Imagine how less safe we would all be, if something that ultimately killed of the US as a people, were to enter their food and water.

Never again could any country be liberated.

I keep hearing about Monsanto, especially from my daughter because the modified wheat seems to be causing glucose intolerance. It seems the famed amber waves of grain in the Midwest have now turned brown. I was surprised that the government would pass legislation allowing genetic engineering, and knew it couldn't be the Republicans. They are much too conservative and have always supported family farms and small business', and that it had to have been the Clinton administration. Well it was, and at the time when they had the support of both houses in Congress.:frustrated: :

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

"Bill (Clinton)’s FDA gave Monsanto permission to market rBGH in 1993 (a GE bovine growth hormone), the first genetically engineered product let loose on us (or did tomatoes with fish DNA get there first?)." (Linn Cohen-Cole)

The Rose Law Firm, the corporate law firm of which Hillary Clinton was a partner from 1977 is home to Industrial Agriculture and genetic engineering.

The truth behind this shocking state of things is the fact that Monsanto and the Food and Drug Administration have been working very close together ever since the Clinton era. Michael Taylor, formerly legal advisor to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (Deputy Commissioner for Policy at FDA (1991-94), had also previously worked as a lawyer for Monsanto. "One of Taylor's duties was to represent Monsanto's efforts to get its bovine growth hormone approved by the FDA." (Political Friendster)

" Attorney for Monsanto who rewrote the "regulations" for Genetically Modified foods. His brilliant addition is the "substantial equivalence" measure which says if the nutrition measures are the same … " (Political Friendster).

Since they were now declared to be "substantially equivalent", there was no more any need for proof as to their harmlessness for human consumption.

The Clinton administration even attempted to alter the organic food standards to include genetically engineered foods, irradiated foods, and sewage sludge as fertilizer for organic crops.

I think the sad truth is that we lost this country after JFK was assassinated, but it is very sad that so many people are so misinformed as to what a villain Clinton actually is! Intent of any of these SOB's be dam#ed.

We need to hang all these traitors from tall tree's and short ropes!

The worst part of all of this now is that we have went D1992, D1996, R2000, R2004, D2008, D2012, and throughout all of these administrations the presence special interest's and lobbying hi-jacking our government from the American people is plain as day.

As far as I am concerned anyone who votes for a Republican or Democrat is a traitor to their country at this point!

Did we go wrong after JFK, or did we go wrong during his administration? Anyway our Presidents are not traitors, it's the liberal idiology of the Democrats that is screwed. I'm sure it wasn't hard for Monsanto to convince the Clintons that genetic engineering was beneficial for mankind. The Clinton's liberal ideology was screwed in foreign policy as well. Bill Clinton ignored Russias concern over Kosovo and our illegal entree into the Serbian civil war, and by ignoring it he started another Cold War. Let's hope it doesn't end up in a real war, because things are heating up mighty fast in that part of the world.

It was also under the Clintons that the government began giving Federal grants to schools willing to adopt their liberal social agendas, and for children as young as twelve. Basically the Clintons messed up this nation and messed up the world as well, but of course everyone loves him....which only proves how stupid people are. :frustrated:

Every problem I have with Clinton has nothing to do with being a Liberal, and everything to do with being a bought and paid for whore.

Just as every problem I have with Bush has nothing to do with being a conservative, and everything to do with being a bought and paid for whore.

Right vs. Left is a game of misdirection!

If either party actually did what it says, or engaged in actions that reflected their rhetoric, we wouldn't have the problems we have today.

I couldn't watch the whole thing, but isn't it lovely that our government has now passed legislation so Monsanto cannot be sued if people get sick or die. Much of Europe will not allow them, but I guess here in the U.S. our lives are of no value. I guess that's one way of lowering the population, give them food that will kill them.

Oh well why not, the fish in fish farms are being fed foods that will give us no nutritional value when we eat them, not to mention the poisons they contain, and our animals are fed hormones so we can all grow bigger and mature at an earlier age. And then there are the antibiotics given to animals, so that one third of the people are suffering from digestive problems, and I could go on and on....

If anyone was in doubt that the US is no longer a Gov of the people etc, then the fact that it has dropped its pants for this company (guess where they raise their money, yes, those banks that steal!), a company that are going to, for all Americans are aware, give you so many illnesses, in the near to long term.

The company do not care, and nor do your Gov.

    Why would they?

All they care about is money, as a plutocracy does.

    You?

You are merely there to consume, and do as you are told.

With all of that said, if people actually worked together, they could resolve some of these issues, so at least it did not impact on their neighbourhood as much, get together, and use their creativity to build something they can all benefit from.

US have always had much more lax food regulations, that is what happens when you create a nation, or let one develop that has too much a love of money.

The problem with a love of money is that it is not finite, therefore, more and more ways are invented, to make more money faster.

If that means risk the health of millions of Americans, they see it as collateral damage.

They probably expect it to as well, hence the clause.

Your political elite and their corporate mates won't be eating this stuff mind you.

You may love your cat, but in the end, you feed it cat food, right?

That is what a plutocracy does in the eyes of plutocrats, reduces you all to cattle/pets.

A bit leftfield, I admit, but why not?

Easy to breed, plentiful, less cruelty, full of protein, and what is more, won't give ya cancer!

Yeah, I know, it does not sound nice, but is it any different to eating prawns or snails, for example?

Believe it or not, there was a time when our FDA (Federal Department of Agriculture), watched over everything, and our food, drugs, and cosmetics were considered the safest and best in the world. It all began to change after the Kennedy administration. Everything went downhill from then on, including our schools, etc. During his presidency, the head of the FDA was given an award for not allowing a certain drug to be marketed, even though she was under intense pressure to do so from the corporations. She felt it hadn't been tested enough and she was right. The babies of European women who had taken the drug, were born with only partially developed arms.

Monsanto was a client of Hillary Clinton when she practiced law, and they easily convinced her of the benefits of genetic engineering. So much so, that Bill Clinton appointed a Monsanto executive to be in charge of the FDA. It was when the Democrat Bill Clinton was president and when both houses were controlled by Democrats that legislation was passed allowing genetic engineering. There is no way the Republicans would have ever allowed it to pass, since the party consists of, and is supported by the Christian Conservatives.

Of course it stands to reason that Monsanto is one of the Democratic parties strongest supporters.

    And now they don't.

So your options are to accept that, and work around it.

Or accept it, complain, but eat their stuff anyway. Then get sick.

    I have no idea.

    Is it?

You tell me, since you raise it.

I am discussing the lack of control over what we eat here.
