All your posts about atheism make you seem really insecure. Why are you obsessed?

Wrong again. Napoleon famously crowned himself.

Glad you acknowledge you can't prove your earlier statement:
Was atheism of central importance to Communism? Yes or no?

Arguing against Christianity is not the same as arguing against Atheism.

Christianity has a set of rules and moral teachings, all written down in a book.

Atheism does not, it has no ideology. Nor does Theism. However religions, by definition, are ideologies.

To say that Atheism is Communism, is simply wrong. It doesn't make sense.

I can't say for instance, that Ji-Hadists (however you spell that) are Theists and therefore Christians, because they are also Theists, are also guilty of their crimes. Despite the fact that they follow different and opposing ideologies. Because that makes no sense!

If you want to attack Communism, go for it, but don't lump me, as an atheist, in with the communists because I do not follow that ideology.

So then all the posts by obsessive atheists attacking Christians would reveal atheists to be insecure? In my experience, atheists can't stop talking about God! lol

It's good that you reject Communism, but you hardly represent all atheists. The majority of the world's atheists are Communists.

And Communism is not the only dangerous atheist/ secular/ anti-Christian ideology. There's also utilitarianism, materialism (unscientific and reduces man to a collection of chemicals), and Randian Objectivism.

Though I believe in evolution I also recognize that some of the most evil ideologies in history derive from a perverted Darwinism. Secular thinkers have taken "survival of the fittest" as a moral code and given the world fascism, imperialism, pseudo-scientific racism, and Social Darwinism.

Is atheism capable of inspiring? What great literature, music, art has atheism inspired?

    The Marquis de Sade?

    Arthur Miller? (boring Communist hack)

Woody Allen (pretentious, interested in incest)

Penn & Teller (washed up celebrities trying to whore their way up by appealing to elite prejudice)

Atheists might shock or enjoy irony but can they really create? Don't the "freethinkers" usually end up marching in step to some "fearless leader".

    atheist art

Look at the upper class white males who dominate the atheist movement in the U.S. and Europe. The culture they've created is about as lively as a ward for the terminally ill.

Agh .... atheists have EVERYTHING that ANY OTHER religion has.

    Let me show you:

    http://books.google.com/books?id=9n...ook_result&ct=result&resnum=2&ved=0CEMQ6AEwAQ

An Atheist Bible? And interesting one, as it addresses the oft heard contention that atheists do not think science is their religion .... just a Bible for atheism.

    http://books.google.com/books?id=Qp...&resnum=1&ved=0CDgQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q&f=false

A Manifesto? One that basically bashes religion ala Hitchens, which is an odd coincidence don't you think? Funny that they would call the ritualized bashing of Christianity a manifesto, eh?

Here is Hitchens similar works as well:

    http://books.google.com/books?id=bO...&resnum=1&ved=0CDEQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q&f=false

    The Philosophy of the Atheism?

    http://books.google.com/books?id=MC...ook_result&ct=result&resnum=2&ved=0CC4Q6AEwAQ

Once again, it is a contrast with .... Christianity.

    Atheist Ideology?

    http://books.google.com/books?id=Ri...sQ6AEwBA#v=onepage&q=Atheist Ideology&f=false

An entire book detailinh the various ideological view points of modern atheism.

And here is a typical agenda of an average atheist organization:

    http://www.atheistfoundation.org.au/about-us

It includes, as many (though not all), a legal definition of atheism that make it, for legal purposes, a religion.

Now, why is it when someone searches for atheism .... do we find SO MUCH MORE than JUST the belief in no God?

What is at issue here is not wether atheism begins and ends with a single sentence, clearly there is much more that flows beyond such a claim.

What is at issue is why atheists deny that this literal mountain of information is not there? Why so many atheists reval the indocrtination process by very often making the same arguements? Sharing the same information from one group to another?

The reason? It is a lack of discipline and standards.

As we see in the works above, and very often right here on this forum, most atheist are concerend with the minutia of Christianity finding fault and contradictions. Such actions inevitably cause those being attacked through such processes to take a good hard look at what atheists are saying themselves .... and they are saying A LOT. Much if far more contradictory than any religion I have ever studied.

Yet when confronted with these contradictions, the very same atheists who make these contradictory arguements will state that these are simply 'other atheists' or that there is no ability to be making these arguements because .... atheism has no doctrine.

    It pretty clearly does.

And please bear in mind, EVERY religion has a holy book, not every Christian believes every word of the Bible, and even acknowledge the change in practices brought about by .... Jesus. The concept of Biblical inerrancy is something that only fundamentalist Christians and atheists wishing to bash religion believe.

It is a dogmatic view of much more complex reality often fousted on Christians. And yet when we look at YOUR writing, even see athists argueing the very things printed in these works .... well, that is not what atheists believe at all, huh?

As hard as the poster tries and tries and tries again, one simple fact really does allude him/her:
Atheism is simple a rejection in the belief of any and all deities.

    Nothing more, nothing less.

Until the above poster realizes this, all of his/her posts is nothing but a waste of screen space.

No, I'm sorry, you have it all wrong, stones.

See, I wrote a book, and that automatically means you read it and follow it, even though it was written hundreds of thousands of years after the position was created by default.

    You don't have a choice.

By the way, how's your tax-free status coming for not playing sports?

Talmud and Torah, Bible and New Testament, Koran and the Hadith offer insufficient grounds for me to choose between Jewish, Christian or Muslim misogyny.Or to opt against pork and alcohol but in favor of the veil or the burka, to attend the synagogue, the temple, the church, or the mosque, all places where intelligence is ailing and where, for centuries, the faithful have practised obedience to dogma and submission to the law-and therefore obedience and submission to those who claim to be the elect, the envoys and the word of God.

