    There has been a pissy faction that have been bellywhinging about their imaginary foreign-born, madrasa-indoctrinated president since Obama was first elected with over 51% of the popular vote. As he completes his second term with Americans assigning him impressive approval numbers in all polls, it is only right that he provides those alienated from America with one last thing for them to snivel about.

    And in his typical humble style (/s), Obama tells everyone he would have beaten Trump. So a poll is taken on that subject. Result? Not so fast soon to be ex-President.

    http://dailycaller.com/2017/01/04/trump-destroys-obama-in-head-to-head-poll/

    I don't know why the headline used the word destroys but that doesn't change the deliciousness of the poll result.

    That garbage should have never been covered with a dime of taxpayer money in the first place!

    That squirrely little punk would have been hanged for his treason a generation ago.

    I'll buy the rope.

    Obama's reason is BS. He did it for one reason only, the LGBT people paid him. Their money is flowing through the Democratic machine like wine.

    That is an assertion that you might be able to credibly make , if . you can show that in fact the sentencing of Manning was not historically disproportionate to sentencing in cases with similar sets of facts. No one in this thread has bothered to check. That is because you do not care whether the 35 years is comparable. That question does not fit into your favorite themes or your agenda.

    In fact, the sentencing should've been greater than similar cases. Usually, as certain crimes become more rampant and/or more severe, the criminal justice system responds with tougher laws and sentencing. In the current climate, with stealing someone's emails being allegedly responsible for changing the outcome of a presidential election; we're letting a wannabe hacker off the hook? It makes no sense.

    I'll wait for you to provide an example of a recent similar case.

    In other words, you have no idea whether this 35 years was or was not in line with other sentences given under similar circumstances and you don't care enough to find out. Maybe 8 years was closer to the norm than 35. Your charge of 'BS' is bogus partisan crap.

    "...the largest breach of U.S. classified material in the nation’s history."

    Keep it in mind when you hear the sorry excuse about precedent and fair sentencing. What was the previous largest breach ever?

    Convicted Cold War spy John Walker dies in prison - CNN.com
    http://www.cnn.com/2014/08/29/justice/cold-war-spy-dies/index.html
    Aug 29, 2014(*)· John Walker Jr., a former U.S. Navy officer convicted of spying decades ago for the Soviet Union, has died in federal prison
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~
    It seems that the above two like Bradley Manning deserve the convictions the received. To commute Bradley's sentence is to say it's okay to spy and give away National Security secrets for any reason get away with it.
    Robert Hanssen
    Robert Philip Hanssen is a former U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation agent who spied for Soviet and Russian intelligence services against the United States for twenty-two years from 1979 to 2001. He is currently serving 15 consecutive life sentences at ADX Florence, a federal supermax prison near Florence, Colorado.
    The death penalty or life sentence without the possibility of parole may have been appropriate. He threw our national security into chaos, and he caused many deaths in Afghanistan because the Taliban went on a rampage due to Manning's disclosures.
    You raised the issue of precedence. You do the research. Personally, I don't think it matters much. They should have hung the bastard.
    Bravo! Well, that answers that question. Nice work.
    I read this same story on the network news.
    Sandy, you need to get the links
    Post said links
    Then best to use the quote function to button it up.
    If it is your question as to Assange, he is a citizen of Australia, whom I don't think has been a resident of the USA, and has dispensed a lot of information.
    Many of us whom once worked with military documents, as I did at one time, understand you do not want the other guys getting hands on your close held information.
    So to say Manning and Assange damaged our security is no joke. I have not perused all the released documents nor do I plan to, but the enormous bundle no doubt had the potential of raising havoc.
    When I was in the Army, the guys had to constantly be warned not to tell stuff to the local women.
    It was not war time, but even in peace, we did not want to have the russians using the locals as data to keep track of our movements.
    I have a different concept of jail than most posters have. But Manning managed to escape when those who died never will escape.
    Again, maybe to pass judgment we all need to see precisely what Manning did leak. But we have reporters making claims a lot of people got executed due to Manning.
    Manning should have been fully indoctrinated in prison. Take courses to ensure he does not ever work against his own country again. Some call for execution. I won't go that direction.
    Obama by helping Iran may have pulled the trigger that leads to our doom.
    Why is North Korea, a primitive bunch of blowhards coming up with nuclear bombs?
    I understand Iran makes it possible.
    Can posters let us know on this matter?
    Reporters report a lot of people were killed by the Taliban.
    Frankly, more study on this has a number of claims. Some claim none died others that many died. Especially in Afghanistan.
    Afghanistan has been a farce from the beginning, and it still is. Those poor guys would have been killed anyway, and the self-serving top brass are cynically using Manning to cover up their own incompetence.
    Two things wrong with this
    1. The federal court hearing ruled in 2013 that the Afghan war diary leaks did not result in any deaths by enemy forces.
    2. Among the charges Manning faced in the 2013 trial, Manning was acquitted on all charges of aiding the enemy (which was the most serous of the charges she faced), but was found guilty of the remaining charges
    It is also worth noting that the leaks published by Wikileaks exposed many lies and illegal activities within our own government, yet the only individuals to face legal consequences were the whistleblowers who disclosed this information to the public
