I wish I knew. I do know I've seen much better writing and direction employed in video games and their cinematics than in most movies these days.

Good lord all you ever get to see of the oldies are the good ones. Hollywood hasn't changed since they started doing movies. For every On the water front there is a BOOM! For Every Graduate a "Last days of Pompeii."

Next get rid of the idea that movies can exactly replicate books no matter what. And get used to CGI. Graphic artists work cheaper than actors or at least a thousand actors and are a lot less dangerous than stuntmen and the insurance is lower.

The problem with movies today is that most of them are sticking to tried and true formulas, because movies are expensive. That's why most new movies are either remakes or sequels or reboots. Coupled with the fact that the American attention span is used to entertainemtn in hour long chunks like TV, and you have bland plots with easily followable storylines so as not to confuse the ADD population who will just whip out their smartphone and play Angry Birds if the movie sucks, and then download it instead of buying it when it comes out on DvD.

Full Disclosure. I downloading movies. But, I don't play Angry Birds.

Jack: "There's no falls in LA!"

Yeah, entertainment is where you find it. There is a hundred years of films out there - Don't like the current stuff, hook into the oldies, and then there is the vast foreign film industry, and there some true gems out there.

Just wanted to pop in here and say that Man Of Steel was the best movie I've seen in quite some time.

I'm 100% serious. I absolutely loved it. That's what a Superman movie should be and the movie company who made it can expect a steady stream of income from me if they keep making them at that caliber.

It made every other comic book and action film look and feel like a backyard home movie.

I saw Man of Steel but I never thought it would have some kind of great dramatic plot, after all, it's Superman! Who doesn't know the plot? I enjoyed the special effects and the 3D. Go see it, buy some popcorn and put on the glasses, don't expect some kind of epic flick.

I'm gonna go see Pacific Rim too.

    Exactly.

It wasn't supposed to be The English Patient or Schindler's List.

It's Superman, and for a comic book action movie, I thought the plot was pretty good when you consider the plot quality in a lot of those movies.

Also Pacific Rim looks amazing as well. Watched about 5 seconds of the preview before I decided I was definitely going to see it and shut my eyes so I didn't spoil the movie.

I liked Man of Steel all right. In terms of Epic Blockbusters, it wasn't Star Trek Into Darkness or The Avengers. It was probably on a tier below that. One of the things that hurt it is that there were no light moments, and no one cracking wise to relieve the tension, That's part of what makes these kind of movies fun, and this was played fairly serious. It needed more humor. Maybe in Man of Steel II: This Time It's Personal.

Well its not like they are writing an original movie. They have to stay in the superman universe and its been tapped out for years.

I think the next will have to do with a superman clone. They took his blood and it was in the ship. They made it a point to show them taking the blood. I would bet Lex finds the blood and there the mayhem begins.

No, next time will be a little known (at least to non comic fans) villain called Parasite. And Lex Luthor will be introduced.
