There may be a reasonable Constitutional case prohibiting California from spending any federal money on illegals.

    "Article I, Section 8, Clause 1:

The Congress shall have Power to lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States."

The question would be "How does giving taxpayer money, directly or indirectly, to illegal immigrants provide for the defense and general welfare of the United States?"

I don't think that would pass the courts. That section is only talking about the federal level taxes/spending. States are allowed to pass their own tax and spending laws. A more Constitutional basis would be the clause that talks about only the Federal government being able to regulate immigration. And that would be a stretch in this case since CA isn't trying to regulate immigration...just give free healthcare to illegal aliens.

No, the best bet imo would be to enforce the Immigration Act's clause against helping illegal aliens.

Just as an addendum. The States can ignore enforcement of federal law through enacting passive laws (such as don't assist ICE in their round ups). But they can't make laws that actively run counter to federal law. Such as helping them live in CA.

In my post I did say they could stop the spending of Federal funds.
The only way to stop them spending state money on illegals is to have the voters stop it, but the California courts often override voter initiatives with the "We know what's best for you attitude"
When California taxpayers, well the few that have not abandoned the state, are presented with the bill for the illegals healthcare, things may change.
Looking at the California Constitution Section 3, there may be a valid case for charging the governor with perjury.

That would be a great for Californians.

The Red states get gets subsidies from California's expense, and on our own we would be better off.

A bonus would be the Righties who live in California who whine about how bad deal in California but still live here in their Prop 13 subsidized houses paying $600 per year in taxes for a $900,000 house!

A associate was ready to move out of state until he found out his house taxes would be $4,000 per year on a red state. He still cries he is overtaxed, but he's not leaving! Of course, perhaps his daughter, who will still be able to live in that $600 per year forever (a tiny increase is allowed).

Who would want that? California is third world. I doubt they have feces on sidewalks in places like Bolivia or Vietnam. But they do in California.

I haven't been to Bolivia, but I have been to Vietnam.

    You are grossly incorrect.

The sad part is, you can clean up the streets, clean up the problems and still have compassion. The leftists in CA just have no idea how to govern and keep their streets free of the maleficence and the drugs. Sadly, the direction they are heading will allow CA to fall right off the cliff.

    Oh, pleeease!

I have driven a good amount of this country, and its rare to not notice homeless and skid-row dumps around the South.

There is few cities where drugs and care better! The highest use of heavy drug use with associated overdose and death is in the south.

Some parts of the South would need a bulldozer to go over must of these cities and rural areas, although some of it is "neat and clean" because the oil and mineral areas had been forced to landscape area they had destroyed, unfortunately the landscape was false designed and will tear apart in a few years.

In Southern California, it has hundreds of square miles of land, containing a few square blocks of skidrow of people in the streets, and a block away are new or remodeled skyscrapers with studio 500 square apartments for $2200 up to 2 bedroom $4000 PER MONTH or more!

And most have waiting lists to be able to rent.

And when I have had a crew go to the South, Texas or AR or MS, for any of the crew who had an accent or a different-looking, I had all of their legal papers, citizenship, licenses. I carried their paper myself because on 2 instances, the local sheriffs just tore up their papers!

What was most sad is I never employed illegals. It badlwas hard sometimes is I had real difficulty with white American workers because they just assumed riverstheir whiteness meant they didn't need to show papers, so when some large employers like Walmart actually started needing documentation and the federal checking, I couldn't hire them because they would always have inadequate docs or expired od incorrect set drivers license, I couldn't hire them! Oh, man, these guys would scream and cry and try to make me cheat the citizen checks! I could count on the Right wing whining the worse.

    Once upon a time.....

Nice excuse, though but it doesn't really get us anywhere or solve the issues of liberal leaders destroying CA with their inability to combat homelessness.
