Disputed NPR report claimed Gorsuch refused to wear mask despite plea from Sotomayor: ‘100% false’

". . . NPR’s report, which was published on Tuesday morning, was addressed on that evening’s edition of "Special Report with Bret Baier," when Fox News chief legal correspondent and "FOX News @ Night" anchor Shannon Bream’s sources shot down the report.

"I am told that is not accurate," Bream said of NPR’s version of events.

"A source at the Supreme Court says there have been no blanket admonition or request from Chief Justice Roberts that the other justices begin wearing masks to arguments," Bream continued. "The source further stated Justice Sotomayor did not make any such request to Justice Gorsuch. I’m told, given that fact, there was also no refusal by Justice Gorsuch."

Bream added that all the justices are vaccinated and boosted against COVID and undergo regular testing.

Mike Davis, a former law clerk for Gorsuch, also shot down NPR’s report.

"Fact Check: 100% False," Davis tweeted. "The Chief never asked his colleagues to mask up, for any reason.". . . . "

 

I don't know Gorsuch the way you apparently know him. Perhaps, unlike the cult committed to central control regardless of how misguided, I wouldn't construct a chain link fence to guard against mosquitoes ,,, nor would I wear a mask designed to guard against bacteria to guard against passing an airborne virus .06 - .14 microns. Even an N95 mask is good for blocking .3 micron particles. I hope to pick up a free KN95 MADE IN CHINA using slave labor, just like Congress.

Shannon Bream of Fox News, actually took the time to quickly double check and shot it down.

 

The SC has 75 employees. If it is unsafe for Sotomayor to be in the same room or building with ONE employee who is fully vaccinated but not wearing a mask, then I would think it would also be unsafe for her to be working with 75 employees, even if all of them were vaccinated and wearing a mask.

In all seriousness, the safest thing for her is to stay home and do her work remotely, just like millions of Americans do. Makes no difference what Gorsuch does or doesn’t do. Either way, she’s safer at home.

 

Sotomayor can go suck an egg.

I have to agree, personally, it does not bother me if someone does not wear a mask once they don't enter my space uninvited, but where there are clear rules re. masking, just wear the ****ing mask.

That statement did not address the key question of whether Roberts had asked the justices to wear masks. It denied that Sotomayor herself had asked Gorsuch to wear a mask, which is not what NPR reported.

No word from Totenberg that I'm aware of. Let's see if she sticks by her sources or offers a retraction.

 

Personally, I'd give the benefit of the doubt to Nina before anyone at Faux but we'll see what happens.

 

Oops, didn't see this before I posted that. Before Roberts’ statement was released, an NPR spokesman told CNBC that the outlet stands by its story.

Have you considered the possibility, in the interest of presenting the appearance of comity on the bench, Roberts' statement is a lie? Just sayin'. BTW, Gorsuch's reported dickishness goes beyond the mask controversy.
