One can spread horse crap as fine as one wishes and preach it in five syllable words at great length and call it sober analysis if one wishes, but it does not change the quintissential fact that it is horse crap.

Did most Americans want this bill. No they didn't. The bill will make inflation worse because it will make energy more expensive. Further most Americans have no idea what's in the bill. And if they did they'd be outraged.

Paybacks to the donor class, goodies for federal and state workers tax increases in one fashion or another for almost everyone else. In other words it is the usual Democrat spending bill with nothing for the American people especially that fractious middle class who have been voting for change for 20 years and just keep getting kicked in the teeth and everything for the donor class.

The fact the most Americans are economic illiterates and fewer still have any idea what's actually in the bill or how it will impact them personally telld me that in the end when those zombie chickens the bill is littered with come home to roost the Democrats are doomed.

Ah, I thought that by "expanding the money supply" you meant printing new bills. I'm old enough to remember Alan Greenspan's stint at the Fed, when we called him "Uncle Al, the Mad Printer."

I still disagree that the current inflation (which appears to be at least temporarily lessening) has only one cause. There's that pesky old supply and demand thingy. The pandemic-related supply issues sent the prices of everyday essentials soaring due to scarcity. Add to that the various shortages currently ramping up due to Ukraine being one of the world's biggest bread basket.

I stand by my comments here ... there is no one single cause of inflation, and it cycles around no matter who is in any office. Trump's attempts to manipulate stock values are not even one of the biggest causes.

    Women.

If it had been a comparison of nose sizes featuring two black men, it wouldn't be funny, it would be racist.

Pick whatever cause you choose. At the end of the day, whichever one you want to pick, the government caused it. And now, you're begging the government to fix it. They got you by the nose, ol' buddy...lol

I would venture to say that most Americans don't have much of a clue on the specifics of what's in the new and improved Build Back Better bill.

    1. I'm not begging anyone to fix anything.

    2. Not your "ol' buddy", no offense. And no one has me by the nose, or any other of my lovely little body parts.

Yes, it was. The pandemic created the supply side issues, and it got governments in 2020, especially in US to, inject massive amounts of money into the economy. And yes, it was your political leader who demanded the money injections, and he was calling for more even after he had left the office.

Its fairly irrelevant since it did not pass the Congress.

It sounds like you are begging them to NOT fix it. Its almost as if you want to keep the problem so you can complain about it.

The government can't fix inflation, unless it collapses the economy.

Then you pass it to your employer, and your employer writes it off.
Unless you live in a conservative run state..Then you get what you voted for, low wages.

They don't have to, it gets absorbed by the global economy. The individual gets paid more, and the employer writes it off to the government in tax savings.

This bill is just more for the graft whores, doubles the IRS, and sends green graft to the Carbon Cult.

Why Solar Power Is Failing Amid Record-Breaking Heat
    [IMG]
'...solar panels work optimally at around 25oC and start becoming less efficient when the heat goes above this..."

To convert from Celsius to Fahrenheit. Double the 25 to 50, subtract a 1/5th of the original number = 45 and then add 32 = 77.

"This summer brought record-breaking heat, with temperatures reaching as high as 40ºC in the UK. Solar panels become less efficient as temperatures rise."

So, solar as a source of power for your air conditioning with your life depends on it, is a bit of a physics challenge. In Southwest US heat approaching 120 degrees your solar panels will lose 12% of their efficiency.

Make sure you consider this in your calculations.

It is an expense to the corporation. They will deal with it like any other expense.

Until, they get undercut, so it evens out till saturation.
And dont pretend like corporations dont do layoffs even during record profits.

The tariffs were to encourage American industries to make thing here rather than in China.

For those who asked for it and are too lazy to look it up:
What does Biden’s bill get you:
-$375bn over the decade in climate-fighting “strategies”. AKA, funding their climate cronies.
-The bill also gives tax credits for nuclear power and carbon capture technology that oil companies such ExxonMobil have invested millions of dollars to advance. (I.E. A payoff for playing nice with energy politics.)
-a new fee on excess methane emissions from oil and gas drilling while giving fossil fuel companies access to more leases on federal lands and waters. A tax on production
-$4bn to combat a mega-drought in the west. OK, how do you fight a draught?
-For consumers, there are tax breaks as incentives to go green. One is a 10-year consumer tax credit for renewable energy investments in wind and solar. There are tax breaks for buying electric vehicles, including a $4,000 tax credit for purchase of used electric vehicles and $7,500 for new ones (inflation says good luck with that. Only the upper middle class is buying electric cars)
-In all, Democrats believe the strategy could put the country on a path to cut greenhouse gas emissions 40% by 2030, and “would represent the single biggest climate investment in US history, by far”. (Mark this date as the day America died of self inflicted wounds.)
    -prescription drugs, yada, yada
    -health care,yada, yada
    How they pay for it:
-15% on corporations (who will pass it on to you to hold margins.)
-IRS. Don’t worry they aren’t after you. Nope. Those 86,000 gun toting agents are going after Trump!
So that’s the highlights. Taxing big corporations more simply make Chinese competitors relatively cheaper. Other “less than big” corps will inflate into it, and shaking down taxpayers.
And not a nickel spent on increasing America’s productivity, nor a realistic way to power the American economy.

Getting the last molecules of pollution will bankrupt us. You done good with smog, but that was a localized problem with a solution. In 1968, the PCV valve had not been invented.
It has been largely solved. Now they are working on spending stupid big money for incremental gains. There is never “good enough” when you are spending someone else money!

Its in the gas tax, so its only spending the money of people who pollute.

    River in Cleveland

Same river after it caught fire. It was so polluted that caught fire at least a dozen times

And today. And no, it did not bankrupt the US to fix it

I never addressed any such situation one way or the other.

The tax adds to the corporation expense. They have several options. None of them good. They can raise the price of their product. They can cut expenses elsewhere such as reducing wages of employees. They can reduce their profits to their stockholders.

Most Americans want inflation reduced, which is not in the Inflation Reduction Act. That's their number one worry.

It will come down. All inflations, historically speaking, have settles as markets forces and issues sort themselves out.

There's still a lot of good stuff in the IRA that's good, and that's the point of the article.
