There is no "so what" about it. Princess Frances "was" awarded the scholarship because Tony Abbott was Frances Abbott's father, and therefore, the school could have bragging rights. It has everything to do with Abbott, he knows this scholarship had only been award once before since its inception - to the school founders daughter, and now to his daughter. Tony Abbott knows the scholarship was automatically awarded to Frances Abbott without any other candidate being considered -none of the other students even knew the scholarship existed.

Tony Abbott is directly saying that the other students didn't deserve the opportunity to apply for the scholarship, because his princess daughter was the daughter of the Prime Minister, and better than the common folk.

What kind of morals, principals, and ethics does this demonstrate from a Prime Minister and his daughter by accepting a scholarship that no other students were allowed to apply for?

Mate Abbott is a pom, and like some poms, they love their monarchy. Now the monarchy is based on a "Them and Us" mentality. Yes throughout history we have had some very great and benevolent royalty ..... BUT it was always "Oh deary me yes ... the subjects, throw them some bread". In recent times this benevolence has become more grounded, more a display of "We are really just like you." and they are, they bleed blood just like we do. They join the army, get jobs, do charity work etc, but it's not like us, it can't be. So matter what, no matter what facade they show us, it will and has to be .... it is what it is.

So Abbott is one of the fans, the would be if I could bees ... a bit like kids at a Miley Syrus concert, or the women that throw their panties at Tom Jones.

During the first world war, the reason we were so F@#ked over was that the officers, the leaders, were not soldiers, but aristocrats. Throughout history it is quite open and there for all to see, the Lords and Ladies were in all the positions, the rest were just the serfs, the slaves ... this mentality is gone, gone from view that is, gone from mention, gone from discussion ... but it is there, it is ingrained into the mentality, it is an integral part of it, it would not exist without it.

The Monarchy is an "Us and Them" system by it's very definition, and no matter how benevolent it is, no matter how tied in a democratic system that it virtually becomes a figure head rather than a governing position, even just a tourist attraction, it is still "Us and Them".

... And while ever that mentality is held by governments, they too will be "Us and Them". Abbott is definitely a "Me and Them man" and the harder he tries to show he is not, the more obvious it becomes that he is.

Quite clearly you are an 'Us and Them' man too. Not sure about you mate but I don't have a serf mentality.

I was talking about Abbott not you personally but if I touched a nerve, well that's not my fault.

This has nothing whatsoever to with Tony Abbott. He palyed no part in the decision to award the scholarship. The school could award the scholarship to whomever they pleased, if they decided it would be good for the school to have the pm's daughter there, then that was their decision. Nothing to do with Tony Abbott. This is just a slimy, lefty attempt to tar Tony Abbott with a decision made by someone else, a decision he played no part in.

100% correct ... The article should have been the subject of Abbott accepting or allowing his daughter to accept, and indeed his daughter herself accepting such an obviously self centered scholarship. My God if my daughter was awarded something for reasons like this, not because she deserved it, not because she needed the money, but purely for the financial and status gains of those awarding the scholarship, if I knew that they were USING me, USING my position, USING the faith put in me be my supporters, why would I unless I was totally self absorbed, stupid, uncaring and blissfully ignorant of morals or class.

Like I have said previously, you can't blame them from trying, but you can certainly blame the Abbott family itself for an absolutely disgusting and blatant show of "Yes I am going to use my position to my families advantage and no I do not care if it is unfair" .

It has every thing to do with Tony Abbott, because he is Frances Abbotts Father, and should have instilled in her the same ethic & morals he forces onto everyone else in the community under HIS leadership due to his strong supposed Christian values. So in other words, its ok for his daughter to abandon morals and ethics, but every else has to live by them?

Frances Abbott is an adult and can make her own decisions. Nothing to do with her father. If she does something you don't like and you point your finger at her father you are guilty of the same twisted morals that you are accusing Tony Abbott of having. Parents are not responsible for the actions of their adult children just as we are not responsible for the actions of our parents.

No. Frances is not an adult who can stand on their own two-feet, and Tony Abbot would know this. This is not the first time she has used her father to get her way. She also used him during a rental dispute at a tribunal, advocating that the owner of the property "should" have known the locks on the property were insufficient for a Prime Ministers daughter.

Har har har har! So Francie uses the fact that she is the pm's daughter to her advantage when she can. Good on her! Still nothing to do with her father, he is not responsible for anything she does.

Again you are 100% correct.... but it does reflect on the values he has instilled on his family. Get what you can get, use whatever means you need to, do not worry about others, serve your own interests first. Great values.

and this is what he took to the election, disguised of course in a way that fools would believe him, but I am no fool Tonee

If you believe Frances Abbot has good morals and ethics by taking unfair advantage of other people, because of her fathers position, then that is your prerogative.

Absolute rubbish! A persons behaviour does not necessarily reflect anything on their parents. Are you saying all bad people have got bad parents? All good people have good parents? The parents of a criminal must also be criminals? That is bigotry.

    Never said that.

Yes he is responsible, obviously. It reflects his upbringing.
Abbott's daughter has missed out a lot because if he would have done the job right, she would have refused. You may also say, like father, like daughter.....
Ups, I forgot, you warship the Liberals...
