You are probably right but he has zero chances of getting past the Republican primaries, with all the rabid Trump followers being against him for his defiance of Trump. Exactly what could make of him an attractive general elections candidate, will doom him in the primaries so he will never get the nomination. He would be better off if he ran with a third party.

What is the difference between Trump's GOP and what you consider the real GOP?

I get a kick out of the alt-lefties now embracing Mittens when just a few years ago it was nothing but "binders full of women", "a dog on the roof of his car", and "Bain Capital".
How far so many have fallen or is it the same dementia issue that biden suffers from?

Don't let Romney fool you. His positions only give him more power in the party. Like the other two he will "go along" when the vote really counts.

We'll see. All he needs is a plurality and without Trump...

What is liberal about the Trump administration? If he isn't conservative or liberal then what would you say his politics are?

No. He should fight for his beliefs. Granted his Party has lost their way but he should fight to grab it from the hands of its lunatic fringe. Nothing wrong with being conservative and pulling the Party back from the far right edge might make it competitive.

Mitt Romney wears magic underwear to bed every night. Don't doubt me he's a devout Mormon they all do it.

Romney has a lot of like minded republicans in his camp.

The difference is that he has the courage to speak his convictions.

but, to be fair, his constituents are not Trump fans, either.

Throughout my life, being a republican stood for something. Romney is the quintessential conservative, like the Jack Kemps, the George Wills, The Bushes, the Buckleys, the Reagans, The Bob Doles, and so forth. He is a classic republican.

I have no ****ing Idea who Trump is, or anyone who supports him, because one thing is clear to me, they are not the kind of republicans I have known and understood since I got into politics in the 60s.

If anyone who should leave the republican party, or rather, whom the RNC should evict, is Donald Trump and his ilk.

Things really went downhill with republicans after Gingrich was speaker. Not long after, came the T party then the term 'right wingnut' came to be known.

For a damn good reason, they are to the right of the proverbial Atilla The Hun.

His social circle would ostracize him and his family. To a Moron operating on that level its basically worse than death. I don't imagine him ever switching sides but that doesn't mean he cant toe the line and vote with the Dems whenever he feels he can sell the personal justification angle like he did with impeachment.

The Chamber POT ( you know what that is) needs to be emptied before the real Republican Party can reimerge.

    Excellent excellent right you are!
I am in a similar position. I was a Democrat until the Democratic Party decided that they did not want us and me anymore. Conservative Democrats that is. I am a Republican but obviously not a fan of of the man who is destroying our democracy. Not a syncophants of Trump.

Good post and the crucial and most important words you have posted here "Just because you can think for yourself and they cannot you are the enemy". That is what I have been saying here on this forum.
    Well said, well done.

We need millions and millions of people like you to save our country from the fascist cult that has taken over part and country.

Romney is a conservative in the Bush one mold. He actually believes in facts. The GOP has a lot of Trump followers. He just isn’t one.

Again you speak with reason, clearity, and implied honesty. BRAVO!
Trump is the quintasentional opportunist . Opportunist is defined in one dictionary as "a person who exploits circumstances to gain immediate advantage rather than being guided by consistent principles or plans".

I suggest we add without any moral foundation or honesty to fit Trump in.

I literally do not understand partisanship. I understand ideals, but a person is not ideals. No single person is ideal. Ever. In the history of mankind, there is no perfect person.

    Including Obama, Trump & Clinton.

    WTF with some of you.
