I have news for you. Australia has universal health care, and it is no more bankrupt that the USA is.

Corporatism is a political ideology which advocates the organization of society by corporate groups, such as agricultural, labour, military, scientific, or guild associations on the basis of their common interests. The term is derived from the Latin corpus, or "human body". The hypothesis that society will reach a peak of harmonious functioning when each of its divisions efficiently performs its designated function, such as a body's organs individually contributing its general health and functionality, lies at the center of corporatist theory.

They have been paired by various advocates and implemented in various societies with a wide variety of political systems, including authoritarianism, absolutism, fascism, liberalism and socialism. _ Wiki

I think "down under" posters seem to assume that everything in Australia can be directly compared to the US. With respect to economic comparisons, have you considered scalability? The US population is over seven times your population. Secondly, your debt is something like 500 million whereas US debt is over 22 Trillion. What makes you think social programs that are affordable in your country will be affordable in the US?

I am not surprised that Matthews finds himself in trouble. This was bad form. In and of itself, that's okay as long as you point it at the approved targets. *snark off*

The very 'scalability' you refer to. Are you aware how Australia funds it.....in a very socialist way?

Sure -- for purposes of discussion I would like to hear how you fund it. I would also like to hear your theory of how a country that is 22 Trillion in debt is going to afford it.

Simple. Pay for it. A levy, which currently is a 2% levy on residents’ taxable income over a certain income.

Sorry, all I can do is tell you how universal health care is funded in Australia. It is socialised. If you don't like it, then that is your problem. Not mine. I can go to a hospital tomorrow and get treated for nothing. I can go to a GP and pay SFA for seeing s/him. You?

As others have pointed out to you, our countries are vastly different. If you cant show me the numbers, you may make a believer of me.

I have shown you the number. Two (that is a number) per cent of every citizen's income beyond a threshold.

More than 13 times actually which makes the comparison even more silly.

Excellent healthcare is available in many countries at much less cost per person than in the U.S.
Ultimately, it doesn't matter what label ideologues insist on applying to a system that serves the populace well.

Sure. If it were only so simple. Now do the math for our numbers and dont forget to factor in welfare cases VS producers. Start with this, our population is roughly 360 million and go from there.

Do it yourself. It works here. 2% of just about every taxpayer's income is what? Is that 2% beyond the capacity of US taxpayers to get health care?

Someone already pointed out to you, trying to compare you're country to ours is not remotely, similar.

    They are wrong.

It is, as someone said, just a matter of 'scalability.' That's not too hard you know. 2% of everyone's income socialised across the Nation. Gee, I wonder what % you all pay to keep POTUS flying to play golf, and how much you pay to keep your military brisling. Health care for all, that would be so nasty, I know. Appalling.

So unfair. I blame leftists, you?

I blame your lack of understanding of math for such a simplistic view and lack of ability to see the differences.

It works here. Are you unwilling to give up a mere 2% of your income so that you and your mates get universal health care?

We pay 7% sales tax and our roads are potholed as hell. Why should I believe that figure will cover it? If we cant even take care of potholes.
