Most arrested Trump rioters face felonies, 10 years in jail, $250k fine.

Maybe I haven't caused enough trouble in my life? Is it possible to be facing such punishments and also be released without bail?
Doesn't make sense to me. Doesn't smell right. Should be at least a $10,000 bail just as a deterrent for future crimes because they'll probably all disappear anyway.

 

To be fair, I have seen nothing that actually demonstrates that anyone was paid to riot, or even protest, though it would not surprise me either way.

While people often do horrible things for money, I would never underestimate the human tendency toward being self-righteously destructive with no other inducement than the mistaken belief that one is doing something important. Snowflakes and lemmings are not completely dissimilar.

Moreover, most of the folks I saw on the videos of the riots looked young, mid-twenties at the latest. At that age, it is common for people to have an unconscious assumption that they will not be held accountable for their actions, that nothing bad will happen to them. In general, millennial adolescent have been held accountable to an even lesser degree than gen-X adolescents were.

I hope these kids receive very well-deserved butt-reamings, complete with prison, fines that require decades to pay, and permanent records. If the authorities make the penalties severe enough and public enough, then perhaps the next batch of self-righteous leftist nit-wits will stick to holding signs that oversimplify complex issues, and yelling things that demonstrate both the lack of understanding and unwillingness to think critically that are typical of the modern leftists.

People paid them to show up and protest. (actually riot)
If the same people provided transportation and provided training, instructions or any supervision of a coordinated disturbance, then the people who paid for it should be charged with felony riot and conspiracy.
