The MMGW Cult is once again busted manipulating data to push their political agenda. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has yet again been caught exaggerating ‘global warming’ by fiddling with the raw temperature data. This time, that data concerns the recent record-breaking cold across the northeastern U.S. which NOAA is trying to erase from history. If you believe NOAA’s charts, there was nothing particularly unusual about this winter’s cold weather which caused sharks to freeze in the ocean and iguanas to drop out of trees. That’s because, as Paul Homewood has discovered, NOAA has been cooking the books. Yet again – presumably for reasons more to do with ideology than meteorology – NOAA has adjusted past temperatures to look colder than they were and recent temperatures to look warmer than they were. We’re not talking fractions of a degree, here. The adjustments amount to a whopping 3.1 degrees F. This takes us well beyond the regions of error margins or innocent mistakes and deep into the realm of fiction and political propaganda. http://www.breitbart.com/big-govern...caught-adjusting-big-freeze-out-of-existence/
A guy writing on Breitbart doesn't understand something, takes for granted it's a conspiracy and runs with it without trying to understand it. Gotcha. "The key point here is that while NOAA frequently makes these adjustments to the raw data, it has never offered a convincing explanation as to why they are necessary." There are plenty of information on data corrections to remove biases. It's not because someone who isn't an expert doesn't understand it that it means it's a conspiracy. https://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/monitoring-references/faq/temperature-monitoring.php
Funny how all these "adjustments" always go in one direction............the one that pushes the MMGW Cult narrative.
This is not the first time NOAA has manipulated data.. https://science.house.gov/news/pres...nfirms-colleagues-manipulated-climate-records and that "whistle blower" is a global warming believer..
That's false. I've seen a graph in the link below. Sometime the adjustment makes temp colder. You are not an expert. Know the subject of why these adjustments are made and then maybe you can have a point. https://www.theguardian.com/environ...ure-adjustments-bring-data-closer-to-pristine
Yes I have seen that as well.. making temps colder.. but its usually in the past.. If you make the past temp colder.. it makes it look like the planet is heating up even more..
It's fake news. This guy is an idiot. He came to his conspiracy conclusion by comparing apples to oranges. Dumb...just amazingly dumb is what this is. I can't believe so many people are gullible enough to fall for it.
Why can't they just use the actual temps? Why do they have to make them 3 degrees warmer? Are the instruments in the NE USA that inaccurate?
False. The sum total of all necessary adjustments actually make the warming less; not more. And after WWII the adjustments have almost no effect at all.
The fact that you are asking that question demonstrates your ignorance of the subject. Yet you feel qualified to assert a conspiracy over it. Maybe you should go away and educate yourself, rather than commenting on stuff you don't understand.
You didn't even look. The temp from 1880 to 1940 is made hotter by the adjustments (more than in recent years), something that wouldn't help Global Warming.
First, that's not what happened here. They didn't make anything 3 degrees warmer. Second, adjustments are necessary for several reasons. For example, the urban heat island effect must be removed. You do want that removed don't you? Third, NOAAGlobalTemp is a proxy dataset that computes the global mean temperature from a nonhomogeneous and unequally spaced dataset of surface stations. You have to weight the values appropriately otherwise you'll overweight the temperatures from densely instrumented regions and underweight them from sparsely instrumented regions. There are datasets that do compute a true global mean temperature from readings in an equally spaced grid mesh covering the whole Earth using orders of magnitude more inputs than these proxy datasets. These are called reanalysis datasets. They do NOT adjust the observations at all. And yet.they agree with these proxy datasets remarkably well.
More fake news. https://www.factcheck.org/2017/02/no-data-manipulation-at-noaa/ By the way, NOAAGlobalTemp, like NASA's GISS, is a proxy dataset so yes there are several data adjustments steps involved. None of them are fraudulent. It's all public information. You can go look it up and convince yourself that nothing inappropriate is going on.
So you have no explanation as to why actual temps can't be used, and the NOAA feels the need to inflate temps by 3 degrees. Got it.
What is this, about a dozen times now? Time and again the frauds are caught fudging the numbers, but everyone else is dumb..."anti-science"... for not buying into their malarkey. lol
IIRC, the temps during this time were in the teens and single digits. "Heat island"? WTF are you babbling about? And if it is such a bad location for a thermometer, why not put it somewhere else? Why put it somewhere that you have to come back and make up a number? Also, if the "adjustments" were due to a "heat island" the temps would have been adjusted downward, not upward. Your spin is falling short, sport.
