So they have a tape. The tape tells them one thing. The go talk to witnesses and see what they say. If it matches the tape they know the witness isn't lying. In the Michael Brown case. A tape were out their early. Witness statements were for the most part inline with the tapes. But not all of them jived with the crime scene evidence that was not on the tape. So they used that to determine who was lying and who was not. People make stuff up. You need a control. As in a scientific control. This is forensics a science. The video is the control.

He has no jurisdiction to do so, they are in the hands of the state investigators and are part of the ongoing investigation into the incident. The family and the family attorney have viewed them and they are "inclusive".

Because they on their own are inclusive according to the family and their attorney who have backed away from their book claim. They are evidence in a state investigation, an ongoing investigation. State investigators don't release evidence piecemeal in an ongoing investigation.

They tapes being inclusive as the family and their attorney state would only fuel the fire as those who want the police charged here would see what they want to see and the riots would continue. If the tapes are damaging to the officers and it was a bad shoot then once the state investigators have concluded that they can release the tapes AND STATE they are charging the police and thus hopefully there would be no riots. If the entirety of the evidence shows it was a good shoot then they can present that entirety of the evidence and show that while the tapes are inconclusive that entirety of the evidence shows it was a lawful shoot as the police had a reasonable fear of serious injury or death. Hopefully people will behave civilly no matter the outcome.

If is was clear the matter would be over with now once more where are the other videos???????

Second there is a picture with crime tape up showing what look like a gun on the ground that was not in the wife video before the crime tape for some reason.

The whole thing is a mess and for the hundred time where are those videos so if this was a good shooting the matter would be over with and put to rest.

footnote innocent people had been shot before one guy in NYC 20 times or so due to the cops thinking a wallet in his hand was a gun.

I am white but I am still wondering if I might be killed on day for having a black nook reader in my hands.

Second comment if some police officer shouted at me to drop the gun while I was carrying only the nook I might be confused for enough seconds to get myself killed.

Maybe the video isn't clear. I'm my memory these cops shootings are like UFO videos. Shaky and Blurry. That guy who got shot in front of the Store was the worst I can remember, and we didn't even see the actual shooting.

Notice how the article refers to the suspect as "the victim"? The lefty media can't help itself can it.

All the police need to do is to released the tapes and if it show a good shooting the matter would be over with and if it was not clear at least the idea that the police and city is doing a cover up would go away to a great degree.

To sum up the longer those tapes are being hidden from the public the less trust there will be of any police statements now and in the future.

I don't think you understand how evidence works. Take the a letter a serial killer sends to the cops. Would they release it, no, because if a guy confesses they can tell whether or not he's really the guy by having him verify what's in the letter. If they release the letter anyone can come along and claim they are the zodiac killer. The tape is the same kind of thing.

The man who the police is claiming is the criminal is dead so if that is true what harm is it to release tapes to prove that to the public?????

By the statements of the police department there is no case to prosecute and no reason to hold onto the evidence.

Now if the chief of police had come in front of the cameras and stated that a number of police officers are being investigated for possible prosecution for the death then you might have a point.

Like I said, everyone sees the video at that point. Its the investigators job to know whether what the accuser is clamming happened, happened. They need witnesses to come forward and verify what is on the video. And the need the cops story's to line up with what's on the video. So if the cops are saying one thing and what's on the video is another, they know the cops are lying. If the cops see the video or friends and family see the video the cop can make up excuse for his actions before his testimony can be verified by the video.

An you think that the cops involved had not seen the video?

Once more there had been not a hint that any of the officers are at risk of prosecution and to claim that the videos needed to be hidden due to possible prosecution does not fly.

Footnote the woman cop who had just been charge with manslaughter over her shooting had the videos of her shooting released even before she was charge.

It is not a good idea to release evidence before the investigation is over.

They aren't supposed to, but that get into the part about corruption in the police force. And so far we have more evidence of a gun that that.

They do risk prosecution, its incredibly difficult to prove a cop did this with the sole intent to kill. The prosecution is bound with a higher level of burden of proof then when you or I do this. Its much more difficult to convict a cop of murder or manslaughter without an incredibly higher degree of evidence.

Of course not as it is far better to have a major city shut down until the investigation is over with and a large percent of that city population with no trust of the police or the legal system.

Viewing them not as peacekeepers but arm hoodlums with the right to kill citizens with special note of black citizens.

Release the tapes and hopefully it will show the man with a gun not a book in his hand.

You can bet if the guy had shot a cop the video would have been released in two seconds. They're busy making a new video to support their story.

You have a point as any number of times videos was released at once with zero delays.

Off hand I do not remember any delay in showing videos of others then those that involved possible wrong doing of police officers.

And if he has the book would you not want the cop convicted? Would that stop the violence?

So you are claiming that showing tapes that clearly show the shooting was not justify would prevent the officers from being convicted?

So the female cop is going to get off due to her shooting being shown at once and not hidden from the citizens?

A while ago Trump said that "I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn't lose voters." I'll bet that some cops are taking that as a challenge and seeing if they can match Trump. If they get away with it we'll see if Trump follows through with his statement.

Interesting as that had never been reported in any of the newscasts so please link to such information.

It gives them time to alter the videos. In the meantime a common perp would be splattered all over the news with his entire life history posted. The system is rigged and run by crooks.

I am saying that if that guy does have a book on his lap and they release the tape. The cops can make up some story that jives with what's seen on the tape to prove why he was afraid. Remember a cop does not have to have a real verifiable fear, a weapon does not need to be preset. He just has to say he genuinely feared for his life.

If you or I try to play self defense, all the prosecution needs to prove is that the fear was perceived and not actual. If the fear was in our heads, like if the guy really wasn't armed, we are going to jail.

The female cop will most likely get off. She had a perceived fear. That's all that is need for her defense, you don't have to believe her. If the prosecution wants to make a case they need to prove she pulled that trigger, with the sole intent to kill him not because she fear for her life. That's a hard thing to prove.

So that's why I say let them have the tape. Give them the time to try and prove it convicting a cop of murder is a very hard thing to do.

The system gave the cops power to kill too easily. That's all that needs to be changed. Its bound to happen. They have a huge safety net if they screw up. The burden of proof is on the state, and its a huge burden when all the cop need to do is perceive fear for an acquittal.
