"New DHS immigration rules: Drunk drivers, sex abusers, drug dealers, gun offenders not top deportation priorities"

"One might have thought that the supposed "focusing on criminals" in Obama's Immigration might really mean.....focusing on criminals. But; not so fast. Just in time for the new Immigration E.O. grab......the DHS has conveniently changed the rules. The new rules will only place as priority "terrorists, felons, and new illegal border crossers." But there will be NO top FOCUS by the administration on "convicted drunk drivers, sex abusers, drug dealers, and gun offenders." So, if anybody thinks he's going to crackdown on criminals.....think again; it ain't gonna happen. He's not been tough before and he's changing the rules so that he can be even softer on crime. I sat on a Grand Jury once in the past few years in Texas......and the local Mexican gangs would be caught and deported but told the ICE agents......as they laughed, "Don't worry, we'll be back.....we'll just go home for a while and come right back; it's easy." I would guess now that about 80% of the cases we had before us were apparently illegals. This unsecured border cost us a LOT more than one might think: higher costs to ALL taxpayers to continually go after the same guys over and over again.....and with no real consequences to them. Not to mention all the other costs....in healthcare, emergency care, insurance costs, public schools added costs, jail costs, and the dangers our families are subjected to because we haven't a clue who is here and where they are from. And even though the new rules say they'll deport illegal border crossers; I do not for one moment believe them. They have ZERO history of anything better than a revolving door.

"The Department of Homeland Security has just released new "Policies for the Apprehension, Detention, and Removal of Undocumented Immigrants." Designed to fill in the details after President Obama's announcement that at least four million currently illegal immigrants will be given work permits, Social Security numbers and protection from deportation, the DHS guidelines are instructions for the nation's immigration and border security officers as they administer the president's directive.

The new priorities are striking. On the tough side, the president wants U.S. immigration authorities to go after terrorists, felons, and new illegal border crossers. On the not-so-tough side, the administration views convicted drunk drivers, sex abusers, drug dealers, and gun offenders as second-level enforcement priorities. An illegal immigrant could spend up to a year in prison for a violent crime and still not be a top removal priority for the Obama administration."
