The fact is that the Moderate Republican Christi won in a traditionally blue state of New Jersey and a liberal Democrat won in Virginia. What this means is the socially conservative, southern strategy the GOP has been hedging it's bets on for the last 40 years is over.

The Tea Party is not the rebirth of a movement, it's the last throws of one. When an animal is fading away is when it is most vocal and willing to go out with a bang. That's exactly what's happening with the Tea Party. I really look at Virginia going blue as one of the final nails in the coffin of the social far right in this country.

The demographics of this country no longer allows any of they BS southern strategy nonsense to work anymore.

What worked for idiots like Nixon and Reagan cannot work for today's "conservative" politicians.

the conservatives here did not get that memo....they're still partying like it's '59.

then they get that "wild eyed" look when they lose an election.....

Not to interrupt your love for creating threads at about 120MPH, and of course the high-fiving, lefty circle jerk that you seek (and have already started receiving)...
but all it proves is the left's goal is to be more conservative, since 1/3 of their party voted against their own.

I hope they learn a lesson, that they ALMOST got it right.

If they would have stuck solely to fiscal matters it would have been wonderful.

Good news is I feel it's a step closer!

I don't know. Just like the bubonic plague in the 1400s, the right-wing lunatic fringe that infests the south will keep trying to rise up again and poison everything it can in a bid to survive as a species.
Education is the only thing that will eradicate them permanently by innoculating new generations against their virulent, irrational hate.

Shotguns and pickup trucks aren't anything to be all that fearful of though. By them they they fire their critter blasters, and wave their racists Dixie flags, the jig will be up. Southerners are huge fans of "home schooling" too so, education resolving the problem isn't very likely either.

The McAuliffe win proves Obama Care is killing Democrats. They outspent Republicans by $15 million dollars and won by less than 2%. No donors will continue to finance that losing strategy. BTW Republicans gained 2 seats in the Virginia House of Delegates.

Wrong again! Fact is 42% of Americans don't vote because they don't think there is much difference either way. So the Dems should become more LIBERAL putting more distance between themselves and the parasitic Republican party. That would get more people to the polls. The higher the voter turn out the worse conservatives do. The Dems also need to improve their messaging. Republicans learned MUCHO from Goebbels.

Actually... the FACT is 1/3 of the NJ dems voted for the Republican. :(
I forget the large percentage of minorities, but I do know 93% of Republicans did also.

    Now spin that.

I'll say this again as I said in the other thread... that piece of trash McAuliffe was up by damn near 20% in a state that almost half of it's citizens are employed by the government and in a race where McAuliffe outspent his competitor by an UNPRECEDENTED $15M and STILL only won by 3% of the vote.

You keep on thinking conservatism is dead... You're going to be sorely disappointed in the coming election cycle.

Existentially absurd.Given that McAuliffe outspent Cuccinelli `10-1 in TV
ads alone.Given that the GOP barely spent One Million on the tough
Attorney general as opposed to the last Governor, where the GOP kicked-in
    3 times that amount.
Plus the real reason Cuccinelli Lost.McAuliffe arranged for a ringer
or Spoiler candidate to magically appear out of thin air.
    A Former Clinton bundler,a Billionaire,who also contributes to Obama's
    campaigns,managed to raise/contribute $ 150,000 to the Libertarian PAC
in an effort to get enough petition signatures for this unheard of Libertarian
    candidate,who also was No Libertarian.
The democrats fronted a 3rd party candidate to split the Republican vote
as best they could. It's called a spoiler.A Ringer.
Unlike McAuliffe,or the " punk " .A genuine weasel and former bagman for
    Bill Clinton.

I never said it was dead - I would vote for a fiscally conservative and socially liberal republican. I mentioned the old south because I believe social conservatism is fading out.

What has Hillary done besides being a witless political opportunist to warrant being this country's commander in chief? I still haven't gotten this out of my head

Nuclear warheads are meant to be deterrents, they're not waved around, they're not toys. We don't speak of our nuclear capabilities. My personal political position is that our nuclear secrets are neither heard from nor spoken of, not politically, not publically. That's for our generals to know, the final trigger is something I don't want to touch at all costs.

When you possess MAD, you're supposed to be a rational actor. By her own political beliefs of "rational acting", she fails.

That doesn't require any spin. It was summed up perfectly by the artist who drew a donkey to symbolize the independence of the Democrats and the elephant to symbolize the herd mentality of Republicans. As the saying goes, trying to control Democrats is like trying to herd cats.

The GOP apparently found themselves a popular candidate. He may run for election in 2016. If he wins then we'll be right back in economic free-fall where the GOP had us last time. No matter how moderate this candidate may be eventually they all fall in line because Republicans are authoritarians.
