendment,
Any licensing or regulations or registration, the NFA, GCA, BATFE, 1986 FOPA, etc are
Infringements on the Right to keep and bear Arms.

That is all based on the view that it is not morally acceptable to kill another person. Sometimes it is morally acceptable to kill another person--namely in defense of self and others. Shooting someone in the leg will either not be effective at stopping them, will result in quick death (if the femoral artery is severed), or can result in a lifetime crippling condition. It's not a real good choice.
