http://www.abcnews4.com/story/15213436/man-battles-breast-cancer How sickening is this. A hard working, tax paying, American Citizen does everything right and still gets (*)(*)(*)(*)ed by the system.
Just think, If he were an Australian, he would be receiving his treatment, free of charge, and it wouldn't matter if he was a man. He would be treated for his illness regardless. Thanks to the crappy system in the US, this man might well recover from his illness, and be forced to slave away for the rest of his life, trying to pay off the bill.
A state program run by the government and he was denied. Welcome to rationing. Just wait until Ubamacare fully kicks in, you'll see more rationing. Raymond is black so those who denied him in government are nothing but a bunch of racists!!!!!!!!!!!
Medicare health care in partly funded by 1.5% of an income tax levy with an additional levy of 1% for high-income earners. So, clearly health care is not free there.
Could stress play a role in the development of breast cancer?... Stress and aggressive breast cancer go together, study finds September 19, 2011, Breast cancer patients with more stress in their lives were more likely to have aggressive tumors, researchers found. But they don't know whether stress made the tumors worse, or if the aggressive tumors caused more stress.
Hope for breast cancer patients... New Breast Cancer Treatment Shows Great Promise December 16, 2011 - In clinical trials at Johns Hopkins Cancer Center in Baltimore, Maryland, doctors report they successfully pumped cancer-fighting medicine directly into a breast tumor.
didnt know this could happen to men, just found a small lump on my left breast. these laws need to change so the government can pay for men too, if this checks out to be cancer ill withdraw all my money from my accounts keep it in cash under the bed and declare bankruptcy to pay for radiation treatments.
Don't presume you can get treatments even if you have no money. You will have to get rid of ALL your belongings down to about $3000 (that included your car), clothes, furniture, possessions of all kinds, but ins most states, not all, you can keep your house. Medicaid is not available to everyone, ESPECIALLY not until you are 100% disabled. So your cancer will need to progress and metastasis enough to make you TOTALLY unable to work, and then you need to apply, get approved and all that stuff, so figure up 6 months AFTER you can NO longer work AT ALL at anything. And Medicaid does not pay for everything. In my case, it would not pay for a needed pacemaker even if I could have gotten Medicare. So if Obamacare is repealed and the current medical system keeps going in the USA, AND Congress decides to ADD costs (very unlikely) to the medial system by providing care for male breast cancer, you may get treatment reliably without discovering how much of a myth all the stories we hear from the Right on how easy it is to get medical care in the USA. But don't hold your breath. If the reason you are without insurance is any kind of pre-existing condition, sign up for the Obamacare Pre-existing Condition Insurance Plan NOW (PCIP) at Healthcare.gov, and get checked out.
Anyone who works for labor (but not the wealthy coupon clippers) pays social security and medicare taxes from the FIRST DOLLAR of their paycheck. Its called FICA. Look it up, it would be a good time to learn about REALITY.
Men get breast cancer too... Kenyan Men With Breast Cancer Fight Disease, Stigma October 01, 2015 For a long time, Kenyan men fighting breast cancer have hidden their condition, embarrassed they are fighting a disease associated with women. Now, some doctors and patients are coming out and talking about the disease, in hopes of reducing the stigma.
Actually, the Susan B Komen foundation has programs available. Breast cancer is rare, about 1.3 per 100000 for men compared to 124.3 per 100000 in woman. So, I would say that the state employee who denied the Medicaid form did so based more on ignorance than the law. Under Title 42, he is entitled to the treatment since breast cancer applies to both men and women.
USA ranks 11th out of 11 countries in health care comparison. Furthermore USA is nearly 3 times the cost per capita than the lowest cost country and access to health care is worse than lower cost countries. I remember a case a few years ago where a hospital tried to charge a guy $200 after that guy walked out of the hospital after waiting three hours without having received attention. The US health system is defective and designed for the benefit of hospital management and shareholders and not the patient. http://www.forbes.com/sites/danmunr...ked-dead-last-compared-to-10-other-countries/
Most hospitals in the U.S. are non profits either run by the state or its subdivisions, private institution, other non profit organization, non profit educational systems, or religious institution. There are very few for profit hospitals in the U.S. Our health care system is inefficient. We have the highest out of pocket expenses than any OECD country, but at the same time, have the star trek diagnostics system that most countries envy for. The costs are not at the hospitals doorstep or the fault of the hospital, it is at the research companies for the drugs and other techniques.
There are over 1,000 for profit hospitals which represents roughly 20% of total hospitals. "Very few" is misleading when its 1 in 5
Yeah according to the statistics by the American Hospital Association. But most of those are community hosptials which means that they have limited resources. But if you limit the hosptial being traditional hosptials and not "community hosptials" then my statement holds true.
A hospital is a hospital. By your criteria, there are only a couple hundred "hospitals" in the whole country instead of over 5k as any facility not a Level One Trauma Center would have comparatively limited resources.
Ahh this is the crappy GOVERNMENT health care system. If he had private insurance he'd be receiving his cancer treatment. A good reason to get rid of Obamacare.
http://www.smh.com.au/national/health/black-dog-institute-suicide-attempt-study-finds-that-patients-get-no-followup-20150902-gjdgeb.html the same healthcare system that puts a guard outside a suicide patients room, gives her sleeping pills, then dumps her off at a youth hostel and tells her if she tries to kill herself again, she will be kicked out of the hostel? you mean this kind of healthcare? so much better! she called for help and thats how she was helped? that kinda healthcare? we call that the VA in america... drug people up then scold them... sounds pretty american actually... P.S. I'm not trying to turn this into a "ours is better than yours" pissing match... just showing that the shining examples of utopia, have faults... and are far from perfect or better when things like this happen even when people seek out help, and this is the kind of help they get from that system... thats not better care...
while this is absolutely a tragic, heartbreaking story that highlights much of what's wrong with health-care..... why is noone addressing, had this man purchased insurance, this wouldn't be an issue of him not getting treatment. He's made a conscience decision to, instead of buying health insurance, use that money for something else. How's that TV he bought last year, helping him beat his cancer? Does that iPhone 6 have a chemotherapy app on it? I have to make economic choices with my money when it comes to buying healthcare, vs buying something fun with that money. I had the same choices at 26, just like this guy did. I chose health care. I prepared for the worst case scenario, and hoped and prayed it didn't happen. Luckily, it hasn't happened.... yet.... He didn't prepare for the worst case scenario and unfortunately, it happened, and now, instead of telling other 21 yo's out there.... "here is the reason you need health insurance, even though you are young", we use it as a way to condemn a health care system that would have worked had he chosen to participate in it?
