He's behaving like those he once deplored. Remember that this guy originally championed resistance against the establishment.

When you carry a position long past the demise of the conditions that birthed it, you become the establishment. You become the conservative regressionist.

Okay, call it something else then. How about 'shrill conservatism on behalf of the establishment'?

Nothing like referring to one's opponents as "lunatics" to keep a conversation civil and respectful.:bored:

As far as this ridiculous "dust up" between Young and Rogan?

    Good publicity for both.
    A net Win/Win.

Should Spotify run all their decisions through Neil?

Yep, run everything past the ancient hippy who thinks it's still 1972.

You go ahead and drink your own urine and suck on crystals. I'll take Ivermectin in lieu of taking an experimental "booster" every four months for the rest of my life.

I don't think "resistance" is based on "establishment".

It's based on right v wrong.... In 1970 (Vietnam, Racists), the establishment was wrong. In 2022, the establishment is right.

Naturalized American citizens aren't American? I disagree, as does our country as a whole, but I can't say I'm surprised to hear it. And why does your friend not having nice things to say about him matter?

Ronnie Van Zant had spoke about Sweet Home. People are pretending it’s a clap back, but it wasn’t according to him. They were very good friends as well.

Well I heard ol' Neil put her down
Well I hope Neil Young will remember
A southern man don't need him around anyhow
    ENDSNIP

Seriously?? You don't call that a "clap back"??

Also keep in mind, Neil Young does not have a good relationship with Spotify. He has went after them before.

Was the late Ronnie Van Zant lying?

Hell there is even a rumor Ronnie was buried in a Neil Young t-shirt.

I'm not saying they weren't friends (then or later), and I'm not even saying it was done in malice, but it's a clear response to Southern Man... that's all I said

It's not like you need to bring in Alan Turing to decrypt those lyrics...

He's a Canadian who took American citizenship what year ago. I won't go into details here other than he does not treat his back up musicians kindly.

So he's American. And you didn't answer my other question about how the last sentence is even relevant.

    1) No? Do you think The Resistance is resisting the Anarchists? It's always about the establishment ... and this century Neil IS the establishment. 100%.

    2) Haha ... LOL, of course it is. When you've decided you're infallible therefore no further thought or review is needed, you can ride that train for life. Hitler believed himself working for the common good too.

    3) In 1970 we were heading towards balance, now we're heading away from it. It's not one jot better now, than it was then .. and in some respects is far worse. The establishment today is very wrong, but because Neil (and apparently you) think it's still 1972, you can't see it.

He doesn't claim to be an American, either you are all in American or you are not IMHO.

""I'm proud to be a Canarican," he sang to the tune of "God Bless the USA" during an Instagram video, proudly referring to his dual citizenship in Canada and America as he spun both country's flags. "

It struck me when he did it.

I can only go by his own comments. Young’s ‘Alabama’ is much more hard hitting than Southern Man.

Ronnie left a legacy here in Jacksonville. People still talk on about him today.

Neil Young: “I think “Sweet Home Alabama” is a great song. I’ve actually performed it live a couple of times myself.
Not only were Lynyrd Skynyrd and Neil Young tremendous fans of each other’s work, there were actually plans to collaborate on “Powderfinger,” written by Young specifically for Lynyrd Skynyrd shortly before the October 20, 1977 crash that ultimately claimed the lives of Ronnie Van Zant, Cassie Gaines, and Steve Gaines.
