A nice read (written by a Palestinian Christian):

Palestinian Christians do not tolerate life under occupation

The Pope makes me laugh.(or cry)

    As do the Vatican elites.

They live as kings, decadent and gluttoness, while literally millions of RC live in poverty, hunger, etc.

How can any man, whatsoever his claimed faith, possibly be anything but an imposter to the basic teachings of Jesus, living in that way?

I really do not see how the two can reconcile.

The British people, most of whom are not RC, had to pay big bucks to have him here, a year or two ago.

At a time when we say to our own people 'We do not have enough to provide critical services', we can find the public funds to fetter the Pope.

And why does he need such a large security team?

Does he not believe in his own god?

And if it is gods will that he dies, through assasination, then isn't it gods will?

And if it is gods will that he lives through one, that means god is protecting him from death, as he does not want him to die yet.

Therefore, no need for an entourage of security.

So, we pay all that £ to fly him here (on the very dubious claim that it was a state visit, Vatican State), to a nation in which RC are the minority, and what does he do....states that 'atheists are like Nazi's.'.

Somewhat interesting, coming as it does from a German member of Hitler Youth.

    :)

EDIT: Hahahahaha I JUST NOTICED YOU, AS WELL AS THE ARTICLE WAS ADDRESSING THE ENTIRE MIDDLE EAST, not just Palestine!

This is actually incredibly inaccurate. To begin with, about a century ago the Christians only made up about 10% of Palestine’s population, not 20%. Furthermore, throughout this century the Palestinian Christian population did not decease, but in fact increased. During the British Mandate period data on the population of Palestine was collected quarterly and annually. According to this census in 1922 there were 71,464 Christians in Palestine. About a decade later in 1931 there was 88,907 Palestinian Christians. In 1944 there was 135,547 Palestinian Christians in Palestine. As you can see the population grew. After the war in 1948 most of the Palestinian Christians were ethnically cleansed by the Zionist forces. This is actually proven by statistics compiled by the Israel Bureau of Statistics website, which shows in 1949 (after the war) there were 34,000 Palestinian Christians remaining in the area that Israel was established. This means that only after the Zionist ethnic cleansing operations in 1948 that the Palestinian Christian population decreased, since then us Palestinian Christians have suffered the same fate under occupation as any other Palestinian in the occupied territory. We have suffered house demolitions/evictions, Israeli land theft of Palestinian land, etc. As you can see the percentage of Christian Palestinians had been in decline due to the Nakba in 1948, and further expultions and displaced persons in the 1967 war have also contributed to the decrease of Palestinian Christians. Many of the refugees in 1948 were displaced, or left, many of the hundreds of Palestinian villages that were depopulated and destroyed by the Zionist forces had a mix of Christian and Muslims living there.

Yet the Palestinian Christian population has completely rejected what Michael Oren said which is very similar to what the pope’s article said.

The inhabitants who face the reality everyday know the situation much better. And according to them it is certainly the Israeli occupation.

EDIT AGAIN: Just making sure you realize that I misinterpreted your post thinking it was only addressing Palestine, and not the entire Middle East.

Fair enough :) The point I've been making in this thread is that the trend of the dwindling Christian population in 'Palestine' in not any different from the rest of the Arab/Muslim world which proves that the Christian exodus has nothing to do with Israel. Especially given the fact that the Christian population of Israel (including Arab Christians) is growing.

Although I certainly did prove that the Christian population of Palestine increased prior to the ethnic cleansing operations during the Nakba.

Its without doubt , that before the creation of the Zionists entity called "Israel" - and America's unquestioning support for it , there was no exodus of either Jews or Christians from any Arab country - bar Saudi Arabia where's theres NOT been any Jews or Christians since the first Christian Crusade.

Every action has a reaction. Toodle-looo.

the opposite belief, correlation proves causation, is a
logical fallacy by which two events that occur together are claimed to have a cause-and-effect relationship. The fallacy is also known as cum hoc ergo propter hoc (Latin for "with this, therefore because of this") and false cause. It is a common fallacy in which it is assumed that because two things or events occur together, one must be the cause of the other.

It's quite obvious to any intelligent individual that the overwhelming majority of the arab/muslim states have neither common border, nor territorial nor any other disputes with Israel and the Christian exodus from those countries is caused by islamization, violence, persecutions, economic issues, most definitely not by Israel and/or the US. But then Islamofascists even blame shark attacks off Egyptian coast on Israel and/or the US so your opinion is not particularly surprising.
