As if we don't have enough problems! And especially with the bee colony collapse issue. Hope they get a handle on this:
Apparently foreign genes got inserted into the local hornet genepool. Ecologists and Environmental Conservationists refer to this type of phenomena as "genetic pollution". related thread: Partially Africanized bees found in East Tennessee
No The Japanese giant hornet has got into the NW of USA and will take over Wash, Idaho and Oregon I suggest you start packing before they find you
These flying beasts are massive They have huge stingers and can shoot venom which will blind you I suggest you alert anyone if you see one They have huge cartoonish faces that are orange with black tear drops
I wonder if that's what I had a number of years ago. They lived in a tree where we parked the vehicles. They looked more like a yellow jacket, but 2 or 3 times the size. They were not at all aggressive and rarely left that tree. Then one year they were everywhere up and down the crick, the next year they were gone and I haven't seen one since. That was more than 12 years ago.
Good lord people are really going nuts about this. Repeat after me: I AM A HUMAN. I CAN DEFEAT A 2 INCH LONG INSECT! Just keep saying it. I promise its true. We do need to protect the honeybees though. Fortunately its pretty easy to build a narrow openning into a beehive that still lets the bees through but not the much larger hornet.
