    https://www.mediaite.com/tv/just-in...americans-support-removing-trump-from-office/

You can view the full results of the poll here: http://cdn.cnn.com/cnn/2019/images/11/25/rel13a.-.trump,.impeachment.pdf

The overall results are essentially unchanged from October, much to the consternation of Republicans who have spent the last few days arguing that support for impeachment is plummeting or some such nonsense.

There are some interesting movements within the full results. For example, 4 in 10 say they are following the impeachment inquiry "very closely" and of those who are more attentive, the support for impeachment is higher at 53/46. There has also been a 4 point upward tick in support for the assertion that "Trump improperly used his office for political gain." One further interesting point is the increasing gender gap which finds that 61% of women support impeaching and removing Trump compared to 53% of men who oppose (the number for women is up by 5% compared to October and the number for men is unchanged).

The poll also provides further reason to believe that these numbers are essentially locked in for the time being given than roughly 9 out of 10 voters say that they have strongly held opinions on the subject, either for or against, of impeachment.

31% described themselves as Democrats, 25% described themselves as Republicans, and 44% described themselves as independents or members of another party

Again.... If 40+% of people were "independent" we would not be in such a dominant two party system.

    Also

For thesubset of 431Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents who are registered to vote, it is +/-5.7percentage points.

Sounds like you have him now.

You should go ahead and vote to impeach.

For those interested in further reading, I suggest reading this article from 538 where they interviewed a group of voters, repeatedly and over time, to track their feelings regarding impeachment:

    https://fivethirtyeight.com/feature...ted-an-impeachable-offense/?ex_cid=538twitter

I also fully embrace the notion of reviewing the average of polls rather than focusing on one specific poll. To that end, here is the current standing on the 538 impeachment tracker:

Polls Showing Support/Disapproval for the Impeachment Process:

The "toss me in the briar patch" talking point reeks of desperation.

But thanks for the well wishes and don't worry, Christmas will be here soon enough!

Honestly, I think they could have taken that poll in June before this whole charade and had the same results.

You're right. It's a bluff. The country is crying out for the impeachment of the President.

    Then don't impeach.

    You lose either way.

They seem to get their information from a single source. That's the only explanation I can come up with.

In June, the average of polls put support for impeachment at somewhere around 50% did not support, 39% support.

When you reference the "one democrat peel off," are you talking about Brenda Lawrence?

    Is there already another one?

Well there are the other 2 who never supported impeachment.

    And still don't.

I agree, there is no "there" there.

And FWIW, i've gone on record before, IF there was a candidate that held the same pro america stance that donald trump has, and has even half of the non-stick teflon coating that donald trump has, I would vote for that person over donald every day and twice on sunday, I love his ideas but i'll freely admit that he's a flaming azz.

One thing is clear: The dem's do NOT have such a person in their ranks. And the gop isn't offering an alternative. Given my current options, my choice for 2020 is all but made.

Oh, I don't think it is a bluff. I think it is a politically expedient talking point built on the fact that they realize impeachment is inevitable and thus, out of desperation, they believe the best path forward is to pretend impeachment is something they wanted the whole time.

They're going to try to take the high road out of their self constructed quagmire and, given that "Patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel", I assume they'll say something along those lines. "For the good of the country.."etc

I just wanted to be clear before crushing your talking point by quoting Brenda Lawrence from Tuesday after she "peeled off,"

"I was an early supporter for impeachment in 2017. The House Intelligence Committee followed a very thorough process in holding hearings these past two weeks. The information they revealed confirmed that this President has abused the power of his office, therefore I continue to support impeachment. However, I am very concerned about Senate Republicans and the fact that they would find this behavior by the President acceptable."

I would have agreed until a month or six weeks ago but now a Senate Trial is the only way to get to the bottom of this fiasco, and the timing of the investigative reports will certainly move it along also.

Yes and I said she was threatened and backtracked.

Did you miss that as well?

The point being she suggested censure over impeachment until magically overnight she reversed.

Let's look at her original statement

We are so close to an election. I will tell you, sitting here knowing how divided this country is, I don’t see the value of taking him out of office. I do see the value of putting down a marker saying his behavior is not acceptable.

I want to censure. I want it on the record that the House of Representatives did their job and they told this president and any president coming behind him that this is unacceptable behavior and, under our Constitution, we will not allow it.

And she's only the beginning :)

At least you see the light of recognizing that she does continue to support impeachment and that support for impeachment has not dropped amongst the general public.

lol after she was threatened yes just as I said from the beginning which you obviously missed.

And since you couldn't even win back the two who already said no and now she comes out this is only the beginning of your problems.

Wait until your people get back after the break and hear from their constituents :)

But still please vote for impeachment. Give us a trial where federal law is followed and watch those numbers go down even more. :)
