Migrant Caravans Head to U.S. Border in Early Test for Biden

Obama had a catch and release policy. He caught them, put them in cages for processing, then once they were processed they were released into the United States to await their asylum trial. The median grant of asylum across the country is 11%. Which means the vast majority are sent back to their country of origin (at least for the ones that showed up for their court date). However the wait to get an asylum trial takes roughly 7 years. In that time they are allowed to do whatever they want in the US. That means getting jobs, buying homes, having kids which are then considered legal citizens of the US which complicates the asylum process even more. Including the possibility of separating the parents from the kids if their asylum request is not granted. And it is quite common for those that do get deported to come back into the US illegally. Which then brings up the next point about Obama's stance on illegal immigration. He only went after those that were considered threats, violent felons. All the others he left alone. He even instituted DACA and DAPA. DAPA was ruled unconstitutional and I have no doubt that if DACA had made it to SCOTUS it would have been ruled as such also. Both were written contrary to actual law as implemented by Congress.

 

Don't move the goal post. Deal with the topic at hand. If they're truly sealing Asylum, why do they continue to the border?

Again, if they're really sealing asylum, why do they go on that jounry alllll the way to the US boder? And not stop in Mexico? They dont' have to ask the US goverment in Mexco for Asylum.

So you're not getting it. If they're really need and seaking asylum. They woudn't go all the way north to the US border. They would stop in Mexico and get away from whatever it is they're seaking asylum for. Its a backdoor way to get all the way to the border.

So you are not getting that. In order to seek asylum, you need to seek asylum in another country. Not just the first country you come across. Are you really going to pretend that you are too daft to understand that?