Bender didn't refer to all posts by a certain group of people, he/she referred to the nature of a single posters posts, namely Blackrook's posts and not those of others. It pertained to his posts alone, not "all posts by obsessive [insert group of people]".

All those fallacies, sigh. It's such a waste.

In my experience, some can't stop telling me about their gods. It only seems appropriate to tell them, in turn, what I think of that.

Insuffient? Or simply not read? Billions choose differently, but what would they know? Clearly you understand THEIR faith better than they do?

Yep,and there is a significant group of atheists that engage in EXACTLY the type of behavior Blackroot is talking about. These guys are atheists are they not?

Now, most people would acknowlegde that this is a generalized comment, but, as the behavior is wide spread enough, such generalities become .... in effect a simpler way that having to coach every statement about atheism with the caviat that not all atheists behave like this. Sort of like talking about general conservative principles. 'Conservative' does not indicate ALL conservatives ... generally speaking in these types of dicussions that is a given.

THe problem is not that blackroot's obervations are too general, it is that they very accurately describe a rather large group of atheists behavior.

After all, as you trapse through a religion section wondering about a non-specific number of Christians who cannot stop talking to you about God? That is pretty general is it not? How big is some? And much respsonsibility is on the Christian side? How much on your for quite obviously choosing to engage in a discussion about God by voluntarily coming to this section.

Admittedly, there are Christians that are quite aggressive and rude, and when people cricticize Christians (and others) for this behavior, the problem does not go away simply because someone states that the the criticism is too general?

BTW - if we are trulely concerned about overly general criticism and a lack of delineation, why is no one taking metalhead to task for his very cleary over generalizing comments? If that is indeed a problem?

Billions that are religious dont really choose. Most of the time they are simply born into it. As recent study has shown also, those that identify as Christian or religious generally, would drop their religiousness instantly if pressed. When the Norse Gods, or the Greek gods or those of the Romans were institutionally recognized, praise of them was widespread, no different to today. Like then as now, faith in these entities is based entirely on social forces, and there isn't much choice in it. Its amazing how people still fall over, bang their head on a table, have a dream and then take as a sign from God. Humanity is hilarious.

Because the CP of the USSR ran itself as a religion with its own Messiah and Apostles (Marx, Lenin, Stalin), Dogma (their writings and state propaganda), and Church hierarchy (the Party apparatus itself). There was NOTHING about Stalin's regime that respected skepticism and free thought; instead, absolute belief and obedience were expected and enforced... much like most Christian tyrants have done for centuries.

"The majority of Atheists are Communists", to me this means nothing. I'd just say, the majority of Communists are Chinese.

Atheism doesn't have a bible. It CANNOT have a bible, it makes no sense. You can have bibles that conform to Atheism, that doesn't make it the Atheist Bible. I don't care if there are religions that conform to Atheism, because I don't follow them.

Do Christians think that Christianity or Theism is less legitimate because Ji-Hadists believe by blowing themselves up and killing innocent people they will go to paradise? No I don't think so because you follow different ideologies.

The Atheist Manifesto is not The Definitive Atheist Ideology, such a thing cannot exist. It's one of hundreds of Atheistic ideologies, that still does not make Atheism itself an ideology. The stupid author just hijacked the title from the communist manifesto obviously, to draw attention to his book. The range of Atheistic ideologies is broad. Consider Communism and Capitalism, they are both Ideologies that conform to Atheism and yet are fundamentally contradictory. Democracy is another Atheistic ideology, as I guess is fascism. Any ideology that does not require a belief in any deities is an Atheistic ideology.

Saying Atheism is an ideology is just false. There is no room for manoeuvre. Atheism is confined to a non belief in gods, or the belief that gods don't exist. If you claim anything else it is simply wrong, we have dictionaries for a reason!

Theism is not the same as Christianity. Atheism is not the same as Communism. It's not rocket science people! Atheism has no doctrine! There are loads of doctrines you can agree with as an Atheist, ie doctrines that don't require a belief in god, but Atheism itself has no doctrine. Nor does Theism. Christianity is not definitive Theism!

Atheists will argue against Christianity, that is perfectly acceptable and do-able. It is a specific ideology written down in a book. But Atheism isn't an ideology that you can retaliate against, it just isn't. You can argue against Communism, Capitalism, Humanism, etc, but it is largely redundant because these don't necessarily require a belief in god anyway. Most Atheistic ideologies do not require you to believe that there is no god, they just don't require a belief in god and therefore Atheists are not excluded from them. You can be a Christian (Theist) and follow an Atheistic ideology (Capitalism) that requires no belief in gods.

There is no ideology that I personally follow, I do not consult a specific book or set of teachings in order to live my life. I do not consult a book to know whether or not I hate gay people, or am allowed to eat pork, or beef, etc, etc.

The closest thing to my ideology would be the Constitution of Australia, or even America, I suppose, and I am critical of them anyway. Atheism at least allows criticism of atheistic ideologies without fear of supernatural retribution or punishment.

Interesting point. Do you agree some of these atheistic ideologies are dangerous and have killed millions?

    Yes we do.

quote defing atheism: 1. the doctrine or belief that there is no god.

How convenient. I fear this kind of sophistry isn't very convincing.

Good luck with getting that message across :)

Heck, I even have a book about world religions where Communism is described in this exact way. But it just won't sink in with people angry with the absence of their own faith.
