Perhaps such should be done. But the united states is bound by international treaty and cannot undertake such a course of action, even if it wanted to do such. Even if it attempted, the tobacco industry would likely never support such a proposal as it would cut into its profits, and as such it has a financial incentive to lobby in opposition to legalization, and contribute significant funding to politicians who are willing to heed their call.

 

There is some critical information missing, like is she on parole? If so, she was wrong and should be punished. If she has completed her entire sentence, then I disagree, she should have every right every other citizen has. The bigger problem here is found within the system itself. If we think someone is not responsible enough to enter society and enjoy all its freedoms, they shouldn't be let back into society. I do not favor infringing on anyone's right for life. If someone has committed a crime and paid for the crime they are innocent until proven guilty of their next potential crime, there is little basis to infringe upon their rights, whether for gun or votes or whatever other restrictions the state wishes to impose...

 

I hope she gets a jury trail and aquitted .

With legalization he gains tremendous support, and the left can’t attack him on it, if they do it’s what we call disenfranchising your base.
