Better than that, I looked it up. The .000387 number was correct, CO2 was about .0387% of our atmosphere in 2009. It was .0391% last year. It was about .0280% in pre-industrial times, according to a variety of measurement methods. These are small absolute concentrations, but the change is quite large, nearly a 40% increase, almost entire due to human activities. I don't know what the .06 is supposed to be. I do understand 40%.

Ah, that's a good suggestion. It turns out that chemically, CO2 aborbs and emits infrared radiation at wavelengths that generate a greenhouse effect. CO2 concentrations, according to a variety of measurements, are higher than they've been at any time in the past 800,000 years. Measurements become problematic beyond that, but estimates are that CO2 concentrations are the highest in at least 20 million years.

Better to think in terms of parts per million. Before industrial times, 280ppm. Today, 390ppm. That's 110 ppm that humans are primarily responsible for causing. That's the 40% increase.

Let's substitute facts instead, OK? It's more challenging.

Why? Humans are responsible for .00002322 atmospheric CO2. That isn't SQAUAT.

Almost surely we are doing so now, but the primary problem isn't climate, it's overbreeding. From that, all other ills derive directly or indirectly.

Uh, no. More fossil fuels are burned generating the electricity to charge an electric car's battery, than if you ran on straight gasoline. Hybrids burn gasoline to charge their batteries. Full life cycle costing (cost to build, charge, and dispose of the battery) makes hybrids even less "green" than normal power plants, though it does tend to shove the pollution into someone else's back yard.

The most effective means, by far, of reducing automobile pollution is to reduce the number of miles driven. This means (a) reducing our breeding rate; and (2) reducing our perceived lifestyle. Although kidding ourselves works quite well in the short run.

Humans are responsible for a 40% increase in atmospheric CO2 concentrations, probably the highest concentration in the last 20 million years. Facts are either your friends or your enemies, depending on your doctrines.

I dont think you will find many source arguing that global warming will make man extinct other than the occasional nutjob.

I agree. We're going extinct sooner or later anyway. The question is how comfortable we'll find the trip.

Natural Gas Reduces CO2 Emissions More Effectively than Renewables

Producing hybrids that run on Natural Gas vs Gasoline would help keep CO2 out of the atmospher....you can make a case againts it because of fracking.....

WOW you'll buy anything. That pine in the photo isn't just any kind of pine. It's a slow growing type of white/Norway pine. That particular specimen is probably 40 years old.

Again where is the problem from Global Warming, even if it is occuring? (which I do not concede)They didn't name it Greenland for nothing.

This should be a natural rooting interest for Portland and Seattle. That they don't tells you how screwed up the leftwad minds in those towns have become.

This is like playing wack-a-mole. Global warming does NOT mean a slight increase in yearly average temperature, almost too small to notice, that affects daily weather by making it just a bit warmer. That image is totally false. Even if we get a full 3 degree average global increase over a century, if that's ALL it were, residents of Portland and Seattle wouldn't notice a thing. And nobody else would care about it either, provided they live a dozen feet above sea level.

But if a small increase in global temperatures should change ocean currents, or shift the jet stream, then the Portland and Seattle residents might notice that it never rains anymore! The local forests would notice as well. In fact, you would probably be one of the few who could not notice, even if you were looking straight at it.

Yeah man, Don't you know that all of the stuff we are taking out of the ground was put there by God, so it will never naturally occur ever again. [/sarcasm]

As if the natural processes that produced NATURAL gas have all stopped forever.........

don't you global warming deniers KNOW ANYTHING.....splfffthbbb....

I think we should start with all the AGW deniers....y'all deny Evolution in favor of a silly imaginary creature. Since this imaginary creature promises eternal life, this shouldn't be a problem eh?

so now it's not AGW. Good grief, please make up your mind. If not man, then who should we be mad at?

Another lib who wants humanity to retreat to the Dark Ages.

No one knows what is causing the rise in temperature of how much affect humans have on it.

This is all just speculation by a bunch of socialists who want government to control everyone's lives.

If we ate going to extend the definition of finite out to the order of centuries why not billions of years? After all the sun will eventually go supernova.

It doesn't. It proves that there is warming when there shouldn't be warming. We're supposed to be in a cooling period, instead we just had the hottest decade in 11,000 years after having the coldest only 100 years ago. What unnatural things have occurred since 1900 that could have an affect on climate? Increased human GHG emissions? Factually proven. Increased human deforestation? Factually proven. What besides human interference has happened since 1900 that is proven to have caused spikes in temperature and atmospheric CO2?

As if Mother Nature, and climates, give two craps about us finite earthlings.

Things change. Always have. Always will. Go with the flow, Caveman did. Capitalism does. You can too.

Jesus is the future of mankind.

But this is not a religious issue.

Your side is the one complaining about the Industrial Age which has given you all the wonderful gadgets and medicine and science that we have today.

Actually, when re-analyzing the thread title, I believe that Nature is saying 'Liberals are Idiots'. All evidence points to such. Twice.

Jesus doesnt exist. And religion is linked to AGW, because the same exact people who dismiss AGW is the same that dismiss Evolution.
