And you have exactly what empirical evidence to back that up?

Let me guess, nothing, right? You just have "faith" that fairies and unicorns are real just like UFO's and your God, right?

There are plenty of evidence and testimonies to prove ufos exist. So as God.

Science has shown that testimonials are some of the weakest and most inaccurate forms of evidence there are. Other forms of evidence for UFO's are about as far from empirical as you can get.

    back on topic,

"the thin red line" was a fantastic biblical story - told via the battle of Guadalcanal circa WWII. interestingly, Jim Caviezel plays the jesus character in this, long before he played him in that 'other' movie. but for hard core and more literal bible feasting of the televisual variety, nothing beats "john from cincinatti". almost has you thinking that if HE was going to come back now, this is how he'd do it. for those who've not sampled, here's a bite sized chunk:

and finally, a great piece from the best of the 'period correct' bible movies:

forgot to link the trailer for "the thin red line". best biblical interpretation movie ever made. possibly the best movie ever made. hard going, though. deeply affecting film. you've been warned!

incidentally, Terrence Malick seems to have a thing for bible stories - his "the new world" was similarly, though not so obviously, themed.

Thank you. I already have. Now you give it a try. It'll be good for you.

I feel this way 'about nonsubscribers' only when they exhibit the anger and nastiness that people like you do towards 'subscribers'. Normal people simply ignore that which they disagree with and move along. Then there are people like you who go out of their way to attack 'subscribers' for some strange reason. For something that you find to be a 'superstition', it sure seems to get under your skin. Or maybe it pricks your conscience.

I'm sorry, but you're plain and simple wrong. The bible is a collection of fables, absolutely, but scientific theories are not fables.

    fa·ble
    [fey-buhl]
    noun
    1.
a short tale to teach a moral lesson, often with animals or inanimate objects as characters; apologue: the fable of the tortoise and the hare; Aesop's fables.
    2.
a story not founded on fact: This biography is largely a self-laudatory fable.
    3.
a story about supernatural or extraordinary persons or incidents; legend: the fables of gods and heroes.
    4.
legends or myths collectively: the heroes of Greek fable.
    5.
an untruth; falsehood: This boast of a cure is a medical fable.

We can disagree on ideas. We can't disagree on the established definition of a word.

The word definition is correct. The application of the word can definitely be questioned.

I heard this movie was so popular because of rumors there was a nude love scene between Russell Crowe and Emma Watson. I've not seen any headlines of "Hermione Whore" on the tabloids yet so I guess it's not so, dammit.

Well, that IS about as likely as Noah's flood being real

And to return to the "People Want God" theme. So?

Sure people want God, Hell, everybody wants to live forever in a absolutely wonderful place with all their old friends. Who doesn't like the idea that Justice will finally come to Hitler?

I want Angelina Jolie and Hayden Panetierre naked in my bed tonight, but I don't think any amount of prayer is going to make that happen.

suppose it would be like a deadbeat dad that never came around, expecting you to love and obey him and if you did not, he locked you in the basement and tortured you for the rest of your life - how could one not love a guy like that, a guy that would put the fear of daddy in you?

don't expect less from a God then you would from your common man... jmho

You didn't explain anything. You just said that if one is a fable so is the other. Explain why, for you, scientific theory is a fable that meets one or more of the definitions I posted earlier?

Theory is theory. That does not make them fact. You're sharp enough to figure that out.

If that is your perception of God, so be it.

Throughout the bible god projects that meme,... do what I say or I'll burn your butt for all eternity! That is the deal isn't it? (just as a side note I want my kids to love me because I love and respect them no matter what choices they make... not because I will burn them in a lake of fire if they don't!)

You know you are funnier than I gave you credit for being!

Please tell me that the point of the bible is not ... worship god or burn for eternity!

I understand your anger at things you do not understand. You speak of things you know nothing of. Don't lash out at me because of it. Now show me in the NT all the 'burn in hell or else' claims you have made.
