A little girl stands up to the Taliban, speaking out for womens education and is shot in the head. I burned with anger... at the Taliban for still being (*)(*)(*)(*)s, at my government for supporting them, and at this girls parents... for putting her in the spotlight, and in such terrible danger. I watched her recovery and wondered what country she would now flee to... because that is what I would do. You shoot me in the head, I get the message. If I live, I will probably STHU... but if I were to open my mouth, it would not be in one of "those" countries. I heard she was going back, and was still making political statements. And then I saw her at the UN, and all my anger faded, and I realized that the parent's I held such rage for were not using their child as a political prop. They just were not willing, or morally capable of standing in her way. She is now the youngest nominee in history for the Nobel Peace Prize... which has sullied it's own reputation by handing them out to leftist US politicians... Obama being their most ignorant example. Of course, nomination is not in their purview. Bradly Manning is also up for it. So bring it on... haters gonna hate... and I intend on word raping them. http://www.ndtv.com/article/world/malala-yousafzai-nominated-for-nobel-peace-prize-325193 I am Team Malala.
I can't begin to express my admiration for this young lady, standing by her convictions in face of such violence and hatred. Coward #2
Way to cheapen the issue by trying to piggyback your self serving post to it. Additionally, it's pointless (as already pointed out) as her care would have been just as skillfully handled, if not more so, and just as free as a humanitarian gesture http://transition.usaid.gov/our_work/humanitarian_assistance/.
It's their culture for keeping their women submissive and uneducated, and their culture should be respected. They should be able to set their own laws on their own sovereign lands. I am proud of my Government for supporting this principle, without endorsing that behavior towards women here in America.
Movie comes out Nov. 6th... Malala Yousafzai's story, now on celluloid Oct 15, 2015 - Malala Yousafzai's maturity and messianic zeal have wowed the world. But she's also just a teenager. An upcoming documentary film on the gritty Pakistani teenager who took on the Taliban in Swat valley captures this dichotomy brilliantly. 'He Named Me Malala', premiering worldwide on November 6, is directed by Davis Guggenheim. He had won the Oscar for 'An Inconvenient Truth about Al Gore'.
The law says she can go to school. This has nothing to do with national sovereignty, just a bunch of woman hating gangsters hijacking a school bust and shooting kids.
Everyone should work to provide that every child in any society should have full education. It is one of the deepest stains of right wing Muslim religions is the practice of denying school to women.
Malala advocating for education of Syrian children... Malala warns of Syria's education gap Thu, 28 Jan 2016 - Campaigner Malala Yousufzai calls for more to be done to educate millions of refugee Syrian children denied access to school.
I completely agree with the OP. If Obama got a peace prize before he had even been president for very long, they ought to give Malala 10 of them. I loved seeing her appear on Jon Stewart's Daily Show. He had her back more than once and you could tell he was quite a big fan of her courage and persistence. She's one of the only candidates I've seen who doesn't have multiple agendas, some of which still include war. If you're a warrior(and I mean no disrespect to our men and women in uniform for that is their job and an important one), you probably shouldn't be getting a peace prize unless you've done things that actually promoted peace.
