that won't happen because corporations need to find a cause to make donations to so they can take it off their taxes. So they private owners pick causes they support. it's as simple as that.

why is it BEST? and for who? it's not BEST for me and my family, who has to pay increases in health care because Steve wants to put Dave on his health care plan (for a spouse price plan) Hell, my brother has no health insurance, but I do.... I may as well call him "my husband" which allows him to be able to afford the same health care he wasn't able to as a "single" man.

marraige is not a right, it's a privledge..... noone is garanteed marraige. so to DEMAND equal privledges because "I want it too....." is not "BEST" for anyone but the group wanting the same thing.

Typical openminded crap.... "It's 'best' because it's best for me, IDC how it affects anyone else" That right there is the same intolerant B.S. and 'forcing your views down my throat' crap most of you complain about with religion.

but yet when religion does it to you.... it's the most evil thing in the history of mankind.....

FWIW - my stance isn't hypocritical at least. As a Christian.... I have yet to argue that law be based on my religious views.... (ie - against the law to cheat, or stoning of whores, or whatever other passage you want to choose....)

you may not care that I don't want to pay higher insurance premiums because companies are being forced to accept Joe on Steve's insurance and then passing their increased cost down to people like me, but it's not a religious argument.... I still believe that I shouldn't cheat, and that gay is wrong, but I'm not kicking in your door and Crusading you.

However, you are doing just that. I don't beleive what you do, so you are goign to try and FORCE me to.

being gay is a religion for non-believers. You are Crusaiding for your agenda, and using the cause as your justification. Your agenda has nothing to do with "equality" , it has to do with "equality +1" ..... extra protection. you then crusade in the name of tolerance, much like the spanish crusaded in the name of the Lord.

the only difference.... when a person wouldn't convert to Christianity back then, they were killed. When a person doesn't convert to your cause.... you label them as intolerant, or a bigot, and try to ruin the businesses they run (ie - Chick-fil-a).

The forced thing with respect to higher insurance premiums is absolute nonsense. You don't know how much they would go up - and given that gays represent a very small portion of society it's highly unlikely that it would be any more than a few cents per person in all honesty. Equal rights should also never be judged on financial cost.

And EVERYONE in society funds something they don't agree with. Think how many people opposed the Iraq war, how much that cost the American taxpayer and how much debt was added to the deficit. Unfortunately thats just how things go sometimes, and by comparison to the aforementioned and many other hot-button issues such as Obamacare, same-sex marriage probably has a smaller impact on you personally than a few comets on the edge of the solar system... stop clutching at straws to justify the fact that you just don't want gays to get married.

Let's face facts - practically every state which has legalised SSM to date has majority support for it. So the majority of taxpayers don't mind forking out a few extra cents to ensure equality for all their fellow citizens. You're also conveniently forgetting that it's been proven that legalising SSM leads to increased spending and therefore benefits state economies.

And the "equality +1" charge you keep making is beyond ludicrous. We can't marry the people you love and wish to spend the rest of your lives with... but you can. There is nothing "extra" about seeking a level playing field and an equal place at the table.

....Because systematically killing people and calling someone a bigot aren't that far apart now are they?

that's not a right.... noone is preventing you from shacking up with the one you love....

if a gay gets beat up, there is already a name for that crime and a punishment..... so why should their now be an added hatecrime stipulation, too. Is a gay more important than a straight, therefore, beating one up deserves more punishment? That's the equality +1 I speak of.

That's what happens to hateful people.

And. . .for people who are NOT hateful, it is a moot point.
And for the people who are the target of hate acts, it is a protection.

    I am all for it!

well, from here on, whenver I get beat up, or mugged, I'm going to say the bad guy called me a f-ggot so he can get more punishment. I can throw on a good lisp during court if I have to. I dare you to ask me to prove I'm gay in court too.

assualt is assault, no matter if you're gay or straight.

    murder is murder

if you kill a queer or a straight, you get charged with murder

I don't think "hate-crimes" are generally speaking any different to any other crimes committed. A crime is a crime. A victim is a victim. The EFFECT on the victim is relatively no different to any other case.

