Hey DV...I re-read the post and it didnt convey the message...what I was trying to say was that Gillard was using the Qantas fiasco as a distraction for the asylum seekers continuing to arrive, (and drowning)..rather than resolve
the issue...but I suppose many politicians on both sides have done that over
    the years...

Recently the Queensland Police Service was granted a 4% pay rise.
Apparently, the word is that Treasury hasnt got the money to fund
    the pay increase.
Therefore, the Government, in its wisdom has told the QPS to fund their
    own payrise.
As a result of this, Brisbane Metro North has cut their budget by 50%
Thats right 50%...(other Divisions to follow this cut also...)
Non-operational Police have been told to hand in their weapons...
Dont know the reasoning behind that one...maybe the Treasury is
going to melt down the weapons and sell them as paperweights
    or something....
On top of the wonderful news that Gillard is pledging 6 billion
dollars to the IMF, we're being screwed....absolutely screwed....
We give billions of dollars in overseas aid to places like Indonesia,
we pledge billions of dollars to the IMF, our coppers are underpaid
and overworked (particularly in violent Western Australia) and guess
what...when we have floods and cyclones in Qld, the worst in history, Gillard
comes out and imposes a flood levy on all Australian taxpayers...

We are being SCREWED, people, unequivocally SCREWED...

Anyway...she'll be right mate...just chuck another shrimp on the
barbie...the apathetic Aussie attitude is alive and well...

Thats it for me this week folks...Im going fishing....:omg:

And so it came to pass in a land far far away known as the "Was once lucky country" Julia of the Red and her followers passed a law known as the "carbon tax"

And there was rejoicing and singing in the streets as the peasants danced
and celebrated long into the night...

For Julia of the Red was a good leader and everyone loved her...

Great and if it makes some of us walk to the shop instead of drive, turn off a light or two, look at what we keep on standby etc then the $100 or so a year it will cost us will be well worth it.

I would pay a $100 a year for myself, my partner, our 4 kids and 3 grandkids. It's a small price to pay to clean up our planet. I know it's just a start, but at least we are doing something.
