Perhaps and perhaps not. You rattled on endlessly it seemed about how there are sides in this country trying to convince good people to hate each other.

But the closest you came to specifics as to who is committing this hateful anti-American activity was providing links that fingered the Left. Yet you don't have the whatever to out and out say it in your post. Why not? Do you honestly not recognize what's happening?

Why create the impression that Left and Right are causing the Troubles when it's almost exclusively the Left doing it--from its leadership on down to the lowliest foot soldier in the antifa brownshirts?

What really gets up my nose about people who want to claim the moral high ground, is how often they don't care if that high ground is a pile of manure, as long as people can see them virtue signal from up there.

She and Scalia were BFFs at court. They ate lunch together every day. They thought each other was brilliant. I'm a fan of Scalia, so I'll take his word that she's got a world class mind.

lots of blacks supported it because of the gun ban-and they figured that was sticking it to white conservatives who vote GOP. The people who most likely to be affected by that gun ban was serious competitive shooters and gun rights advocates. Hoods in the ghetto don't tend to buy 1400 dollar FAL or Colt rifles and dozens of 30 round magazines

This wasn’t the rule however, he said “The Senate will continue to observe the ‘Biden rule’ so that the American people have a voice in this momentous decision” on who to name to the court.

You don’t get to make up history to fit your narrative.
I guess the people only get a voice when it isn’t a Republican.

Nah Harris would be the next president if Joe/Blow wins. Biden is less intellectually nimble than the possum I have living in my basement.

Well they quoted McConnell on several shows last night going back several years and he said the same thing I said he did. Every since the disgraceful treatment of Estrada and Keisler by the Dems-I say Mitch needs to ram someone down their throat-someone who is hard core Scalia

I quoted what he said on the Senate floor when he refused to even floor a vote — Mitch doesn’t get to make the decision by himself, and there are potentially enough Republicans that have found their ethics again to not allow a nomination until after inauguration. Maybe you should try a different news source?

That you are wanting to further sow discourse and partisan policy just to shows just to “get even” for events that happened two decades ago shows how far many Republicans have strayed away from wanting good governance and what is best for the nation. And btw, Scalia wasn’t a hack — some of the people on the “short list” are.

Republicans will be hypocrites and try to nominate someone. This shows their true motivations for blocking a nomination in 2016 was purely to keep a democrat from nominating a justice. From now on, the same party will have to control the presidency and the house for a justice to be nominated. Between those times, there will be a lot of empty Supreme Court seats. Thats our future.

Not if he continues saying that all the people who died from covid would still be alive were it not for President Trump, and that all their deaths is his fault. Eviscerating ones own credibility is not the path to voter confidence. Then again, Jeb Bush said that Trump can't insult his way to the Presidency. So I guess that anything is possible.

the the system has been broken ever since power hungry FDR threatened to pack the court and thereby pusswhipped several cowardly justices into crapping all over the Tenth and other amendments, to allow all sorts of unconstitutional nonsense.

I was a professional USPSA shooter back then. I had just signed a new contract with a new maker. The Clinton gun ban came in, and spare magazines (they gave me 6 but I need several more) went from 29 dollars to over 100. Lots of new shooters couldn't compete with guys like me who were shooting 22 round 9X21 (EAA Gold team-CZ clone), Or they had to burn lots of money getting magazines. Criminals weren't hurt by that nonsense.

Yeah, that was a bad move but since then Supreme Court justices mostly received bipartisan support and we almost never failed to nominate one quickly, ... until 2016. The Republican will in in the short term because of their lie in 2016. I knew in 2016 that this would destroy the supreme court selection process. We will have long periods of no replacement and maybe even periods where the court is expanded. Its going to be interesting for moderates like me to watch this mess unfold. I'll break out a beer.

I didn't realize that a gun ban was part of the crime bill. I guess that I was so busy working back then that I paid it no attention. Thanks for the info.

The Democrats do not appear to understand that a solid SC pick is more important than a Trump win in November.
I am not sure if I am surprised by this or not.

Trump did not win the presidency because of his insults. He won it because he was not a politician until his Inauguration Day.

I was an Assistant United States Attorney at the time. The "Omnibus crime bill" did have some good parts. Example. criminals in the federal system who had exhausted their direct appeal to a federal appellate court and then had that appeal denied-and failed to get Supreme court Review (one in over a 1000 manages a supreme court hearing)-would file what we called 2255 appeals-collateral attacks on their sentences. Different flavors, different years. Ineffective assistance of trial counsel (6th Amendment -GIDEON) was popular under Strickland v Washington. attacking the sentence under attacks on the sentencing guidelines was another. Some prisoners filed dozens of these petitions. The clinton bill limited them to far less-usually one. I liked that. The gun ban was idiotic though

As I said, only those who are not critical thinkers cannot see the encouragement of tribalism that is occurring.
So you are upset I didn’t provide MORE links to right wingers taking the bait? Two of my links were of “right wingers” taking the bait but you missed that. The riots are not to make cops stop killing people. They are designed to elicit counter violence. It is starting to work. When we who loath the riotous behavior begin to act with the same disregard for human dignity and life as the rioters we have lost the moral high ground.
How long do 4 year olds roll on the floor pounding their fists on the carpet and yelling when nobody pays them any attention?
If you think my posts in this thread are virtue signaling you don’t pay much attention to my posting history. If you think my empathy for RBG’s family is a pile of manure, then you have proved my point well beyond my ability to do so on my own.

Murder will happen in the dark no matter what, legalizing it isn’t the right thing to do