But it's important to remember that in hate-crime legislation it's not only gays and minorities that fall under it's classifications, but sexual orientation and race. So technically it applies to all equally.

But going back to the marriage issue, we are prevented in most places from having the same legal recognitions as heterosexuals, and with DOMA in place we remain second-class citizens even in states that have legalised and voted for it. That's the reality. We aren't "+1" at all... far from it.

yeah, that's not a denial... just an avoidance of the point raised.

The pure hatred towards anyone that doesn't agree with the pro-gay agenda astounds me everyday.... There are PLENTY that would kill a 'homophobe' if they thought that would further their cause.

I'm a redhead.... I was kicked last year on "kick a ginger day" where's my +1 protection? It's more than just battery, it was a battery that was targetting a redhead for no other reason than being a redhead.

See how silly that sounds? Enforce the current battery laws, and every redhead that is kicked during the national "kick a ginger day" is protected

Remind me again when a ginger person was killed for being ginger, or denied marriage, or thrown out of the military, or fired from their job...

Not saying people don't "hate" on gingers but that's totally apples and oranges.

can you buy houses wherever you want.
Are gays beign prevented from voting by "gay jim crow laws" of some sort
are you being denied an education at the institution you choose?
can you not get a job in the career of your choice?

Doesn't sound like you are being discriminated at all. Sounds like you are upset others don't agree with your lifestyle, so you shout "EQUALITY" when the truth is, you want special treatment

You didn't get passed over for that job promotion because you were gay, you were passed over because the white christian male that had roughly the same creditials as you, happened to give a better interview than you did. Blame your personality, not the fact that you are gay.

But the agenda says "sue the employer who MUST be bigotted and you will get at least a quick settlement"

And again, NOT "+1" to gays if heterosexuals are covered under the same law. Hate-crime legislation makes sexual orientation a motivating factor. So if a straight person got beat up by a bunch of gays, that would HAVE to be treated as a hate crime. If a white person got attacked by a group of black people, hate crime. Works both ways.

only because it's not YOUR group being kicked during that day. Is national "kick a queer day" acceptable?

maybe you were fired because of poor work effort, not because you were gay.... but that's not the "i was victimized" answer you want to hear.
Noone gets fired anymore from the military unless.

marraige is a privledge, not a right. and all secondary privledges associated with marraige are offered to gay couples already.

so what are you still fighting for. In 1950, you had a point. But DADT only becomes an issue if the gay wants to make a political statement. A republican army man was discharged for speaking against Obama. While I agreed with his points, I agreed he should be discharged because he's there to be a soldier, not a political mouthpiece.

Noone is actively seaking out gays in the military to run them out. Just like noone is actively seeking out Republicans or democrats so they can fire them. It's a made up 'injustice' that no longer applies

You can't simply point out what rights we DO have as if we should just be grateful for having those and forget the fact that in most states we can be fired from our jobs, or refused goods and services. Even when legislation preventing sexual orientation being a reason to refuse to do business with someone applies, they can still find another excuse to deny you the job or promotion or room... and so on and so forth. So don't for ONE SECOND think that anti-discrimination laws prevent people who dislike gays from refusing to serve, rent a room, employ or do business with. And where NO such protections exist (as in most of the US) someone can sack you citing your homosexuality. Fact. They can be open about that and face NO ramifications whatsoever, so long as state law allows it and ENDA doesn't exist.

Bringing up jim crow laws just demonstrates your pompous and ignorant attitude... should we be comparing ourselves to blacks circa-1960's and be grateful we haven't been subject to segregation? Or should we look at the fact that whilst we aren't being executed or imprisoned for sodomy like we have in the past, we still are unable to marry the ones we wish to spend the rest of our lives with in most of the US??

There is no plus one to us in any of this. That you think that is frankly reflective of how out of touch you are with reality.
