As for the defense on the Senate and their arguments, that was entirely partisan. Funny how two people can watch a process and see two different things.

Trump's chosen "team" spilled enough word salad on the Senate floor, you could feed a small army for a week. There was barely any legal connection with most of their arguments, which often were off-topic IMO. He did it, he admitted it, and he was impeached for it. And even that was only due to Dem control of the House.

There are robably other things in his Senate files that Joe doesn't want in the public, but there's an easy solution. Instead of releasing his personal papers to the public, DC investigators and Ms. Reade's lawyers could go through them together and obtain any pertinent information relating to her employment.

I understand her rage, but I'm not convinced, yet, that's she's truthful. If he actually assaulted her as she describes, why wasn't that part of her riginal complaint? Why after all these years? There's more to this, I think.

You still have not provided that transcript, and you have not even bothered to try answering my question. What is this right you claim Trump was exercizing? Link a transcript and provide an excerpt proving your claim. You got that statement from somewhere. If you had composed it on your own, you would be able to explain it. If you got it from a media outlet or a radio pundit, cite the reference, please. If you are unable to prove that statement, please don't reply with more not very artful dodging.

(That last was a literary reference, apologies if you're not a reader.)

 

I think having the Judiciary committee look into the matter is a good plan. Let's go with the same treatment that Kavanaugh had. Seems fair to me.

 

I know there is a huge temptation for conservatives to want to do 'payback' for the Kavanaugh appointment. I think we should resist this.

I think conservatives should just say: in the past, standards were different, and worse. Men made unwanted advances to women, sometimes going over the line from verbal to physical in a way that didn't quite cross the line of assault, but came close. Men of all political persuasions did this. Things have now changed, and behavior that was tolerated, maybe reluctantly, maybe out of fear of the consequences, even twenty years ago, won't be tolerated now. The human race advances. So put this in the past and let's concentrate on Mr Biden's political ideas.

It's also worth stating that the war between the sexes is a subtle one: nature has programmed us to replicate our genes, and we need someone of the opposite sex to do so. For non-commercial connections, how to initiate the mating dance is tricky. Males are conventionally supposed to be the initiators ... but few women appreciate a crude "Hey, how about it?" proposition. Doing it the right way is not easy, especially for those men who are delicate flowers inside and fear rejection. There doesn't seem to be a standard way to signal a kind 'No thanks.', even if all men were sensitized to receiving the signal and initiating a 'cease and desist'. But these are just side thoughts. As a hard rule: even the most tentative physical contact that is not encouraged has to be broken off immidately.

Political discourse in America is being dragged down and down and down. We ought to be having rational discussions about economic policy, foreign policy, social policy. Instead .... so let conservatives take the lead here and just ignore this stuff about Mr Biden.
