There's no reason to panic or jump to conclusions. Maybe you'd be happier taking Novavax.

    https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2107659

    It's not all clear sailing:

"Population-level evidence suggests that the Omicron variant is associated with substantial ability to evade immunity from prior infection. In contrast, there is no population-wide epidemiological evidence of immune escape associated with the Beta or Delta variants. This finding has important implications for public health planning, particularly in countries like South Africa with high rates of immunity from prior infection. Urgent questions remain regarding whether Omicron is also able to evade vaccine-induced immunity and the potential implications of reduced immunity to infection on protection against severe disease and death."

Oh, please--I haven't run across anyone who wants the pandemic to continue.

Working professionals of all stripes are busy people, especially those in medicine. They don't have the time make dozens of posts throughout the day on a forum like this.

The most active posters here are either retired, unemployed, or have a job that doesn't require them to be Johnny on the spot.

Well, "NO reason" other than getting an mRNA vaccine dose has been shown to make people 50% less likely to get reinfected.
You do realize influenza and chicken pox are cause by other viruses--right?

    Complete fabrication.

    Irrelevant.

Do you vaccinate for chicken pox after getting chicken pox?
Do you vaccinate for flu after getting flu?
Do you vaccinate for covid after getting covid?

True, but so far less for vaccinated folks.
But we can mitigate its impact.

The people likely to suffer the most if covid wrecks the economy are living in red states.

Those cartoons reflect the image your side likes to project on those who choose not to vax. Of course, none of the medical personnel who were fired over their choice not to take the shot would look like that?

    So you say.

"Although laboratory evidence suggests that antibody responses following COVID-19 vaccination provide better neutralization of some circulating variants than does natural infection (1,2), few real-world epidemiologic studies exist to support the benefit of vaccination for previously infected persons. This report details the findings of a case-control evaluation of the association between vaccination and SARS-CoV-2 reinfection in Kentucky during May–June 2021 among persons previously infected with SARS-CoV-2 in 2020. Kentucky residents who were not vaccinated had 2.34 times the odds of reinfection compared with those who were fully vaccinated (odds ratio [OR] = 2.34; 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.58–3.47). These findings suggest that among persons with previous SARS-CoV-2 infection, full vaccination provides additional protection against reinfection. To reduce their risk of infection, all eligible persons should be offered vaccination, even if they have been previously infected with SARS-CoV-2.*"

People who have had covid can be reinfected.

Even if it’s 99%, why should I care? I had it in such a light form that an average cold causes more discomfort than covid.
In my eyes, even the tiny risk of the vaccine is a significantly higher threat to my health than my risk of being really hurt if I get reinfected with covid.

That's a great way to get people to listen to you. .

Ridicule and belittle them and look down your haughty nose upon them.

Too bad they don't teach common courtesy in higher learning. But we can't all trade our ego for humbleness...

It's about keeping the pandemic going by not getting vaccinated.

People who have had covid and the shot can be reinfected. Nothing so far known to man keeps you from getting infected.

I was talking about who will suffer economically, not about which state has the most infections. It's obviously an issue you don't understand.

The vaccines can reduce your chance of becoming infected and reduce your chance of having serious illness.

    From British Columbia, Canada:

"Past week, cases per 100,000 population after adjusting for age (Nov. 25 to Dec. 1)
    • Not vaccinated: 176.3
    • Partially vaccinated: 44.0
    • Fully vaccinated: 22.6
Past two weeks, cases hospitalized per 100,000 population after adjusting for age (Nov. 18 to Dec. 1)
    • Not vaccinated: 32.6
    • Partially vaccinated: 7.8
    • Fully vaccinated: 1.8"

Nothing prevents reinfection, not shots, not surviving Covid, nothing. Are the shots supposed to help? Well that's the story and it's why I got the first two and then the booster but I don't feel invincible.

Perhaps your issue is that you need a hug.

So, who disagrees? Even polio shots aren't 100% effective.
    You shouldn't feel invincible,

And you think that if only they were more authoritarian that they wouldn't suffer as much? Is that your contention?
