We were getting to a place where the attorney general and I were both going to have to testify and talk publicly about. And why is this entire thing even a concern overall? The FBI investigated, well duh, isn't that what they DO?.

The overall implication, that anyone daring to even investigate someone had better look out if that person later becomes powerful is VERY chilling and dangerous, much more so than any investigation itself. But since the people doing it are the same ones who have been pushing the old dictator's tactic of "locking up" their political rivals I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

I suspect it Lynch. Comey was very specific in his under oath testimony and he's too smart to hang himself out to dry with a very specific like.
