We arent the United State of America...its States. 50 of them. We have 50 separate elections that culminate on the same day. You dont tally the popular votes together you tally which way the state voted. This last election was a textbook example of why its the correct system. And of course you are aware that only 27 states have laws that demand the winner of the popular vote gets all the electoral votes. There is not constitutional or federal law about it. So in fact, a states electoral college could vote for the candidate that got fewer votes.

hahahha it doesnt einstein. Its weighted equally against the population. You get one electoral for each rep and your two senators. Its based on population by census every 10 years. This prevents idiots from flooding states like california with illegals and letting them vote in a popular vote. You can allow them to vote but cali still gets the same # of votes. As we are seeing on perfect display...cali has to suffer the consequences of a state flooded with illegals long before they will ever change a presidential outcome. Sorry, if you want more popular votes cali will need to keep flooding the states for years before affecting the outcome. This is by design and a perfect illustration of why the electoral is a better system.
