I just squashed your narrative and then you go on to ridicule me.

Typical of a lefty getting pwned.

    LMFAO!

Obama only got 45% of the military vote in 2008.

Trump got a whopping 61% of the military vote in 2016.

That's the only poll that matters.

    You were saying?

You are free to dance a dance and declare whatever victory you claim you've made, sir.

Yea, but he did pretty squash your narrative, so I guess he can claim victory and of course, the moral high ground.

...and the Left Wingers hate them too!

The shift in the officer corps is interesting. That doesn't mean they like Hillary. It just means they, IMO, dislike anyone who lies to Americans and violates their oath of office. Duty, Honor, Country. Notice that they highly disapproved of both Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.

Disagreed. What narrative are you claiming he squashed? What narrative are you claiming I've made? Quotes, where possible, please.

Apologies to those whining about "this is over a year old!!!!" or distrust polls as being part of the great LW Globalist conspiracy, but I think it's still relevant. From May 2017:

    http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2017/05/26/u-s-veterans-are-generally-supportive-of-trump/
U.S. veterans, who broadly supported Donald Trump in the 2016 election, have remained positive about the job he is doing as president. In April, 54% of those who have served in the military approved of his job performance. Trump’s job approval among the overall public was just 39%, according to the same survey, which was conducted using Pew Research Center’s American Trends Panel....

If you dont believe the military changes over time, and those changes are driven from the white house, then your simply deluded.

Put down the bong, and slowly back away from the keyboard.

Thanks for proving my point...and that you are not a Marine, just a Terminal Lance ex-Marine.

I, OTOH, am retired Navy but still a Marine. Have a nice day, civilian.

I'm one who voted for Johnson, although my vote was more against both Trump and Clinton than for Johnson. Those polls with Johnson getting such a large percentage is hard to fathom as they seem to come in Sep 2016. I do know from attending my VFW and American Legion meetings for two month after Trump dissed our POW's as being bad soldier because they got caught, his statement was about all that was talked about just prior and after the meetings. I think trump would have been hard pressed to get 10% of the military's or veterans vote way back then. But that changed rather quickly when it became apparent the democrats would nominate Hillary Clinton. That caused the quick change in sentiment from anti-Trump to pro-trump or probably more accurate to very anti-Hillary Clinton. Trump's statement was forgotten.

According to CNN's exit polls, Trump won the vote of those who served in the military 60-34 over Hillary with 6% voting third party, i.e. Johnson.

    https://www.cnn.com/election/2016/results/exit-polls

Hillary won those who never served 50-44 over trump.

Here's an article from 2014 that might shed some light. Veterans are voting Republican. And that’s not likely to change.

So, what you are saying is that more military personnel approve of Trump than did Obama.

    Got it.

I was meritoriously promoted to Corporal when I was deployed in Helmand.

My officers were still ****. They knew they were ****, and they knew we knew they were ****.

That is the most ridiculous statement you've come up with in a long time. Just another example of conservative hysterics on your part.

Thanks for your input, ex-Marine. Thank you for your 4 years of service. Did that promotion stick or did those two stripes come with a zipper? Velcro? :)

Agreed. OTOH, it was easier to vote for him than either Trump or Hillary.

I like the Libertarian ideals and platform, but they should focus more on local and state elections to build a base.

I think most voters who voted third party did so not because they knew much about whom they were voting for, but voted for them because their last name wasn't Trump or Clinton. Johnson was a complete unknown except for those like us who keep track of politics daily and visit sites like this one. No name recognition, no money, no political ads, no media attention, no nothing except on C-Span.

I find it interesting that the third party vote for 2016 was 6%. for 2012 it was 1.5%, for 2008 1.2% and for 2004 1.0%. Those years were when any third party candidate were basically unknown. Not Ross Perot who spent 40 million or even a Ralph Nadar like in 2000. Nadar had name recognition even though not much media attention. Still, Ralph received 2.7%.

Without a George Wallace, John Anderson, Ross Perot, Nadar and the like, third party candidates combined usually receive 1-1.5% of the total vote. The 6% in 2016 to me shows approximately 8 million people voted third party, not for the candidate/s, but against Trump and Clinton, both. The name on the ballot meant nothing more than not being Trump or Clinton. I doubt Johnson's Allepo misque meant anything.
